This study was conducted to investigate basic data of development for appropriate management system in broiler. Data such as ages at marketing, livability, body weight, etc. were collected from a total of 53 broiler farms located in Chungnam, Chungbuk, Jeollanam, Jeollabuk, Gyeongbuk. 1. Average of ages at marketing were 32 days. Those of windowless house and open-type house were 31.96 and 32.03 days, respectively. The significant difference among four seasons was highly found (P<0.001). The longest ages at marketing were 32.86 days in winter. Average of livability was 96.25%. According to type of chick house, those of windowless house and open-type house were 95.93% and 96.59%, respectively. The livability according to season showed significant difference (P<0.05). The highest livability was 97.39% in autumn. However, the lowest livability was 95.36% in summer. 2. Average body weight at marketing was 1.62 kg. The significant difference was found in marketing weight by season (P<0.05). The heaviest body weight was 1.65 kg in winter, but the lowest weight was 1.60 kg in summer. Average of FCR was 1.62. the significant differences according to the season were highly found (P<0.01). Especially, the best FCR was 1.59 in autumn. Average cycles of marketing was 5.70. The significant differences according to farms size were found (P<0.05), cycles of small farms and big farms were 5.8 and 5.3, respectively. The ages at marketing were highly correlated with marketing weight (r=0.684) and feed conversion (r=0.439). The correlation between feed conversion and livability was highly negative (r=-0.614). According to the above result, livability and body weight at marketing were badly detected in summer. In conclusion, broiler farms should be controlled through properly environmental management system for improvement of performances.

The Dongnae Fault in the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsular is not a single fault but a complex fault zone composed of numerous minor faults. In order to deduce the paleostress tensor evolving the Dongnae Fault, we measured 329 faults in outcrops around the fault zone and analyzed the geometries of them. Most of them are steeply dipping(>65˚) and fall into three groups striking N10E, N30E and N70E. More than one half of them show the rakes less than 30˚ Paleostress tensor analysis using the collected fault data has been conducted with the Angelier's direct inversion method and the Choi's method. As result, four different principal paleostress axes each of which subtends an independent tectonic event are found. They are; (1) NNE-SSW compression and ESE-WNW extension (Event I), (2) NNE-SSW extension (Event II), (3) ESE-WNW extension (Event III) and (4) ENE-WSW compression and NNW-SSE extension (Event IV) in chronology. Therefore, the tectonic movement around the Dongnae Fault was firstly governed by strike-slip faulting related to Event I. Afterward, normal faults were formed by Event II and Event III. Finally, the dextral strike-slip faults along the major trace of the Dongnae Fault were formed in NNE direction related to Event IV.

Genetic mutations by gene fusion result from chromosomal rearrangement, trans-splicing, and intergenic splicing. Trans-splicing is a phenomenon in which two pre-mRNAs grow together into one. We analyzed the trans-splicing products in embryonic stem cells. By using bioinformatic tools, 70 trans-splicing transcripts were identified. They are classified into 6 types according to fusion pattern: 5'UTR-5'UTR, 5'UTR-3'UTR, 3'UTR-3'UTR, 5'UTR-CDS, 3'UTR-CDS, CDS-CDS. The fusion products are more abundant in CDS regions than in UTR regions, which contain multiple intron numbers. Chromosome analysis showing gene fusion via trans-splicing indicated that chromosomes 17 and 19 were activated. These data are of great use for further studies in relation to fusion genes and human diseases.
This study estimated how much carbon can be sequestered if we plant trees in non-forested areas in the 36 hole Oak Valley Golf Courses in Gangwon Province, Korea. We identified plantable areas where planting trees will not affect golf game using high resolution aerial photography and ground survey and estimated the annual carbon sequestration rate of the planted trees using biomass equations. Of the golf courses, 30.3% were covered by forest. Other major land cover types include lawn, waterbody, baresoil, buildings, and roads. The plantable areas consist of $106,101m^2$ of lawn (6.0% of the study site) and $177,531m^2$ of low density forest (10.1% of the study site). We assumed to plant Mongolian oaks with 10 cm in diameter at brest height with the density of $0.3/m^2$ in the lawn and $0.2/m^2$ in the low density forest. The planting simulation shows that the total number of the newly planted trees were 67,336, and the total carbon sequestered during the subsequent year was 392.9 tC/yr, which offset 12.5% of the total carbon emitted from the golf courses. The annual carbon sequestration rate gradually increases and reaches its maximum level at 440.5 tC/yr in 15 years since the initial reforestation (14.0% of the carbon emission from the golf courses).
Three-dimensional finite-difference simulation in a small-scale half-sphere basin with planar free-surface is performed for an arbitrary shear-dislocation point source. A new scheme to deal with free-surface boundary condition is presented. Then basin parameters are examined to understand main characteristics on ground-motion response in the basin. To analyze the frequency content of ground motion in the basin, spectral amplitudes are compared with each other for four sites inside and outside the basin. Also particle motions for those sites are examined to find which kind of wave plays a dominant role in ground-motion response. The results show that seismic energy is concentrated on a marginal area of the basin far from the source. This focusing effect is mainly due to constructive interference of the direct Swave with basin-edge induced surface waves. Also, ground-motion amplification over the deepest part of the basin is relatively lower than that above shallow basin edge. In the small-scale basin with relatively simple bedrock interface, therefore, the ground-motion amplification may be more related to the source azimuth or direction of the incident waves into the basin rather than depth of it.

A novel tracking method is proposed to find coronary artery using high-order curve model in coronary CTA(Computed Tomography Angiography). The proposed method quickly generates numerous artificial trajectories represented by high-order curves, and each trajectory has its own cost. The only high-ranked trajectories, located in the target structure, are selected depending on their costs, and then an optimal curve as the centerline will be found. After tracking, each optimal curve segment is connected, where optimal curve segments share the same point, to a single curve and it is a piecewise smooth curve. We demonstrated the high-order curve is a proper model for classification of coronary artery. The experimental results on public data set sho that the proposed method is comparable at both accuracy and running time to the state-of-the-art methods.

Concentrations of selected heavy metals (Al, Fe, Mn, Cr, Cu, Ni, Zn, Pb, As and Cd) in surface sediments from 96 sites in Masan and Jinhae Bay were studied in order to understand metal contamination. Results show that the surface sediments were mainly enriched by Cu (18-294 ppm), Zn (67-568 ppm), Pb (10-120 ppm) and Cd (0.2-3.5 ppm). The coastal zone of Masan Bay was significantly more contaminated than the non-coastal zone, and spatial distribution pattern suggested additional sources of heavy metal input in the coastal area. The enrichment ratio and geoaccumulation index ($I_{geo}$) have been calculated and the relative contamination levels assessed in the study area. The enrichment ratios of Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd in Masan Bay have been observed to be relatively high. $I_{geo}$ results reveal that the study area is not contaminated with respect to Fe, Mn, Cr and Ni; moderately to strongly contaminated with Cu, Zn and Pb; and strongly to strong contaminated with Cd. The high contents of Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd in the study area result from anthropogenic activities in the catchment area. Based on the eight different sediment quality guideline values from USA (ERL, ERM), Canada (TEL, PEL), Australia/New Zealand (ISQG-high, ISQG-low) and Hong Kong (ISQV-low, ISQV-high), sediment quality of Masan and Jinhae Bay was also assessed and characterized.
The objective of this paper is to investigate the factors determining the premium of coffee shops by using coffee-shop lease cases at main retail trade areas in Seoul. The focus is on analyzing that the coffee-shops' the sales, building, location and retail trade area characteristics affects the coffee shop's premium. The major findings are as follows. First, there is a high positive correlation between the premium and the sales, and the sales and the size of the shop are shown to be statistically significant variables in estimating the premium per $3.3m^2$. It means that the shop's sale is empirically important an independent variable in determining the premium and as the major costs in the process of starting the business. Second, the deposit money per $3.3m^2$ and public service officers in the retail areas are important in determining the premium. Third, the size of the shop have the effects on the premium per $3.3m^2$ negatively. In short, this study adopts the research hypothesis that retail trade area, location, building of the characteristics, which is located in the coffee shops have the effects on the premium.
To characterize $\gamma$-glutamyltranspeptidase ($\gamma$-GTP or ggt; EC 2. 3. 2. 2.) gene of Bacillus subtilis BS 62, the $\gamma$-GTP gene of BS 62 was prepared from PCR products amplified with the chromosomal DNA. The $\gamma$-GTP gene of about 2.5 kb was sequenced, and its homology was compared with the other ggt genes which were reported previously. The base sequence of the gene appeared to have an open reading frame of 1,758 bp encoding a protein of 62,175 Da. The coding region was flanked by putative ribosome binding site - AGGAGG of 7th to 12th upstream - and the stem-loof sequence was followed by transcription terminator codon. Homology of the amino acid residues sequence consisting of 587 amino acid residues was found as 98% with Bacillus subtilis gene (BSU49358), 97.4% with that of Bacillus subtilis KX 102, 37% with Pseudomonas sp. A14 (S63255) and 38% with Streptomyces avermitils (AP005028).

In this paper, we proposed a burst mode AGC loop and preamble detector applicable for VDL(VHF Digital Link) mode-2 using D8PSK modulation scheme and the performance analysis of proposed schemes is described. Generally the AGC scheme can be divided into two types, continuos and burst mode AGC. The continuos mode is performed well only with an analog feedback AGC loop. But the analog feedback AGC loop is not suitable for burst mode since its gain lock time is more than preamble duration, which causes the preamble detector misses preamble. Hence a fast digital AGC loop is required for burst mode. Also the AGC loop has to be designed with full gain during idle time to detect bursts although the signal level is very low. If the time to acquire gain lock is slow, the preamble detector fail to detect burst due to saturation of a lot of preamble samples. The receiver performance might be down even if the burst was detected because the preamble is used to estimate several parameters need to demodulation at receiver. In this paper we analysed relationships between the AGC loop and preamble detector. we present an AGC loop and preamble detector in burst mode.
