A Study on the Behavior of Class 900 Flange Joints with Metal Ring Gaskets (금속 링 개스킷이 삽입된 Class 900 플랜지 조인트의 거동에 관한 연구)

  • A flange joint is a pipe connection used to prevent the leakage of high-pressure fluids by inserting a gasket and tightening the bolts. Among several kinds of gaskets available, metal ring type joint gaskets are most widely used in conditions that require high-temperature and high-pressure fluid flow, such as oil pipelines, gas pipes, pumps, valve joints, etc. The purpose of this study is to investigate the contact pressure and stress characteristics closely related to the sealing performance of Class 900 flange joints used in high temperature and high pressure environments. The dimensions of flange joints with five different nominal pipe sizes were determined with reference to those specified in ASME 16.5. The metal ring gaskets inserted in the joints were octagonal and oval gaskets. The bolt tensile forces calculated from the tightening torques were input as the bolt pretension loads in order to determine the contact pressure and stress levels after fastening. Loading was composed of three steps, including the fastening step, and different amounts of applied pressures were used in each analysis to investigate the effect of fluid pressure on the contact force of the joints. A general-purpose software, ANSYS 17.2, was used for the analysis.

  • The purpose of this paper studies the failure cases including with system of liquefied phase injection in liquified petroleum gas vehicle. The first case, resulting with inspection the injector of LPG, it occasionally certified the injection damage phenomenon that the fuel efficiency(km/l) was decreased to 5% by carbon deposit with injector hole when the driver operates the vehicle. The second case, it certified the interference phenomenon of air flow with carbon deposit in ISA system control for idle speed of engine and throttle body suppling air into engine. As a result, the fuel efficiency was decreased 7%. The third case, the outer air during intake stroke was intermittently flowed in this gasket gap because of weaken adhesion power phenomenon for cylinder block by intake manifold gasket tearing. Consequentially, it certified the decrease for fuel efficiency to 3% by risen the amount of fuel injection as the air inflow quantity. These failure examples reduced the power performance of engine and the fuel efficiency of vehicle. It have to minimize of failure phenomenon preparing through quality management.

  • Producing extremely stable high temperature and pressure condition is crucial in order to synthesize novel materials with various functions and to investigate their static and dynamic properties. Already a high pressure in the Mbar range, which is necessary to make novel materials, can be acquired by using a Diamond Anvil Cell (DAC), In this study, a laser-heating system combined with the DAC was designed and installed using two 1064-nm, 100-W fiber lasers on different sides of the DAC to heat the sample and three spectrometers to measure the temperature, pressure, and Raman spectra. A stainless-steel gasket, which is generally used as a sample chamber in high-pressure experiments, was heated to make a thermal radiation source, and the temperature of the heated gasket was obtained by measuring the spectrum of the radiation. By applying this technique, we were able to make various materials and to investigate their physical properties under extreme conditions.

Estimation on Serrated Core Machining Load for Metal Gasket using Elasto-plastic Analysis (탄소성해석을 이용한 금속 개스킷용 톱니형 코어 가공 하중 평가)

  • In this study, finite element analysis is carried out to estimate horizontal forces needed for the required power calculation and vertical forces applied on the structural analysis model for the development of automatic serrated surface at metal gasket core machining system. By considering of elasto-plastic material characteristics, nonlinear contact analysis was conducted to compute these loads according to the change of roll reduction, frictional coefficient and core thickness. As the result, horizontal and vertical reaction force variations are found according to parameters and maximum reaction force is also confirmed to be most affected by roll reduction.

  • 22.9kV-y 3상 4선식 다중접지 배전계통에 사용하는 단상의 표준형 주상변압기의 규격이 2003. 03에 제정이되었다. 표준형 주상변압기는 기존의 일반형, 저손실형, tap형, tapless형, 내염형 등의 다양한 종류의 제품을 기준치와 구조를 통일하여 표준화된 규격이다. 표준형 주상변압기에 사용하는 재료의 평가는 외함, 접지단자, 압착단자, 개스킷 절연유 붓싱단자, 애자의 홉습, 및 기타시험을 실시하며, 평가시험은 한전규격 KS 및 IEEE 등의 국제 표준규격을 기본으로 평가를 하여야 한다. 본 평가기술에서는 재료시험에 대한 시험방법을 검토하고 시험에 적용하여 시험 시 문제점을 도출하고 시험방법을 정립하여 주요업체의 재료에 대한 비교평가하고자 한다.

게이트 밸브 출고누설검사 시스템 설계

  • 게이트 밸브는 진공 시스템 구성에 있어서 빠질 수 없는 중요한 부품 중 하나로 공간을 구획하여 필요에 따라 자유롭게 진공 상태와 대기 개방 상태가 공존하도록 만들어 주며 진공펌프와 같은 주요 기기들의 탈착 및 교체를 용이하게 해 준다. 게이트 밸브는 열린 상태에서는 저항이 최소화되는 반면 닫힌 상태에서는 마치 마구리 플랜지로 막은 것처럼 완벽한 차단이 요구된다. 일반적으로 게이트 밸브 상용제품은 개스킷이 닿는 밸브 시트가 한쪽에만 마련되어 있으므로 디스크 기계구조가 충분한 압력을 발휘하지 못한다면 어느 쪽이 대기압인가에 따라 디스크를 미는 힘의 크기가 변하여 기밀특성이 달라질 수 있다. 따라서 게이트 밸브의 누설검사는 순방향과 역방향 모두에 대해 시행해야 한다. 양방향 누설검사를 위해 한쪽 밸브 공간을 배기하고 반대쪽 공간에 헬륨을 뿌리는 작업을 교대로 하려면 배기시간의 단축과 신속한 잔류 헬륨기체 제거가 필수적이다. 게이트 밸브 제조 공장에서 상품을 출하하기 위한 시험검사라는 것을 전제로 합리적인 시간 내에 정확한 누설검사를 일관성 있게 할 수 있는 적절한 누설검사 시스템을 설계하고 측정절차를 상용 게이트 밸브에 대해 적용해 보았다.

A Study on Physical Properties and Life Time Prediction of ACM Rubber for Automotive Engine Gasket (자동차 엔진 개스킷용 아크릴 고무의 물리적 특성과 수명 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Material characteristics and the prediction of life time of polyacrylic rubber (ACM) for automotive engine gasket were studied. Two kinds of ACM rubber compounds, having chlorine cure-site and carboxyl cure-site, were made with optimum formulations and the properties of each materials were examined. As a test results for the thermal properties and compression set, which are very important in the application for the automotive engine gasket, the compound using ACM with carboxyl cure-site was evaluated as having a better characteristics than that of ACM with chlorine cure-site. Arrhenius relationship based on time-temperature superposition principle (TTSP) was obtained through the accelerated heat aging test to predict the useful life-time for the compound using ACM with carboxyl cure-site.

  • This paper reports the electrical conductivity and the stress-strain behavior of silver particle-filled silicone composite pastes for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding gasket materials. The percolation threshold (critical concentration) of the composite paste obtained by incorporating irregular sphere-shaped silver particles and room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone resin was determined from the electrical conductivity result. At about 28 vol% Beading of untreated silver particles, the percolation phenomenon occurred and at this critical concentration, the volumetric resistivity, the tensile strength, and the elongation of the pastes were investigated. This work also suggests that the stress-strain characteristics of a composite paste filled with metal particles above the percolation threshold may be effectively improved by properly selecting a coupling agent.

  • A numerical analysis on engine coolant is made by the use of FVM based general purpose 3 dimensional Navier-Stokes solver, TURB-3D. Numerical solutions are verified by comparison with the experimental data of Lotus model. The results show a good qualitative as well as quantitative comparison. Coolant flow rate control is attempted through adjusting the cross section area of passage base on the results of an original coolant passage. It is concluded from the results that the flow rate control is possible as attempted, and thus can be used in the real engine design.

  • The power supply system is one of the most important infrafacilities which should maintain their inherent function during and after earthquakes. This study was performed to analyze dynamic characteristics and seismic performance of Korean typical 154kV transformer porcelain bushing. For the purpose of this study, actual 154kV porcelain bushings were selected and tested on the shaking table. The vibration tests consist of modal identification tests, seismic performance tests, and fragility tests. The sine sweep waves, artificial earthquake waves, and continuous resonant sine waves were used as shaking table motions. This paper describes the test specimens, shaking facilities, and test methods. Natural frequencies and damping ratios of the bushing have been evaluated from the experimental data. The failure mode and the performance level of the Korean transformer bushing have been first identified in this study.
