A Study of Strategic Approach for Course and Program Outcomes Assessment (교과목 및 프로그램 학습성과 평가의 전략적 접근)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest directions to improve engineering education and the assessment system of our country. For this object, the present situation of engineering education and assessment system in Korea have been reviewed and next, for those of study, the research papers and publications about the environment of college education are analyzed. Finally, an improved assessment system is suggested. It has already passed out for 6 years since execute the accreditation for engineering education in our country now, but essential point for step in accreditation for engineering education is how the evaluator can make the outcomes of studying. This is not a new terminology that is deformed according to special quality of college of engineering which prefer out-come based of study than process based of study to mean accomplishment in engineering education. The evaluation that estimate program is a skill, but an assessment method is not the meaning of individual student accomplishment also, it is the measure of validity estimation that should be estimate ability of students who complete program by proper authority. However, a new evaluation strategy that assess student outcome by person who consider the objectivity and validity, reliability should be develop for decision making of ABEEK. It is an original, private discussion for assessment strategy about the method for student learning outcomes assessment.

  • Though the 'Program Educational Objectives' is the first and important criterion in ABEEK's engineering education accreditation, exact meaning and implementation methods have not been understood well. It was often confused with 'Program Outcomes' and its implementation and evaluation methods do not reflected well on the concepts of "outcomes based and demand driven education". A new implementation model for 'Program Educational Objectives' has been developed using step by step application. The model explains the meaning of every step (phase), and key constituents in each phase. The specialization and CQI of the program could be satisfied by applying the model properly.

A Case Analysis of Program Outcomes Assessment Systems for Engineering Education Accreditation of South Korea and USA (한국과 미국의 프로그램 학습성과 평가체계 사례분석)

  • This study aimed to seek the ways of improving program outcomes assessment systems for engineering education accreditation of South Korea through performing comparative analysis on those of the United States. Case-study research method was implemented to achieve the research goal. Five university programs, which have been well recognized as good practices in engineering education accreditation in the United States, were selected and analyzed. In addition, those of three universities in South Korea were chosen for comparative analysis, which were reformed by university affiliated Engineering Education Innovative Centers. The analysis results indicated that there were differences in each program's program outcomes, assessment level of program outcomes, evaluation methods on program outcomes achievement, and analysis and improvement records. It was drawn up that the evaluation methods on program outcomes achievement should be paid full attention. For better program outcomes assessment system, however, the followings are in more attention. Firstly, to establish program outcomes reflecting program goal. Secondly, to set up the detailed plans for analysis and quality improvement on program outcomes. Thirdly, to keep continuing efforts on curriculum update.

  • 최근 컴퓨터 프로그램의 크기가 증가하고 목적이 다양해지면서 프로그램의 취약점에 대한 위험이 증가하고 있다. 공격자 보다 먼저 프로그램 취약점을 찾아내기 위한 여러 기법들이 있다. 그 중 프로그램의 취약점을 보다 효율적으로 찾아내기 위한 기법 중 하나인 퍼징 (Fuzzing) 은 프로그램에 무작위로 입력 데이터를 입력하여 프로그램의 정의되지 않은 영역을 검증하는 기법이다. 이러한 입력 데이터를 최대한 적은 시간과 자원을 소모하여 생성하기 위해 인공지능과 퍼징을 결합하는 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 본 논문에서는 퍼징의 개념 및 종류에 대해 설명하고 퍼징과 인공지능이 결합된 최신 연구에 대해 서술한다.

  • To enhance the competitiveness of the engineering college through cultivating market-oriented engineering students and to overcome the current 'science/engineering evasion' phenomena, this study proposes an engineering-management course and a strategy for its design and operation. Management ability and leadership is now a necessity for engineering students who will lead the society with their innovative science technology, yet such capacities can only be enhanced by providing a well organized engineering-management program. This study intends to introduce and propose development plans for Yonsei University College of Engineering's 'Techno-Yonsei' undergraduate engineering-management program. CEO's with an engineering background are increasing and in a society where cutting-edge technology is regarded as an invaluable asset, and where development and application of such technology is recognized as the key to securing competitiveness, the roles of 'engineering minded' CEO's are becoming indispensable. This study is significant in that it presents both the need and solution for a market-oriented engineering-management program in accordance to the social demands.

  • Engineering education accreditation addresses evaluation for program outcomes according to educational objectives and assessment process, which students are expected to obtain by the time of graduation in order to train international competitive engineers with continuous quality improvement in engineering programs. This paper shows a case study of a program outcomes assessment system including performance criteria, evaluation process, document system and continuous quality improvement process and an achievement evaluation by the assessment system for program outcomes in Information Security Program of Hoseo university.

  • In a program that runs an engineering education certification, program outcomes refer to the knowledge, skills, and attitudes a student must have until graduation. In general, capstone design is used as a tool for evaluating program outcomes. This paper applies the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) to measure the raters' reliability in assessing program outcomes. Several raters evaluate program outcomes, and the result is used to obtain the raters' ICC. ICC measures the reliability of ratings or measurements for clusters - data that has been collected as groups or sorted into groups. If the ICC is close to 1, it means that the reliability among the raters is high. We evaluated the proposed method's usefulness through case analysis. As a method for assessing an evaluation tool's objectivity, multiple raters measure the same evaluation tool. As a result, we measured the ICC values for all POs, and analyzed the cause for the low measured POs. We applied this method to evaluate program outcomes of the Department of Computer Engineering in the past two years. As a result, we derived guidelines for improvement and program outcomes.

  • 본 논문에서는 iOS 플랫폼을 위한 스마트 가상기계(Smart Virtual Machine)를 설계하고 구현하였다. iOS 플랫폼을 위한 스마트 가상기계는 가상기계 기반의 컴파일러가 C/C++나 Java 언어로 작성된 프로그램과 의미적으로 동등한 중간 코드를 생성하면 이를 입력으로 받아 실행시켜주는 프로그램이다. 스마트 가상기계는 실행 파일인 SEF(Smart Executable Format) 파일을 입력으로 받아 실행하며, SEF 로더와 인터프리터, 내장 라이브러리, 실행 환경으로 구성되어 있다. 스마트 가상기계는 스마트 기기 등에 탑재되어 하드웨어 독립적으로 실행되며 어플리케이션 형태로 실행이 가능하므로 플랫폼에 독립적인 장점을 가진다. 또한, 프로그래머는 개발 언어의 제약 없이 프로그램을 작성할 수 있고, 프로그램을 플랫폼 독립적으로 실행할 수 있다.

  • 프로그램 신뢰성을 높이기 위한 방법 중 하나로 쓰이는 것이 명세 된 언어의 검증이다. 명세 된 언어를 검증하기 위해 소스 프로그램을 논리식으로 바꾸어 검증하는 방법을 사용한다. 소스 프로그램 뿐만 아니라 바이트코드 역시 프로그램 신뢰성을 높이기 위해서 검증이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 바이트 코드의 검증을 위해 바이트코드의 정보를 가지고 있는 중간언어의 verification condition을 생성하는 방법을 보인다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 우리나라의 대형국가연구개발프로그램인 Biotech2000프로그램에 대한 체계적인 평가를 시도하는데 있다. 대형연구개발프로그램과 그 평가에 관련된 연구가 아직 구조화되지 못한 상황이기 때문에 공공정책학분야에서 발전되어온 정책평가이론을 바탕으로 대형연구개발프로그램의 평가를 하기 위한 탐색적인 개념틀을 적립하고, 이를 바탕으로 총14년(1994-2007)의 장기대형프로그램으로 1단계를 마친 Biotech 2000프로그램을 대상으로 프로그램평가의 구성요소 및 이들간의 관계를 체계적으로 평가하여 정책적 시사점을 얻고자 하였다. 평가는 참여자와의 인터뷰조사와 생명공학관련 산·학·연 연구자에 대한 설문조사 및 그 밖의 2차 자료를 통하여 이루어졌으며, 평가의 구성요소로는 프로그램의 원칙 및 전략평가, 추진체계 및 집행평가 그리고 목표달성평가(성과 및 영향평가)를 대상으로 하였다. 본 프로그램은 범부처적인 프로그램으로 프로그램의 형성 및 집행에 있어 성공적으로 이루어지고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 프로그램의 초기단계이긴 하지만 생명공학기술의 중요성에 대한 인식의 확산에 결정적인 기여를 한 것으로 보인다. 그러나 부처간의 조정이나 연구과제의 비일관성, 산업화에 대한 전략 등의 부재가 문제인 것으로 나타났다.
