Recently, the virtual construction system in which project participants efficiently share and control the information throughout the life-cycle of construction project using 3D object models is being developed all over the world. In this paper, a design of interface between 3D object model of structures and structural analysis system that is essential for the analysis and design of civil structures in the virtual space is treated. The relation parametric modeling technique that is needed to make the 3D object models and the construction method of product breakdown structure(PBS) that considers the several parameters for the structural analysis are presented. PBS is built so that it is possible to extract needed attribute information from 3D object model and to apply it to the structural analysis. Design methodology for interface program is proposed that several numerical values determined by the cooperative work same as structural analysis are delivered to 3D object models without additional work. An interface program between 3D object models and structural analysis system developed based on the proposed method would be effectively used to develop virtual construction system.
In modern society, blind people face difficulties in navigating common environments such as sidewalks, elevators, and crosswalks. Research has been conducted to alleviate these inconveniences for the visually impaired through the use of visual and audio aids. However, such research often encounters limitations when it comes to practical implementation due to the high cost of wearable devices, high-performance CCTV systems, and voice sensors. In this paper, we propose an artificial intelligence fusion algorithm that utilizes low-cost video sensors integrated into smartphones to help blind people safely navigate their surroundings during walking. The proposed algorithm combines motion capture and object detection algorithms to detect moving people and various obstacles encountered during walking. We employed the MediaPipe library for motion capture to model and detect surrounding pedestrians during motion. Additionally, we used object detection algorithms to model and detect various obstacles that can occur during walking on sidewalks. Through experimentation, we validated the performance of the artificial intelligence fusion algorithm, achieving accuracy of 0.92, precision of 0.91, recall of 0.99, and an F1 score of 0.95. This research can assist blind people in navigating through obstacles such as bollards, shared scooters, and vehicles encountered during walking, thereby enhancing their mobility and safety.
The database schema is assumed to be stable enough to remain valid even as the modeled environment changes. However, in practice. data models are not nearly as stable as commonly assumed by the database designers. Even though a rich set of schema change operations is provided in current database systems, the users suffer from the problem that schema change usually impacts existing application programs that have been written against the schema. In this paper, we are exploring the possible solutions to overcome this problem of impacts on the application programs. We believe that for continued support of the existing programs on the old schema, the old schema should continue to allow updates and queries, as before. Furthermore, its associated data has to be kept up-to-date. We call this the program independency property of schema change tools. For this property. we devise so-called program independency schema evolution (PISE) methodology. For each of the set of schema change operations in the relational schemas, the sketch of the additional algorithms due to the PISE compliance is presented in order to prove the comprehensiveness and soundness of our PISE methodology.
Recent massive data generation by genomics and proteomics requires bioinformatic tools to extract the biological meaning from the massive results. Here we introduce ROSPath, a database system to deal with information on reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated cell signaling pathways. It provides a structured repository for handling pathway related data and tools for querying, displaying, and analyzing pathways. ROSPath data model provides the extensibility for representing incomplete knowledge and the accessibility for linking the existing biochemical databases via the Internet. For flexibility and efficient retrieval, hierarchically structured data model is defined by using the object-oriented model. There are two major data types in ROSPath data model: ‘bio entity’ and ‘interaction’. Bio entity represents a single biochemical entity: a protein or protein state involved in ROS cell-signaling pathways. Interaction, characterized by a list of inputs and outputs, describes various types of relationship among bio entities. Typical interactions are protein state transitions, chemical reactions, and protein-protein interactions. A complex network can be constructed from ROSPath data model and thus provides a foundation for describing and analyzing various biochemical processes.

In this paper,we present an dffcient way to describe the commplex meaning embedded in video data for the cintent-based retrival in a video database.Intead of viewing the data stored in a file as continuous bit stream,we associate the desired interval in the stream with a set of atteibute and value pairs which describe its meaning.Since the meaning of video data can be cimplex and can change dyamically. It is necessary to com-bine the fixed schema of attributes used in the traditional database systrm with a description method through a set of attribute and value pairs that can be defined dynamically. As the cintent of viedo data can be expressed differently according to the view point of a user,it is important ot maintain the meaning of the attribute and value pairs cinsistently for different users. This paper proposes the dffctive way to manage the set of attri-bute and value pairs. In addition,it also describes a way to define a new video presentation by separating a video stream phsycally or by sharing the portion of a bit stream, and the new method can minimize the required storage space.

SoC(systnn-on-a-chip) requires high bandwidth system bus for performing multiple functions. Performance of the system is affected by bandwidth of the system bus. In this paper, for efficient management of the bus resource on a SoC platform, we present a latency model of the shared bus organized by multiple layers. Using the latency model, we can analyze latencies of the shared bus on a SoC. Moreover we evaluate a throughput of the bus and compare with needed throughput of the SoC platform including IPs such as MPEG or USB 2.0. And we can use the results as a criteria to find out an optimal bus architecture for the specific SoC design. For verifying accuracy of the proposed model, we compared the latencies with the simulation result from MaxSim tools. As the result of simulation, the accuracy of the IS model for a single layer and multiple layer are over $96\%\;and\;85\%$ respectively.
Fair and efficient bandwidth allocation methods using the coalition game theory and the bargaining game theory following the axiomatic approach have been proposed when sending nodes with different traffic input rate try to share the bandwidth. These methods satisfy the axiomatic fairness provided by the mathematical ground of the game theories. However, since the axioms of the two game models are different from one another, the allocated bandwidths to each sending nodes become different even in the same communication environments. Thus, in this paper, we model the bandwidth allocation problem with these game theories, and quantitatively compare and analyze the allocated bandwidth and loss rate of each sending nodes in various communication environments. The results show that the bargaining game allocates relatively less bandwidth to a node with a higher sending rate than that with a lower sending rate while coalition game allocates bandwidth according to the sending rate of each node.
The objective of this study was to propose a new framework for the creative engineering in the product family design coursework. The idea of product family design is a good solution to fulfill customer's requirements and to respond quickly for the technology change. Mass customization based on product family and product platform is a new paradigm with variety and customization through flexibility and quick responsiveness. In this study, the subjects of product family, product platform, product family map, platform leveraging strategy, morphological matrix and module based product family design were reviewed and presented. A new idea generation scheme utilizing SCAMPER method was combined with the morphological matrix approach. For the effective product family and platform design, creative efforts and approaches were utilized and implemented in the coursework process. This will help students to develop creative thinking and approaches in the engineering problem solving.
Due to the continuing technical progress in the capabilities of modeling, simulation, and sensor devices, huge volume data with very high resolution are common. In scientific visualization, various interactive real-time techniques on high performance parallel computers to effectively render such large scale volume data sets have been proposed. In this paper, we present a mobile volume visualization system that consists of mobile clients, gateways, and parallel rendering servers. The mobile clients allow to explore the regions of interests adaptively in higher resolution level as well as specify rendering / viewing parameters interactively which are sent to parallel rendering server. The gateways play a role in managing requests / responses between mobile clients and parallel rendering servers for stable services. The parallel rendering servers visualize the specified sub-volume with rendering contexts from clients and then transfer the high quality final images back. This proposed system lets multi-users with PDA simultaneously share commonly interesting parts of huge volume, rendering contexts, and final images through CSCW(Computer Supported Cooperative Work) mode.
