Spatio-Temporal Dynamics of Immigrant Self-employment: A Case Study of Korean Immigrants in Chicago (도시 내 이민자 자영업의 시공간적 역동성 - 시카고 거주 한국인 이민자를 사례로 -)

  • Ethnic entrepreneurship, an important means by which immigrants improve economic status, is widely believed to be facilitated by their residential concentration, i.e. ethnic enclaves. However, the recent immigrants' residential dispersion and re-clustering in some selected well-to-do suburbs portend changes in the role of ethnic enclave as a nest of immigrant entrepreneurship. This paper investigates the impacts of the residential dispersal on ethnic entrepreneurship with a case study of Korean small businessmen in Chicago, Illinois PMSA. The research utilizes the Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) to know the overall changes in Korean entrepreneurship through 1990s and conducts a survey to understand reactions and surviving strategies of Korean enclave businessmen to the residential shifts. Relevant to those analyses is the enclave-economy hypothesis which argues benefit from spatial clustering of co-ethnic entrepreneurs by yielding more business opportunities and higher returns.

Impact of Differentials in Gas Prices on Consumers' Shopping Behaviors (지역 간 휘발유 가격 차이가 고객의 휘발유 구매 행태에 미치는 영향)

  • We empirically investigated how differentials in gasoline prices influenced consumers' shopping behaviors at the gas pump. Among dimensions of many gas shopping behaviors, we focused on consumer decisions of purchase quantity and locations and found that price differentials across regions had statistically significant and negative effects on two consumers' decisions. Our findings provide important implications for the future research on gasoline demand and make a substantial contribution to empirical knowledge about how consumers make purchases in the gasoline retail industry.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically test developed on the basis of the literature review regarding customer satisfaction management and gamer's satisfaction factor To analyze the date collected from 1999 respondents. Frequency Corsstabs Oneway ANOVA analysis was performed with SPSS/PC+ Window 7.5. The results can be sumarized as follows. First, Dissatisfaction factor of game service is game possible area, game being cut off and game use charge. Second, Solution suvject is 'no service' in underground area/big size crowed area and game being cut of. Finally, The most impotant aspects when a customer visits Korea Movement Technology are the friendly attitude of the employee, problem-solving and papid pesponse to inquirce.

기업환경(企業環境)의 변화(變化)와 새로운 은행(銀行)-기업관계(企業關係)의 모색(摸索)

  • 은행과 고객기업의 장기적인 결속관계(結束關係)는 부작용이 없는 것은 아니지만 효율적인 정보관리(情報管理) 및 감시(監視), 도산위기시의 구제노력(救濟努力)등을 통해 기업의 자본조달비용(資本調達費用)을 낮추고 투자(投資)를 촉진하는 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 우리나라에서는 여신관리(與信管理), 정책금융(政策金融)등 지나친 금융규제(金融規制)로 인하여 은행-기업간 자생적(自生的) 협조적(協調的)인 결속관계를 발전시켜 오지 못하였는바, 이를 시정함과 동시에 회수가능한 은행부실채권(銀行不實債權)의 주식전환(株式轉換), 주주협의회(株主協議會)의 운영 등도 검토해 볼 수 있을 것이다. 은행-기업간 주식상호보유(株式相互保有)를 통한 결속관계의 유도는 현재로서는 문제가 많지만, 중장기적으로 금융자율화(金融自律化), 산업부문에서의 대내외경쟁(對內外競爭)의 심화, 기업소유분산(企業所有分散) 등이 진전되는 상황에서는 부작용(副作用)이 크게 완화될 수 있을 것이다. 향후에 예상되는 기업환경(企業環境)의 변화를 감안할 때 은행-기업관계는 기업의 규모(規模)나 신용도(信用度)에 따라 상이한 모습을 보일 전망이다. 은행차입의존(銀行借入依存)이 크게 낮아질 초우량기업(超優良企業)은 국제금융 증권관련업무 등을 위주로 몇 개의 은행과 동시에 경쟁적(競爭的)인 관계를 유지해 가는 반면, 신용이 양호(良好)한 대기업(大企業)과 유망중견기업(有望中堅企業)은 은행과의 전통적(傳統的)인 결속관계(結束關係)를 가장 긴밀히 발전시켜 갈 것이다. 은행은 중소기업(中小企業)과도 고객관계를 심화시켜 갈 것이나, 이를 기업의 회계(會計) 등 경영투명성(經營透明性)의 결여(缺如)는 장기적인 결속관계를 형성해 가는 데 제약(制約)으로 남을 것이다.

  • Increasing of electronic commerce users and high-capacity multimedia data is the main causes of increasing of load and network traffic in electronic commerce system. Increasing of load and network traffic brings the delay of service about client's request. And it's becoming factor that decreases customer satisfaction and corporation's competitive ability. So it is needed to research that consider efficient management and response time of electronic commerce system. In this paper, we designed electronic commerce system based on local server with web cashing function in order to solve load problem of electronic commerce system. And we proposed web cashing algorithm for local web server and analyzed performance by an experiment.

Personalization Strategies and Apparel Shopping Orientation of College Students (개인화 전략과 대학생들의 의류제품 쇼핑성향)

  • The fashion apparel industries have demanded to be extremely consumer-oriented. Therefore, the need of personalization arises. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between apparel shopping orientation and various personalization strategies provided in the apparel shopping process. A total of 422 questionnaires were used for statistical analysis. Canonical correlation and ANOVA were conducted. Results indicated that higher level of demand for "sale-promotion personalization" and "personalized customer relationship" were significantly related to high level of fashion innovativeness and price consciousness. Consumers who seek for high level of "personalized advice" and "personalized fit" were likely to be price conscious and conforming to clothing but not innovative in terms of fashion and clothing. Shopping orientation group differences were also reported in the study. In personalizing of apparel products, distinctive but relevant strategies should be implemented according to the need of the consumers.

An Explorative Study on the Features of Activity Trackers as IoT based Wearable Devices (사물인터넷 기반 웨어러블 디바이스인 활동량측정기의 특성에 대한 탐색연구)

  • IoT (Internet of Things) is recently burgeoning as business applications as well as ICT itself. Among the business applications of IoT, wearable devices are recognized as a leading area of customer devices. This research first identifies customer needs of activity trackers (fitness trackers), as one of representative wearable devices, and mapping the identified needs with the well-known marketing model of marketing mix (4 P's: Product, Price, Promotion, and Place). Survey was applied to university students for identifying current and potential needs for activity trackers. The needs were classified by 4 P's, and according to the results, different from other IT devices, activity trackers has more potential needs. Moreover, reliable distribution channels, offline and company owned shops were preferred, rather than online shopping mall by third parties. The results would provide some valuable implications to not only designers of activity trackers but also business management.

  • The object of this study is to empirically analyze the effects of information support quality and service quality on service satisfaction of department store. To investigate the purpose of this study, literature review and survey were conducted. for statistical analysis, factor analysis, analysis of variance(ANOVA), and regression in order by the contingency grouping method were used. In conclusion of this study are as follows First, The regression analysis had effects on information support quality and service satisfaction. Second, The Analysis of variance(ANOVA) and regression had effects on information support quality and service satisfaction as service quality factors. Result, The information support accuracy and service quality had additional effect about customer relation.

  • The internet is comprised of various users with diverse hardware and software platforms. This paper presents a tourism information system which enables the stable and reliable transmission of information over the dispersed, heterogeneous, and/or mobile platforms. The proposed system assumes XML as the basic document format since it has been accepted by W3C as the standard for information exchange on the internet This paper exploits the characteristics of JAVA and XML as they provide software applications independent of the platforms. The proposed system also deploys Aglet, a mobile agent developed by IBM, to ensure a dynamic and flexible performance of the system over the internet. The system provides the user oriented search and retrieval of tourism information, and also enables the reservation of various services and facilities with mobile devices.

  • This paper is to construction of the data mining preprocessing tool for efficient database marketing. We compare and evaluate the often used data mining tools based on the access method to local and remote databases, and on the exchange of information resources between different computers. The evaluated preprocessing of data mining tools are Answer Tree, Climentine, Enterprise Miner, Kensington, and Weka. We propose a design principle for an efficient system for data preprocessing for data mining on the distributed networks. This system is based on Java technology including EJB(Enterprise Java Beans) and XML(eXtensible Markup Language).
