This study shows how the plastic furniture design has developed in general and by contemporary auteurist designers. Plastic furniture design began with Mies van der Rohe's chairs produced with compression moldings, and was later successfully commercialized by Knoll and Herman Miller. Plastic undoubtedly played a significant role in giving modern furniture design its current status with its suitability for efficient mass-production. However, the expectations consumers have for designers have extended by the widespread internet accessibility along with the higher standards of the well-developed design industry, and now mass-production is no more the only key to appealing to those in need. Based on the information gathered from the process above, analyses were done on the works of various design artists in the current industry, which leads to certain suggestions that would help bring the plastic furniture design to the next level as a whole.

The Furniture Industry is, which is taking Charge of the large Portion of environmental Pollution as a nun Consumer of Resources, therefore, in a Furniture Design, active Argument of the Researches and the related Constituents to the Design and Material is very absolutely required recently The Furniture Design which Ecology was applied to can minimize the environmental Burden through the Resources and Energy Consumption Reduction and cyclic Utilization within the Earth Ecosystem, and proceed to the Presentation of the Possibility to solve the recent environmental Problems. This Study was written as part of the first Step in the Development of independent Eco-Label System and environmental Criteria for Furniture and national Furniture Industries. It contains the Definition of Furniture, ecological Design and ecological Furniture (Chapter2). and Chapter 3 Presents Characteristics of ecolo91cal Furniture. Chapter 4 Provides a Summary of the specific Criteria on a Materials used for Furniture Design with the relevant environmental Issues in the Life Cycle of Furniture, and also health 8t safety related Issues and performance Issues.

The purpose of this study is to develop furniture design for the apartment based on the market research of furniture and interior design, and the survey on the design preference of hte apartment residents. The apartment furniture in living rooms, bed rooms and kitchens are designed according to the design concepts of preference image of apartment sizes: that of mid-size apartment(34pyung type) is Natural Modern image, large-size(59pyung type) is Korean Modern image, and extra large-size(81pyung type) is Classic Modern image. The living furniture is designed smaller in order to use the space flexibly, and the built-in furniture of bed rooms is designed simply like the wall of a room to be felt larger, basically. The furniture in kitchen is composed of the storage zone by high cabinets and the display zone by open shelves.

건물 및 주택의 가구배치나, 인테리어 디자인 등을 신규로 구성하거나 재배치하는 것은 고비용의 작업일 뿐만 아니라, 사용자가 정확히 판단하기 어렵다. 가상현실 시스템을 적용하면 공간적, 물리적 제약에 의해 현실 세계에서는 직접 경험하지 못하는 상황을 간접 체험할 수 있어 재배치에 대한 비용 및 시행착오의 오류를 줄일 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 EON Studio를 이용하여 건물 내부의 인테리어를 바꿔가며 디스플레이 할 수 있는 실내 인테리어 시스템 프로토타입을 제시하고자 한다. 현실 건물 내부와 가구를 EON Studio를 통해 구축한 후 회전 및 이동을 통해 재배치 도록 하였다. 구현된 시스템을 통해 제안된 인터페이스가 공간 배치 응용 분야에서 유용성 이 있음을 확인하였다.

The aim of study is to suggest the improvement of the major curriculum used in the department of furniture design in two-year colleges. For this purpose two processes were conducted step by step. The first phase was to evaluate the jobs selected by job analysis specialist and staffs in charge in July 2009, and to analyze what are the desired points for the good adaptability and business improvement in case that student would find job in relevant field after graduating from colleges. Furniture design coordinator hereupon was selected as the object and DACUM (Developing A CurriculUM) was applied to the method of job analysis. In the second process conducted from September 2009 to October 2010, the customized curriculum based on the result from the first phase was newly opened to help student create any design result. This study was composed of the result of job analysis, the customized curriculum based on it and the research of efficiency through the end result and finally the discussion how to improve the customized education for the future. It is no doubt very important process for the step up of quality of college education, the improvement of students' competence and their good adaptability after finding jobs. This study should lay the foundation of different job analysis and the customized curriculums accordingly for not only furniture design coordinator, also for various furniture design-related jobs, and furthermore it should be expected that the continuous research and development contributes to the realization of college education to raise excellent students.

In accordance with the fast changing circumstance, universities are now reaching, beyond the education place of simple delivery of knowledge and exchange of information, to a place of developing a specialty program related with the region and industry to achieve a competitive edge in education. Through these academic-industrial collaboration program, special knowledge and human resources in the university are utilized in the society and it may contribute to the development of industry and breed of career people based upon the real job site can be achieved. In addition, through the practical operation of such developed program, university may contribute to the enhancement of the competitiveness of the corporation to the activation and acceleration of the regional economy and finally to the enhancement of competitiveness of national industry in international level. This study tries to develop 3 technical instruction and support program related with the legion and industry which may conform to the ideals of university and its goal of education and can provide a platform for the education that is closely related with the regional industry and real job site iud may cope actively with the upcoming knowledge society and fast changing regional circumstances. This study will make research and analyze needs of design support from the industry in order to develop a academic-industrial cooperative design support program for the furniture industry which conforms to the regional characteristic and feature and develop and present contents of program in three area of development of furniture design technology, build-up of furniture design information system and establishment of order based education system. The proposed program is supposed to be operated practically and effectively and contribute to the development of new product, to enhancement of company image and finally to the maximization of corporate profit. Also this study is epected to be used as an important material for establishment of order-based education system which confirms to the job site needs that may be analysed from feedback of product results and for practical learning.

The study aimed to classify the types of domestic dormitory furniture, and analyze the characteristics of each furniture type based on the empirical research methodology. The study consisted of literature review and field visit followed by survey and in-depth interview. The researchers collected 140 images of furniture from the web sites of 87 universities. Using affinity diagram, the dormitory furniture was classified into four different types: single fixed type, single semi-fixed type, multi fixed type, and multi semi-fixed type. The finding showed that the use of single fixed type was dominant in the domestic dormitory room, which had competitive price and easy maintenance. Both single fixed type and multi fixed type turned out to be lack of storage space. Meanwhile, both single semi-fixed type and multi semi-fixed type got the high value on the space efficiency due to the multi function. However, these two types could only be applied to a wide space enough for the furniture to be transformed and extended. The study analyzed the main characteristics of the dormitory furniture according to the type classification, and it is expected that this empirical study could work as a medium and database for the upcoming dormitory furniture design studies.

Even though, a quality of the daily goods and furniture are improving as increasing living standard, the neglected people have been left behind as ever. However, tools and furniture of everyday life a certain class that are alienated are left to the inconvenience of everyday life such as the difficulty of purchase route or incongruity with the surround living space. The design that can solve this problem is the inclusive design. When we look closely the previous researches on the inclusive design, we can find that researches on public facilities and industrial products are actively carried out based on the principles and features of the inclusive design, but studies in the field of furniture design are very insufficient. In this paper, we try to study the furniture design incorporating the inclusive design and to include specific stratum without alienating it. The research method is centered on product case analysis and suggested furniture design that 'everyone can use together'. This helps designs in realizing their social values by giving everyone the right to live an equal life.

This study aimed to suggest practical and useful design directions for furniture for the rapidly-increasing university dormitory population. The process of the study took four steps; theoretical research, in-depth interview based on questionnaire, analysis, and development of design directions. Interviews were conducted with 25 university students living in dormitories in Seoul to find out problems with the existing furniture, students' satisfaction with the furniture, and their needs for other options. From these interviews, we found a few problems with dorm units, such as insufficient storage space, spaces too small for privacy, monotonous & standardized furniture design, and lack of multi-purpose furniture, etc. To support college students' complex lifestyles, five design directions were suggested from the analysis, such as a furniture design with highly multiple uses, modular furniture design, sufficient storage space, an application of various colors & materials, and practical use of dead space. Among these, two items were selected to be manufactured by the furniture design company. We expect that our suggested design directions for dorm furniture will support students' complex lifestyles, and satisfy students' needs with highly enhanced and better designed environments.
