The subjects of this study were 289 students at two universities located in C and G province. The collected data were analyzed by multiple regression analysis. The results showed that communication competency of nursing students was positively correlated with problem solving ability and critical thinking disposition. Communication competency was explained 40.6% of the variance in critical thinking and problem solving ability. Therefore, in order to improve the communication competency of nursing students, it is necessary to develop an educational program that improves critical thinking disposition and problem solving ability.

Methods: Data were collected from 158 nursing professors via an online survey, from Jan to June 2019. Results: The study found that four factors affected the organizational commitment of nursing professors: i) type of nursing institution in which they are currently employed (β=-.16, p=.030), ii) position as an assistant professor (β=-.37, p=.012) and an associate professor (β=-.44, p=.002), iii) salary in the 50-59 million won range (β=.20, p=.024), and above 60 million won (β=.41, p<.001), and iv) professor's teaching efficacy (β=-.18, p<.016). Conclusion: To increase the organizational commitment of four-year university professors, job characteristics should be considered. In the case of lower positions and salaries, additional compensation and programs that increase school affiliation should be introduced. Teaching methods training, lecture evaluation monitoring programs, and clinical training may also improve teaching efficacy.

  • This study was conducted to test the effect of flipped learning on academic self-efficacy, achievement goal, cognitive engagement of nursing students. This study used a one group pre-post test design. Participants were 91 students who were taking the health and physical assessment in nursing. The flipped learning was provided for 5 times (10 hours). The data of 91 people who agreed to the study and responded to the pre and post questionnaires were analyzed. Data were collected between September 26 and November 25, 2022. Data were analyzed by frequencies, paired t-test using SPSS WIN 24.0. The results showed that self-efficacy of learning(t=-5.445, p<.001), and cognitive engagement(t=-2.120, p=.035) increased significantly. As a result of the study, it was proved that flipped learning is effective for self-efficacy of learning and cognitive engagement. But it is necessary to conduct repeated studies due to limitations in research design, and to explore ways to utilize various teaching-learning strategies to improve the learning ability and clinical performance of nursing students.

  • This descriptive study aims to examine the factors that influence nursing students' adaptation to clinical practice. Data was collected from 180 nursing students between April 26 and May 4, 2018. A self-reporting questionnaire was employed, which comprised of 17 questions regarding transition shock, 24 questions about social support, two questions regarding the levels of preparedness for clinical practice, and 14 questions about the degree of adaptation to clinical practice. Collected data was analyzed using t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and stepwise multiple regression, as well as by calculating the Pearson correlation coefficient. Subjects' degree of adaptation to clinical practice had a negative correlation with their transition shock. The degree of adaptation had a positive correlation with the levels of preparedness for clinical practice (r = 0.35) and the sub-variables of social support in the domains of friends (r = 0.24), parents (r = 0.32), and professors (r = 0.38). The smaller the transition shock (B = -0.409) and the greater the levels of preparedness (B = 0.766), professorial support (B = 0.228), and parental support (B = 0.163), the higher the degree of adaptation to clinical practice. Transition shock had the greatest influence on the degree of adaptation to clinical practice felt by subjects, followed by their level of preparedness for clinical practice and professorial support. Hence, to increase the degree of adaptation to clinical practice, not only should individual nursing students be better prepared to conduct clinical practice and professors provide greater support, but also there needs to be measures implemented to reduce transition shock.

  • This descriptive study was conducted to identify the factors affecting the psychological well-being of nursing students. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 298 nursing college students attending two universities in G city from April 10 to May 9, 2018. The research tools were used 27 items of Professor Trust Scale, 25 items of emotional regulation, 25 items of Connor-Davison Resilience Scale, and 18 items of psychological well-being scale. psychological well-being was significant different according to gender(p=.019), grade(p=.011), motivation of choosing a nursing(p=.003), major satisfaction(p<.001), stress of clinical practice(p=.002), and current health status(p<.001). There were significant positive correlations between psychological well-being and professor trust, active emotion regulation, support-seeking emotion regulation, and ego-resilience and negative correlation between psychological well-being and avoidant-distractive emotion regulation. The results of multiple regression analysis are as follows. Factors influencing the psychological well-being of nursing students were ego-resilience, support-seeking emotion regulation, avoidant-distractive emotion regulation, major satisfaction and these variables explained the psychological well-being by 55.0%(F=30.92, p<.001). It is necessary to develop a curriculum/comparative programs and student coaching plans for improving ego-resilience which is the most influential variable. Also internal or environmental and social support should be strengthened so that negative emotions caused by various causes can be efficiently managed.
