Factors related to job expectations and career planning of nursing students (간호학생의 업무기대감과 진로계획의 영향요인)

  • This cross-sectional correlational study investigated factors affecting career planning of nursing students, focusing on the associations between satisfaction of academic major, perceived professional competence, and job expectations. Data from 255 nursing students were collected through self-administered questionnaire surveys on 2016 January 4 and 7 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, t-tests, bootstrapping SPSS macro and path analysis using AMOS. There were significant correlations between major satisfaction, professional competence, and job expectations. Both major satisfaction and professional competence were significant factors influencing job expectations, but their effects on job expectations were significantly different depending on whether there was a role-model, which support a moderating effect of having a role-model. Major satisfaction had a significant direct effect on career planning, but its indirect effect on career planning through job expectations was not significant. Professional competence did not have a significant direct effect on career planning, but its indirect effect on career planning through job expectations was significant. Overall, the results highlight the importance of providing educational support and opportunities for nursing students to explore their own motivation and to have a role-model during pursuit of a nursing career.

Relationships between Integration, Clinical Practice Stress, Department Satisfaction in Nursing Students (일 간호대학생의 통합성과 임상실습 스트레스가 학과만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the integration and clinical practice stress of nursing students and to understand the relationship with department satisfaction. Data collection was from June to July 2021. Data were collected through questionnaires consisting of scales of integration, clinical practice stress, and departmental satisfaction, targeting 3rd and 4th grade nursing students who have had more than one clinical practice experience. A total of 394 copies were analyzed using the SPSS program to analyze the data. As a result of the study, integration showed a positive correlation with department satisfaction (r=.412, p<.01) and a negative correlation with clinical practice stress (r=-.193, p<.01). The predictive factors affecting the department satisfaction of nursing students were integration (β=.406, p<.001) and admission motivation (β=.166, p=.006), which accounted for 20% of the total variance. Integration Performance It was confirmed that the motivation for entering the nursing department affects department satisfaction. In order to increase the department satisfaction of nursing students, it is thought that it is necessary to operate an integration promotion program and department adaptation program from the early stage of admission.

Convergence Factors Influencing Learning Satisfaction of Nursing Students on Non-face-to-face mixed classes during the COVID-19 Pandemic (코로나19 상황에서 성인간호학 비대면 혼합수업이 간호대학생의 학습만족도에 영향을 미치는 융복합적 요인)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the convergence factors influencing learning satisfaction of nursing students in the COVID-19 pandemic after applying non-face-to-face mixed classes consisted of both real-time and non-real time distance educations. The participants were 109 nursing students who attended in a university and completed the self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 program. The results showed that the learning flow was 3.41, self-regulated learning ability was 3.75, and learning satisfaction was 3.98. Learning satisfaction showed a positive correlation with learning flow (r=.42, p<.001) and self-regulated learning ability (r=.75, p<.001). In addition, the factors influencing the learning satisfaction of the subjects of this study were self-regulated learning ability (𝛽=.662) followed by 60.6% (F=25.63, p<.001). Therefore, to enhance learning satisfaction of nursing students, it is necessary to increase their self-regulated learning abilities and to develop and apply training program considering the needs of the educational environment change in the post-COVID-19 era.

The Influence of Perception of Strength and Academic Self-Efficacy on Major Satisfaction of Nursing College Students (간호대학생의 강점인식과 학업적 자기효능감이 전공만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is a descriptive research study to confirm the relationship between perception of strength, academic self-efficacy and major satisfaction of nursing college students and to identify factors influencing major satisfaction. The subjects of this study were 172 nursing college students located in G City, and data collection was conducted from November 7 to December 21, 2022. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 28.0 program. As a result of the study, major satisfaction had a significant positive correlation with perception of strength (r=.31, p<.001) and academic self-efficacy (r=.62, p<.001). Factors affecting major satisfaction of nursing college students were academic self-efficacy (𝛽=.53, p<001.) and advice from others as motivation of choosing major (𝛽=-.20, p=.002), which explained 42.6% of variance. The results of this study will be useful used to develop strategies to improve the major satisfaction of nursing college students. In the future, a follow-up study that can expand the subjects and explain the major satisfaction of nursing college students is suggested.

The Relationship between Satisfaction with Clinical Practice and Clinical Performance Ability for Nursing Students (간호대학생의 임상실습 만족도와 임상수행능력과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this descriptive study was to investigate satisfaction with clinical practice and clinical performance ability for 118 of third and fourth year nursing students. The collected data were analyzed by using the SPSS/PC+ver. 21 program which determined frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, and Pearson's correlation coefficients. The results of this study were as follows : The satisfaction with clinical practice was 3.36 point out of 5 and the clinical performance ability was 3.42 point out of 5. In satisfaction with clinical practice, satisfaction of the curriculum was the highest and in clinical ability performance, education partnerships was the highest. Clinical practice satisfaction according to the general characteristic of the subjects was significant difference in health status(F=3.896, p=.023), satisfaction with college life(F=8.164, p<.001), nursing department(F=4.652, p=.011), conditions in clinical practice(F=11.889, p<.001), and practice workload(F=13.504, p<.001). Clinical performance ability according to the general characteristic of the subjects was significant difference in religion(t=6.682 p=.011) and satisfaction with college life(F=3.440, p=.035). The relationship between clinical practice satisfaction and clinical performance ability was positive correlation(r=.297, p=.001).

  • This study was conducted to describe the relationship of Self-Directedness, Clinical Practice Experience and Clinical Practice Satisfaction of Nursing students. The participants were 223 nursing Students in K City who were surveyed using self report questionnaires from December 5 to December 20 and the data was analyzed using SPSS 20.0. There was a significant positive correlation among Self-Directedness, Clinical Practice Experiences and Clinical Practice Satisfaction. The predictors influencing Clinical Practice Satisfaction for Nursing students were Self-Directedness, Clinical Practice Experience and the factors explained 27.8% of Clinical Practice Satisfaction. The results of this study provided a foundation to develop efficient Clinical Practice program to improve Clinical Practice Satisfaction of Nursing students.

Importance and Satisfaction on Nursing Core Competency of Nurses & Nurse Managers in a Community Hospitals (일 지역 병원 간호사와 간호관리자가 인식하는 간호핵심역량 중요도 및 만족도)

  • This is a descriptive study to identify the importance and satisfaction on nursing core competencey(NCC) for the clinical practical centered nursing education curriculum revision. The subjects were 136 staff nurses and nurse managers at A and B hospitals in K city. The data were collected from December 1 to 15, 2012. It were analyzed using the SAS program through t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test. There was a significant differences in the score of the importance and satisfaction on NCC within nurses(t=12.64, p<0.0001) and within nurse managers(t=6.20, p<0.0001). Also there was higher in the score of importance on professional knowledge and personality area of the NCC, But there was the most lowest in the score of satisfaction on foreign language skills. Therefore education and health care systems should work closely to promote professional competency of nurses and to strengthen the liberal arts education, including personality and foreign language skills of students nurses.

Influencing Factors on Clinical Competency in Nursing Students who have Experienced non-Face-to-Face Clinical Practice (비대면 임상실습을 경험한 간호대학생의 임상수행능력에 미치는 영향 요인)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the influencing factors of satisfaction for clinical practice, critical thinking disposition on clinical competency in nursing students who have experienced non-face-to-face clinical practice. The participants in this study were 163 nursing students at four university. A on line survey was conducted from January 2021 to February, 2021. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, scheffé test, pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis by SPSS 22.0 version. The results of this study indicate that satisfaction for clinical practice, and critical thinking disposition have an influence on clinical competency in nursing students. The total explanation of clinical competency was 60.6%. Based on this, it is suggested to develop a program to improve clinical practice satisfaction and critical thinking tendency to increase clinical performance of nursing students who have experienced non-face-to-face clinical practice.

In the COVID-19 Situation, Factors Affecting Online Learning Satisfaction of Nursing Students (코로나 바이러스 감염증(COVID-19) 상황에서 간호대학생의 온라인 수업 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • This study was attempted to determine the satisfaction of nursing students' online classes in the situation of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to identify factors affect it. This study conducted a survey on nursing students 220 in Daegu-Gyeongbuk area for a month in April 2021. The collected data were subjected to t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression analysis. As a result of analyzing the factors affecting the online class satisfaction of nursing students, the learner factor (β=.29, p<.001) and the system factor (β=.51, p<.001) had a statistically significant effect, the variable with the greatest relative influence was the system factor. As online classes are expected to expand even after the end of COVID-19, for a change to education that can increase the satisfaction of learners, through the development of an online operating system suitable for learning and establishing a foundation for learners to learn independently A paradigm shift in nursing education is necessary.

A Study on the Relationship Between Digital Literacy and Major Satisfaction of Nursing Students: Intermediary Role of LMS Learning Effects (간호대학생의 디지털 리터러시와 전공만족도의 관계에서 LMS 학습효과의 매개역할 연구)

  • This study In order to understand the mediating role of the LMS learning effect between digital literacy and major satisfaction of nursing students, data were collected from 241 students enrolled in the nursing college of J city. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 23.0. The study results show that digital literacy of nursing students has a positive effect on the LMS learning effect (B=.65, p<.001) and major satisfaction (B=.62, p<.001), and the LMS learning effect on the major satisfaction There was a positive (B = .19, p < .001) correlation between the results, and it was found that the LMS learning effect plays a mediating role in the relationship between digital literacy and major satisfaction of nursing students. Therefore, in order to improve nursing students' major satisfaction, it is necessary to develop and apply a program that can improve not only digital literacy but also LMS learning effects.
