현대건축에서 나타나는 다이어그램의 시대별특징에 관한 연구 (A study on the Characteristics of each Period of Diagrams appearing in Modern Architecture)

  • 현대건축의 설계 과정에서 다이어그램(diagram)은 설명의 도구, 생성의 도구로 가장 많이 사용되고 있다. 많은 건축가들이 스스로 자신의 작품을 설명하거나 만들어 가는 과정에서 다이어그램을 이용하고 있으며, 프로그램에 대한 개념과 이를 표현하는 다이어그램은 단순한 매체의 역할을 넘어 실재적 건축 설계 과정 속에서 수용자들에게 창조적 작업의 일환으로써 받아들여지고 있다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 지난 30년간 건축공간구성에서의 프로세스를 나타내는 도구로서 다이어그램을 시대별로 정의하여 건축 과정에서 다이어그램을 통한 건축가의 다양한 사용방법과 디자인 과정에서 적용된 다이어그램의 작동 과정을 비교 분석해 보고자 한다.

  • 건축디자인 초기단계에서 다이어그램은 아이디어 및 디자인 해결방안을 도출하기 위한 분석 도구로써 중요한 의미를 지닌다(Wang, 1999; Do, 1997). 이러한 다이어그램은 시각적 디자인 피드백을 가능하게 함으로써 건축디자인 실무 및 교육에서 필수적인 디자인 도구라고 할 수 있다 (Schon and Wiggins, 1992; Gross, 1996; Kurmann, 1998). 최근에 IT 기술이 건축분야에 적용됨에 따라, 건축가들의 전통적으로 고려되어 왔던 인간의 행동, 자연현상, 건축재료, 건축부재, 대지조건 외에 다양한 IT 기술과 관련된 정보를 분석하고 고려할 필요성을 가지게 되었다. 그러나 이러한 다양한 IT 기술은 건축적인 요소들과 접목되어 적용되기 때문에 건축가들은 디자인 초기단계부터 IT 기술의 접목이 가능한 디자인 도구를 필요로 하게 되었다. 즉, 이는 IT 정보와 공간정보와의 관계 및 적용을 건축가가 빠르게 이해하고 분석하고 이를 디자인에 반영할 수 있도록 도와주는 시각적 다이어그램 표출이 가능한 디자인 도구가 필요하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 IT 기술과 공간 정보의 다양한 형태의 관계를 나타내는 3 차원 버블 다이어그램을 이용한 계략 디자인 방법을 제안하고, 이를 기반으로 3 차원 버블 다이어그램을 지원하면서 건축 디자인 초기단계에 이용 가능한 디자인 도구를 개발한다. 본 연구에서 개발된 디자인 도구는 정보의 유형에 따라 다양하게 형태를 변화시킬 수 있는 노드(node)와 연결선(edge)로 구성되고, 저장된 특정 건축정보는 다이어그램으로 생성된 디자인 대안을 평가하는데 사용된다. 일종의 DSS(Decision Support System)인 본 시스템은 디자인 초기단계에서 3 차원 디자인 아이디어를 제공할 뿐만 아니라 다양한 디자인 대안을 빠르게 생성하고 이를 실시간으로 평가함으로써 디자인 효율성을 증가시킬 것이다. 본 시스템은 유비쿼터스 기술이 적용된 신도시에 생성될 통관관제센터 디자인에 실험적으로 적용되었다.

선형 공정표를 생성하는 시스템 프로토타입 개발을 위한 기초 연구 (A Preliminary Research for Developing System Prototype Generating Linear Schedule)

  • 기존의 선형 공정계획은 마스터 스케쥴과 같이 작업분류체계의 대분류 레벨의 작업을 사선의 형태로 표현하는 데 국한하고 수작업으로 작성하였다. 즉, 네트워크 공정표의 정보를 활용하지 못하고 독립적으로 선형 공정표를 작성하여 보고용 또는 전체 공정계획 확인용으로 사용하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 기존에 축적된 자료가 많은 네트워크 공정표를 기반으로 선형 공정표를 자동으로 생성할 수 있는 시스템 개발이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 선형 공정표 구현을 위한 데이터 프로세스 모델, 데이터 플로 다이어그램, 데이터모델을 구축하고 시스템 프로토 타입의 시스템 솔류션 구조, 클래스 다이어그램, 데이터 타입스키마를 개발하고자 한다. 즉, 네트워크 공정표를 선형 공정표로 변환하기 위한 시스템 프로토타입 개발의 선행 연구를 수행하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다.

건축 형태생성을 위한 디지털 다이어그램에 관한 연구 (A Study on 'Digital Diagram' for Creating Architectural Forms)

  • Recently, because of the rapid remarkable development of the digital media, contemporary society is continuously extending and changing over the limitation of the human recognition. But in the field of architectural form creation, a diagram used in the design process of the past is not enough to reflect a complication, contingent and multiple quality of these contemporary society. So, to reveal the rhizomorphous and non-hierarchial qualify of the contemporary digital network society, architecture became necessary to use the diagram with digital media which have various possibilities to present architect's abstract images that the diagram of the past couldn't do. Therefore, this study proposes that the process for creating architectural form with the digital diagram be a alternative to conquest the limits of contemporary architecture, so it present the complicate and contingent quality of contemporary society. Furthermore, it examines the quality and possibility of the diagram by understanding the creation and transformation of the digital diagram, and how to apply to the actual architecture process of the creating form.

구아리노 구아리니의 종교 건축에서 나타나는 생성 다이어그램에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Generative Diagram in Guarino Guarini's Religious Buildings)

  • Guarino Guarini(1624-1683) is one of great Baroque architects who developed new spatial concept in architecture. He refused to static space typically appeared in Renaissance architecture. Instead, to make it possible to generate complicate form and moving space, he made use of generative diagram. It provide him with an abstract machine to generate automatically architectural inferiority. His generative diagram consists of three types: single circle diagram, matrix diagram and longitudinal diagram. The first diagram uses single circle as primary generator and develop this by means of overlap and equiangular division. La Cappella della Santissima Sindone, Sanctuary of Chiesa di Oropa, Chiesa dei Padri Somaschi, San Gaetano are designed according to this diagram. The generator of the second diagram is nine circles in $3{\times}3$ matrix, which provide the base for the interpenetration of space in Guarini's architecture. He inspired this diagram from Kepler's $\ulcorner$Harmonices mundi$\lrcorner$. The Churches of San Lorenzo, Ste-Anne-la-Royale, San Filippo Neri, San Gaetano are generated by this diagram. The third diagram has several circles in Lantin-cross plan. Guarini adopted this diagram because he had chances to design several churches in Northern Europe. The churches of Santa Maria di Ettinga, Immacolata Concezione, San Maria della Divina Providenza, Church without Name, San Filippo Neri are representative examples for this diagram.

건축다이어그램에 나타난 시각정보의 변음방식에 관한 연구 - 렘 쿨하스와 MVRDV의 프로젝트를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Transformal Usage of Visual Information in Architectural Diagrams - Focusing on the Projects by Rem Koolhaas and MVRDV -)

  • The purposes of this research are to correctly understand the relationship between a visual communication structure and a semantic communication structure when integrating and changing various architectural visual information. This study will classify various diagrams, which have been actively applied to the works of Rem Koolhaas and MVRDV when designing architecture, and based on the classification, it will analyze how the expression viewpoints inherent in the diagrams are changed and applied to processing and changing architectural visual information. The transformal usage of the visual information of architectural diagrams is classified into an analysis-centered processing method and a concept-centered processing method, and the characteristics of their usage are analyzed. The former shows an observer-centered expression viewpoint which effectively delivers an architect's analyzed architectural information or intent to a customer or an observer. It also allows an easy perception of the analyzed data, and uses qualitative expression viewpoints. The method combines systematic expression viewpoints, which value a relationship with visual information, and various architectural visual information; uses the combined expression viewpoints as one diagram for delivering various information simultaneously and for changing visual information. The latter shows author-centered subjective expression viewpoints, which are different from reproduction-centered fixed expression viewpoints. This method uses arbitrary expression viewpoints that overly extort, change or manipulate visual information. It shows simultaneous expression viewpoints that integrate various architectural visual information via omniscient expression viewpoints, such as reversing or projecting the points of viewing subjects, which human beings cannot perceive.

디지털 디자인 프로세스로 본 다이어그램(Diagram)에 관한 연구 - 질 들뢰즈의 '추상기계'와 피터 아이젠만, 벤 반 버클의 '다이어그램'을 중심으로 - (A Study on 'Diagram' as a Digital Design process - Through G. Deleuze's 'machine abstraite' and Peter Eisenman, Ben Van Berkel's 'Diagram'-)

  • Among the architects who use diagrams as a digital design process, especially through Peter Eisenman and Ben van Berkel's works, we have specifically got the meaning of their diagrams. Their diagrams act as 'the block of becoming' and we can regard the diagrams not only as a tool of devenir including architect's root thoughts beyond a tool of schematic presentation, but also as architect's intention including devenir thought. And in the case of diagrams which the architects use, we can recognize that architects' intentions are to think that Deleuze's 'machine abstraite' evolve the diagram into various and transformed form. That is to say, Peter Eisenman interprets the machine abstraite as a root thought of devenir by using diagram as medium to reveal the virtual. And Ben van Berkel transforms the diagram by including all external conditions into selected diagram which shows the abstract relations to the elements. We can get the meaning of the machine abstraite from these cases well. This study will play an important role in giving good usage of the diagram in making a form of contemporary digital architecture and showing the direction of form creation field.

건축화 도구로서의 다이어그램에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Use of Diagram for the Process of Architecturalization)

  • This study began from the idea that new materials and awareness in the modern society demand new methods in architecture and focused on diagrams as the tool many modern architects use in their process of architectural design. Therefore, the purpose is re-finding the potential of diagrams as profilerating architectural design media by examining mentions of architects about diagrams, investigating diagrams used in design process and treating comments referring to diagrams, by redefining the meaning of the contemporary architecture and of diagrams in architecture, and by grasping the various methods of use and its process. The design process using diagrams produces synthetic or reasonable process dissimilar to previous processes. Where diagrams are mainly used as tools to relate the segregated parts compressively. On the other hand reasonable process concerns reasonable design advancement to satisfy various requirements or conditions in reality, where diagrams are used as tools offering its phase in the whole structure of various information and relating steps of design each other. Dealing synthetically in the various steps of design process with the various properties originally obtained, proposing a new type of architecture by increasing thoughts and leaving the design process open-fluid, offering process and results having the same value as design process, and satisfying requirements in reality most reasonably, diagrams working in the above-mentioned design process have the potential to narrow the schism among theory, practice and criticism in contemporary architecture.

  • Traditionally, the facility inspection was visually conducted by the managers, and consequently the result can be subjective because of different perspective and experience of them. To solve this problem, the studies on this topic has tried to integrate the UAS. However, it is still concerned to use in practice due to the lack of analysis of the performance factors affecting the UAS-based facility condition inspection. Hence, the purpose of this study is to identify the critical factors as well as their correlations by modeling causal loop diagram (CLD). A total of 20 variables were derived in four categorized groups, and the relationships were analyzed. Further study will develop a system dynamics (SD) model to simulate various scenarios based on stock-flow diagram through the defined relationships in this study.

  • Human activity pattern has been changed as the contemporary urban society changes. Diverse activities repeat regular patterns as time passes. Diagram is a simple drawing which aims to organize and unify various information. The elements of the social behaviour could be spatialized by means of diagram applications. By using diagrams, architects understand contemporary urban society and form new space conditions. Time-based activity patterns consists of activity pattern in a restricted space and in urban structure for space use. Activity patterns for different time zones are explained by two types of diagrams, space occupation and flexibility of space, By the characteristic of space system structred by these diagrams, activities and programs are rearranged and variety of space is allowed through flexibility. Also, programs are mixed to apply to simultaneous occurrence of ever-changing human activities.
