  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between marriage migration females' acculturative stress and marital adjustment, especially the mediating and moderating effects of ego-resilience. The structural equation models were tested by setting marriage migration females' acculturative stress as a prediction variable, their marital adjustment as an outcome variable and their ego-resilience as mediator and moderator variables. The sample consisted of 172 marriage migration females from Busan. I analyzed the data using correlation analysis in order to discover the correlation coefficient of those variables among acculturative stress, ego-resilience and marital adjustment. I used the structural equation model (SEM) for investigating the relationship among acculturative stress, ego-resilience and marital adjustment and for investigating the mediating effects of ego-resilience. I also used multiple group analysis and two way ANOVA to investigate the moderating effects of ego-resilience. The results of structural equation modeling were as follows: first, it was proved that ego-resilience was exerted as a mediating variable, because acculturative stress appeared to affect marital adjustment in relation to ego-resilience. Therefore, marital adjustment was evident when ego-resilience was low. Second, it was proved that ego-resilience was exerted as a moderating variable, because those with low ego-resilience experienced high acculturative stress and low marital adjustment, and those with high ego-resilience experienced low acculturative stress and high marital adjustment. Such findings point out the importance of considering personal characteristics, like ego-resilience, in the relationship between acculturative stress and marital adjustment.

  • This research is designed to provide basic data to study the life and culture of multicultural families in Korea by taking a look at the clothing behaviors and attitudes toward traditional dresses. To this end, quantitative research was conducted on Korea-Vietnam multicultural families and Korean families. The surveys of the Korean families were completed by 250 married women in Seoul, and those of Korea-Vietnam multicultural families by 104 married Vietnamese women living in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and Incheon. The data were analyzed using frequency analysis, factor analysis, t-test, crosstabs and ${\chi}^2$-test. The findings are as follows: First, the comparison of clothing behaviors of the Korean families and the Korea-Vietnam multicultural families found that they had statistically significant differences in values towards clothes, clothes shopping orientation and clothes purchasing behaviors. The Korean women were more involved in clothes and fashion-oriented than their Vietnamese counterparts. However, the Vietnamese women in their 20s were likely to rely more on social trends than their own needs when purchasing clothes compared to their Korean counterparts. Korean families preferred to shop in department stores, while the multicultural families relied more on discount stores and outlets. Second, the comparison of the Korean families and the Korea-Vietnam families in attitudes toward their own traditional dresses and how often to wear them showed statistically meaningful differences. The Korean group had more negative attitudes toward Hanbok, the Korean traditional dresses than the Vietnamese group. The Vietnamese women showed more interest in information on Hanbok than their Korean counterparts. They also were wearing the Korean traditional dresses more often than the Korean families. In addition, the Vietnamese women showed a stronger tendency than the Korean women that they took pride in their country's traditional dresses and believed that they were beautiful.

First, safety awareness point was an average of 4.10 point which was higher level. Safety practice point was an over intermediate level of an average of 3.23 point. Second, safety awareness had statistically significant difference according to age, year of Korea residence, born Nation, whether or not Korean citizenshilp, monthly income, temper, satisfaction of marriage. Third, safety practice had statistically significant difference according to housing, monthly income, health state, satisfaction of marriage. • The purpose of this study was to examine the dietary attitudes and meal management of married immigrant women according to residence period in Korea. The study was conducted by administering a questionnaire survey to 220 married immigrant women in Korea. More than one third of the immigrant women who stayed in Korea less than 3 years tended to eat a limited variety of foods. Irregularity of meal time decreased as residence time period increased (P<0.05). As immigrant women stayed longer in Korea, they became more responsible for the diet of their family (P<0.001) and had more time to share breakfast and dinner with all family members (P<0.05). Nearly half of immigrant women in all residence periods indicated their husband's family as the most influential factor in acquiring Korean foods (P<0.05). Immigrant women became more familiar with Korean cooking and recognition of nutritious foods (P<0.001) the longer they lived in Korea and more enjoyable meal times with family (P<0.05). In summary, as the period of residence in Korea increased, the dietary attitudes of immigrant women became more positive towards Korean food and diet culture. Further, immigrant women became more responsible for guiding children's dietary habits and offering healthy foods to their family as residence period increased. Therefore, the government and social programs should conduct constant and organized lessons on Korean culture and cooking according to residence period for immigrant women to build up stable and positive dietary attitudes.
