Application Method of Remote Site Monitoring in Public Road Construction Projects (공공 도로건설사업에서의 원격 현장모니터링 적용방안에 관한 연구)

  • The public road construction projects awarded by the regional construction and management office, which is an affiliate of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, are managed by construction supervision officers. These officials frequently visit a large number of construction sites to conduct inspections and supervision tasks. Therefore, the site management efficiency is essential in terms of the time and money spent in travelling to the sites. The introduction of a site monitoring management system is considered necessary to minimize the number of site visits and enable remote monitoring of the construction progress to enhance the business efficiency of the construction supervision officers. In this study, a remote site monitoring system was constructed using web cameras for public road construction works. The trial applications were implemented by selecting ten constructions sites. The effectiveness of the system was analyzed to assess its applicability. In an assessment of the applicability of the verification results, remote site monitoring showed cost savings of approximately 35% compared to the existing site management. The guidelines for applying the site monitoring management system were provided, the introduction plan was investigated, and the improvement method was presented. The results showed that the system is likely to minimize the unnecessary site visits, remove the risk factors at vulnerable areas in the sites beforehand, and prevent a range of disasters and accidents. In addition, the quality of the infrastructures is likely to improve through the prevention of accidents and the elimination of substandard and faulty construction work.

  • Unlike price calculation by cost accounting, which categorizes costs into material costs, labor costs, and miscellaneous expenses to determine the construction budget price, construction cost calculation based on Construction Standard Unit Prices utilizes unit prices extracted from market prices of items from projects already completed to estimate costs of similar construction projects. Although unit price information is collected through construction site surveys to revise these construction standard unit prices every year, but due to the limitations of the site survey method, it is difficult to quickly implement the rapid changes in the construction methods and market prices. As such, an important issue that arose was the identification of work items whose prices need urgent revision. This study conducted research on factors that need to be considered when developing online survey system for monitoring construction site market prices. This study is expected to enhance convenience for users, and provide an efficient data collection and management system for administrators.

A Study on the Application of TACT Planning & Scheduling in Finish Work of Apartment Houses (공동주택 마감공사에서의 택트공정관리 적용에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is using a TACT planning and scheduling for apartment houses construction that have many of same units. Because using a TACT planning and scheduling is concluded time reduction at same units as apartment plan. The main contents of this study are 1) window and door work through the field study, 2) adjust worker assignment to minimize work time variation, and 3) an effect of working time through a case study. As a result, the total working time can be improved $21.2\%$ by using the TACT planning and scheduling. The stu요 recommends that 1) establish an accurate data between work period and resource, and 2) preparation to measures minimization of waiting time before using a TACT planning and scheduling.

A Study on the Economical Analysis of the Composite Precast Concrete Method (프리캐스트 콘크리트 복합화공법의 경제성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we select a site adopting real composite precast concrete method. Estimating real construction cost and imaginary cost appling reinforced concrete method in the site, we compare the costs. Through using high intensity concrete and prestressed concrete, amount of concrete is reduced more than 50% but there isn't big gap in material cost. In the main construction cost of composite precast concrete method, the material cost with production cost and transportation cost are in that, joints and topping concrete are account for 90%. But in case of reinforced concrete, labor cost spent at concrete steel bar and form is account for 30%. In the cost of attached, compared with composite precast concrete method, the reinforced concrete method taken in big portion by temporary work and scaffolding is twice as much as composite precast concrete method in construction cost. Therefore, economic efficiency is excellent reducing 11% total cost of composite precast concrete method from the reinforced concrete method.

A Study on the Model of Artificial Neural Network for Construction Cost Estimation of Educational Facilities at Conceptual Stage (교육시설의 개념단계 공사비예측을 위한 인공신경망모델 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is propose an Artificial Neural Network(ANN) model for the construction estimate of the public educational facility at conceptual stage. The current method for the preliminary cost estimate of the public educational facility uses a single-parameter which is based on basic criteria such as a gross floor area. However, its accuracy is low due to the nature of the method. When the difference between the conceptual estimate and detailed estimate is huge, the project has to be modified to meet the established budget. Thus, the ANN model is developed by using multi-parameters in order to estimate the project budget cost more accurately. The result of the research shows 6.82% of the testing error rates when the developed model was tested. The error rates and the error range of the developed model are smaller than those of the general preliminary estimating model at conceptual stage. Since the proposed ANN model was trained using the detailed estimate information of the past 5 years' school construction data, it is expected to forecast the school project cost accurately.

  • 최근 전체 산업재해율은 계속적으로 감소 추세를 보이는 반면, 건설업의 재해율은 증가하는 추세를 내타내고 있다. 이러한 건설업 공종별 재해유형은 임시구조물과 관련된 가설공, 굴착공, 철근콘크리트공의 재해율이 타 공종에 비해 높게 나타난다. 이는 공종 진행에 따라 변화되는 건설현장의 위험요소를 사전에 인지하여 제어·관리할 수 있는 사고예측 기술 및 대응 기술의 부재로 안전사고가 높게 발생한 것으로 판단된다. 이러한 상황 속에서 건설현장에서 빈번하게 발생하는 다양한 재해 상황에 대하여 공사별, 규모별, 공정별 대응 체계를 마련하고, 굴착공사 중 침수 발생 시 피해를 최소화할 수 있는 실용적인 긴급대응 방안을 확보함으로써 경제적인 손실뿐만 아니라 인명피해를 최소화하는 방안 마련이 필요하다. 공사 현장 재해 상황 중 침수는 태풍 또는 집중호우 시 공사구간이 침수되어 근로자 수몰 등의 피해가 발생하고, 절토면이 붕괴되는 등 2차적인 피해로 이어진다. 이러한 침수의 원인은 공사 현장의 저지대 위치, 집중호우 시 최대 강우량에 대한 대비 소홀, 양수기 부족 및 고장, 인접 배수로 배수기능 불량 등의 복합적인 원인들로 인하여 발생한다. 또한 굴착공사 현장의 침수는 공사기간 동안 개별 공종에 따라 침수발생 양상이 달라질 수 있다. 따라서 각 공종별 발생 가능한 침수 양상에 대한 예방/대응 기술이 필요하다. 본 연구에서 사용되는 HDM-2D 수리 동역학 모델은 2차원 흐름해석 프로그램으로 복잡한 하천지형이나 공사현장과 같은 불연속면에서 유속 및 수심 등을 계산한다. 또한 마름/젖음 현상 등 복잡한 수리현상에 대한 정교한 모의 기능 및 침수해석 등 어떠한 계산영역이나 흐름조건에서도 정확하고 안정적인 모의를 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 공사현장과 같은 불연속면에서 각 공종에 따라 발생할 수 있는 침수양상에 대한 모의를 진행하고 각 공종별 침수양상을 비교분석 하였다. 이를 통해서 굴착공사 현장 침수피해 예측 모델을 개발하여 개발된 기술을 사용하여 기후변화에 따른 강우량 증가와 이에 따른 수재해로 인한 건설현장 침수 발생 및 인명, 재산피해를 최소화하고자 한다.

  • GS E&C had developed the construction management system, PMS which is based on EVMS in 1997. Recently, TPMS has developed for effective construction management through applying daily schedule management and JIT on material, labor, equipment focusing field work. TPMS realizes "Shielding" and "Make-Ready Process" which are the main concept of Lean construction. Through this system, it can manage and plan daily field work, support the field work related material, labor, and equipment planning, and minimizes the non-valuable process. This paper introduces the concept of TPMS, and through established system, it can lead the construction culture and raise the competitive power of construction industry

  • The overall ability to manage the construction projects from an integrated perspective is important due to the emerging of high-rise building constructions. Potential hazardous of low productivity exist in the finishing work of high rise building a distinct example of the projects. Especially, the number of activities that should be controlled during finishing work is more than during skeleton work. Thus field managers should attract more attention to manage finish work activities. The low productivity of these activities can diminish that of skeleton work. Decision factors of the delivery system for finishing works in the high-rise building project is established by means of literature review and questionnaire survey and a basis to analyze the effects of the criteria to the deli very system is presented.

Success Factors of Scheduling in Small-Scale Building Construction with Owner-CM Delivery Method (건축주-CM 방식의 소규모 건축공사에서 공정관리 성공 요인)

  • Recently, projects are being actively promoted to develop a new residential district centered around the metropolitan area, or to redevelop the residential area that was established long ago as unplanned land development. In this residential area, the owner can directly construct the building, and the way the building owner builds the residential house is called the direct construction of the owner. If the owner has the construction management (CM) capability while conducting direct management of the owner, the direct construction can be carried out by the CM method. This type of construction is called Owner-CM delivery method. However, it is very rare for small-scale construction in Korea to be implemented by the Owner-CM method. This may be due to the lack of knowledge and experience about the CM of the owner. In this study, we investigated the actual cases of the scheduling for the residential houses of similar size which were built at the same time in the residential housing complex developed near the metropolitan area. The purpose of this study is to derive the success factors of the scheduling in the small-scale construction from the cases carried out by the Owner-CM method. These success factors of the scheduling can be used as meaningful reference for the owners who want to build their own house in the future.

A Study on Collusion Effects for Bid Award in Public Construction Works (공공 건설공사 담합이 낙찰에 미치는 영향 분석 연구)

  • To estimate collusion effects on bid award in Public Construction works, this paper uses Logit Model, which is a choice variable model. Price, design, competition, and other factors are included, with a special focus on collusion, as independent variables in the model. The empirical results are as follows. First, collusion has little effects on bid award, but great impacts on bidding behavior. Secondly, the score of design is the most important and significant factors among all variables. Thirdly, competition has also significant effects on bid award. Finally it is analyzed that institutional framework and characteristics of public work have some effects on bidding award.
