A study on the development of Gas-Vent Automatic Exchange Machine with Vision System (비젼 시스템을 이용한 가스벤트 자동 교환 장치)

  • 본 연구는 발포수지 공정에 사용되는 가스벤트를 신발중창 금형에 자동으로 교환하는 장치에 관한 것이다. 가스벤트는 폴리우레탄과 같은 소재를 이용한 신발 미드솔 발포시 발생되는 가스를 제거하기 위한 다공질 소자로서 신발금형 상부에 삽입된다. 가스벤트는 소모성 부품으로 일정주기마다 교환이 필요하나 작업공정상 수작업에 어려움이 많아 자동화된 교환시스템이 요구된다. 하지만 삽입되는 신발중창 금형과 가스벤트간은 유격이 거의 없으므로 본 연구에서는 신발 중창 금형의 손상을 방지하고 보다 신속한 교환을 위해 가스벤트 삽입 및 추출 홈의 위치정보를 영상을 통해서 구하고, 얻어진 영상에 대한 위치 데이터를 기계적 위치 추적 시스템의 데이터로 피드백 하여 홀의 중심 위치에서 가스벤트를 삽입 및 추출하여 자동으로 교환하는 장치를 구현하였다. 영상 처리는 패턴 매칭 기법을 이용하여 홀의 중심점을 구하였고, 이를 PLC로 전송하여 기계 작동 제어 및 XY플로터를 정밀 제어하여 공정이 진행되게 하였다.

  • This paper describes two major techniques; image processing and gas vent insert and rejection control, for efficient gas vent exchange and holes detecting on the shoes mold. The key idea is to detect holes on the mold to select which holes to insert and to reject automatically guide center of hole's position. This allows us to save labor time while minimizing defective rate of PU shoes mold forming and production costs for gas vent exchange such as insertion and rejection.. Our experimental results have demonstrated that the hole's detection and gasvent exchange mechanism are more efficient and provide accurate mechanism to mitigate risks of vent injection/rejection failures.

  • Liquefied gas carriers generally transport cargoes of flammable or toxic nature. Since these cargoes may cause an explosion, fire or human casualty, the accommodation spaces, service spaces and control stations of liquefied gas carriers should be so located as to avoid ingress of gas. For this reason, the paragraph 8.2.9 of IGC Code in IMO requires that the height of vent exits should be not less than B/3 or 6 m whichever is greater, above the weather deck and 6 m above the working area and the fore and aft gangway to prevent any concentration of cargo vapor or gas at such spaces. Besides as known, the LNG market has been growing continually, which has led to LNG carriers becoming larger in size. Under this trend, the height of a vent will have to be raised considerably since the height of a vent pipe is generally decided by a breadth of a corresponding vessel. Accordingly, we have initiated an examination to find an alternative method which can be used to determine the safe height of vent masts, instead of the current rule requirement. This paper describes the dispersion characteristics of boil-off gas spouted from a vent mast under cargo tank cool-down conditions in the membrane type LNG carriers.

Design review of fuel vent-relief valve (연료 벤트/릴리프 밸브의 설계 분석)

  • A vent-relief valve performs as a safety-valve assembly for liquid propellant feeding system of space launch vehicle, which relives pressurant propellant tanks during the filling and the flight. At vent mode, valve is opened and closed by driving pneumatic pressure, and at relief mode, valve is automatically operated to set relief pressure. In this study, we have analyzed a basic layout of vent-relief valve which is designed using foreign LVs(Saturn) to satisfy requirements of Korean Space Launch Vehicle. The simulation model of vent-relief valve is designed by using the AMESim code to verify design parameters and evaluate pneumatic behaviors of valve. In this study, we performed dynamic characteristic simulations on design parameters. And we could predict opening/closing time and pressures, operating performances on design parameters. Using this results, we could suggest detail design and boundary conditions of design.

A Study on the Evaluations of Damage Impact due to VCE in Liquid Hydrogen Charging Station (액화수소 충전스테이션에서 VCE로 인한 피해영향평가에 관한 연구)

  • Hydrogen charging station was invested and supported around the world. In this study, the extent of damage caused by VCE in the charging station handling liquefied hydrogen was calculated, and the human and material damage was estimated through the Probit model. In addition The optimal height of vent stack for low temperature hydrogen was set. The damage range is 8.24m in small scale, 14.10m in medium scale, and 22.38m in large scale based on interest overpressure 6.9kPa. In case of death due to pulmonary hemorrhage, 50m of the small and medium scale and 100m of the large scale were injured. Structural damage was 200m in small scale, 300m in medium scale and 500m in large scale. The optimum height of the vent stack is 4.7 m in small scale, 8.8 m in medium scale and 16.9 m in large scale.

A study on the development of gas measurement system in shoes mold and automatic gas-vent exchange machine with computer vision (신발금형의 가스 배출량 측정 장치와 영상정보를 이용한 가스벤트 자동 교환 시스템의 개발)

  • This paper presents a gas measurement system for deciding hole positions on a PU middle-sole mold from computed gas amount. The optimal number of holes and their positions on the shoe mold are decided from statistical experiment results to overcome the problem of excessive expenses in gas vent exchange. This paper also describes a gas vent exchange mechanism using computer vision system. The gas hole detecting process is based on computer vision algorithms represented as a simple Pattern Matching. The experimental result showed us that the system was useful to calculate the number of holes and their positions on the shoes mold.

Study on Adiabatic Performance of LNG Storage Tank for Vehicles (차량용 LNG연료용기의 단열성능에 관한 연구)

  • Natural gas vehicles are being applied to city buses for improving air quality in metropolitan and have proved the effective way to reduce the pollutant emissions. Liquified Natural Gas(LNG) has also attempted a vehicle fuel in order to raise the fuel storage density that is a disadvantage of Compressed Natural Gas(CNG). This paper described insulation characteristic of a LNG storage tank. From the results, adiabatic coefficient of a tested tank was around $40J/h{\cdot}^{\circ}C{\cdot}m^2$ and it was the lower level than gas safety regulation limit. Two experimental methods were adopted to justify the evaluation results and they were revealed that the results were very similar to each other. Also, through testing relief valve operation characteristic it was investigated venting amount of boiled off gas.
