  • Performance Evaluation of end mills for high speed cutting has been performed in a view of dynamic characteristics and noise-vibration under operation. The tools tested in this research consist of three foreign country made and one korean made. In addition, numerical models using finite element method are established, which are confirmed by experimental results. The evaluation results has been feedback for developing high performance end mills fur high speed cutting tools.

  • This paper is to develop an optical ruer displacement sensor for monitoring high speed spindle. Proper magnitude of optical power as well as amplification of output signal are necessary to improve sensitivity of the sensor. In this paper, to meet the need of improvement of the sensor resolution, we choose proper optical power and amplification level through speculating on optical power of a laser diode.

  • In this paper, We have studied on the critical vibration limits of spindle unit for the high speed ball pen tip processing machine. The vibration of bearing can be measured by FFT, and the influence of vibration amplitude due to the Unbalance, bearing deflect, bite and timing belts tension are analyzed. So, the critical vibration limits of spindle is determined by the X, Z directional vibration of spindle Unit.

  • A method for designing high speed spindle is presented in order to enhance the machining accuracy in consideration of vibration characteristics. Experimetal evaluations of the spindle HS 430 as a prototype are made efficiently with the help of bending vibration modes for nonrotational and rotationalstate comparing with the commercial spindle V430. As a result the spindle of HS 430 shows the superior performance than that of V 430.

  • Although the high speed machining technology (HSM) has been significantly studied in worldwide for past two decades, and has been widely applied in machining processes at many countries, it is not well known in domestic machining industries. The objective of this article, therefore, is to introduce the HSM to domestic industries so that they can apply the HSM on their products and results in improvements on productity and precision. The concept of HSM, tool materials and tool wear of HSM, surface roughness of HSM, and the chip shape of HSM are discussed.

  • 보간기(Interpolator)는 NC 공작기계에서 공구의 궤적 및 이송속도를 제어하는 주요한 요소이다. 보간기는 보간계산 과 펄스의 발생을 전자회로로서 행하는 하드웨어 보간기와 컴퓨터 프로그램으로 수행하는 소프트웨어 보간기로 나눌 수 있는데 하드웨어 보간기는 고속보간이 가능하지만, 유연성이 부족한 단점이 있기 때문에 CNC 화 뒤로는 그 의존도가 점점 낮아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 더 광범위한 기준펄스 보간기의 특성을 조사하기 위하여 DDA, SPD(Smooth Pulse Distribution), SFG(Saita Function Generator) 방식의 직선, 원호, 타원보간 성능을 알고리즘의 처리속도, 경로오차의 측면에서 비교, 분석하였다.

  • This paper describes a transfer matrix approach to analyze the dynamics of a high sped flexible rotor system supported at 2 positions by five ceramic bearings. The rotor system is modelled as lumped parameters in which many factors are considered not only lumped inertia or mass, bending moment, shear force but also gyroscopic effect and unbalance. The equation of motion is derived in the transfer matrix form, from which the eigenvalues equation is also derived. The transfer natural frequencies and modes. The eigenvalues, eigenmodes, campbell diagram, whirling critical speed, whirling modes, and the response of unbalance are calculated and discussed.
