  • Large-scale industrial boilers operating at high temperature and high pressure, have a large amount of water, and a large amount of energy is released at the time of explosion. Currently, most industrial boilers use gas fuel such as LNG and LPG, etc. and fuel exists in the same space as equipment, so there is a high possibility of secondary damage such as fire or explosion in the event of a boiler accident. Both special care and management are required to operate the very dangerous equipment that causes casualty 2.51 per accident. For boilers of a certain size or more, the Korea Energy Agency conducts inspections in accordance with the Energy Usage Rationalization Act, KS, and public notice of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Resources. In this research, based on the results of the inspection, the hazard factorss are configured, and a questionnaire is conducted to the inspector, the equipment manager, the maintenance person, and the person in charge of the manufacturer. We analyzed the results by using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process). As a result of analysis, generally recognized hazard factorss are not good management, measurement failure, specification failure, water leak, leak analysis, but connection, welding, scale, and corrosion, etc. are relatively less important. It is judged that the adverse factors that are recognized to be highly important among all groups and careers are already well managed, but less important and adverse factors should be well managed to ensure that the safe usage of the boiler.

  • In the near future, it is expected that the use of autonomous mobility-on-demand services will increase. Considering its complicated service components, including vehicle convenience, driving and matching speed, and platform convenience, the priorities of them will need to be determined for a successful establishment. In this context, this study examined the importance rank of each service component through an online survey of potential users of autonomous mobility-on-demand services. As a result of the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) with respect to the upper-level components, driving and matching speed component is selected as most important, followed by platform convenience and vehicle convenience. Mean rank analysis with respect to lower-level components showed that the in-vehicle congestion level of vehicle convenience, waiting time of driving and matching speed, and pre-booking availability of platform convenience each ranked first. Additional analysis regarding each group was conducted to establish a group-specific strategy. As a result, it would be better to focus on a vehicle than a mobile platform when designing services for the region with a high proportion of the older. Moreover, it is recommended to speed up the driving and matching speeds more than the current public transport, alleviate in-vehicle congestion, and enable the users to book the schedule in advance.

  • This study was conducted to identify the relative importance of the decision factors that should be given priority in order for Gwangyang Port Container Terminal to transform into an eco-friendly port based on carbon neutrality. To this end, three upper decision factors and 12 lower decision factors were derived, and a survey was conducted targeting shipping port experts and port users. The priorities were identified using the Fuzzy-Analytic Hierarchy Process(Fuzzy-AHP) technique. As a result, the importance of the three upper priority factors was evaluated in the order of low-carbon infrastructure construction, legal system improvement, and operational management efficiency. As a result of the composite weight analysis calculated by multiplying the importance of the upper factor by the lower factor, the comprehensive combined importance of the 12 lower-level factors was highest in ① conversion to eco-friendly power such as existing unloading equipment, followed by ② expansion of renewable energy in ports, ③ introduction of energy-saving equipment and facilities, ④ establishment of a circular hydrogen sharing network in the Gwangyang Bay area, ⑤ establishment and implementation of a low-carbon port mid- to long-term strategy, ⑥ provision of incentives to users to achieve carbon neutrality, ⑦ implementation of regulatory measures such as a carbon burden system, ⑧ establishment of an eco-friendly port management system, ⑨ introduction of a mandatory AMP use system, ⑩ expansion of the low-speed operation program, ⑪ expansion of operation of a carbon-neutral working-level organization and education, and ⑫ greenhouse gas monitoring in ports and nearby areas. This study provided the basic basis and foundation through an analysis of the priority of decision factors for Gwangyang Port Container Terminal to leap forward as a global carbon-neutral port, and presented objective criteria for introduction decision factors that should be referenced by the government, local governments, port authorities, and shipping and port-related organizations.

  • The present study was conducted to analyze the quality of the habitats of Abies koreana WILS. by using the InVEST model based on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) technique and to evaluate the economic value by estimating the carbon fixation. Abies koreana WILS., an original biological species of South Korea, may be an essential element in establishing the national biological sovereignty in the future. The subjects of the present study were the national parks in Mt. Halla, Mt. Jiri, and Mt. Sobaek, which are the habitats of Abies koreana WILS. As suggested by previous studies as a limitation of the InVEST model, the utilization of the data from relevant international publications as the input data, due to the lack of the domestic input data, may decrease the accuracy of the modeling. Therefore, the AHP technique was applied for the input data. The modeling was performed with reference to the years of 1980, 1990, and 2000 for the scenario analysis. The result of the modeling showed that the habitat quality was changed most in the national park in Mt. Halla, as the habitat quality score was decreased from 0.96 in 1980 to 0.97 in 1990 and 0.94 in 2000. In the national part of Mt. Sobeak, the habitat quality was changed most in the sub-alpine zone, as the habitat quality score was decreased from 0.98 in 1980 and 0.98 in 1990 to 0.97 in 2000. The habitat quality was best conserved in the national part in Mt. Jiri, as the habitat quality score was 0.98 in 1980, 0.99 in 1990, and 0.99 in 2000. The estimated economic loss by the change of the habitat quality was 19,280,000 USD for Mt. Halla and 8,030,000 USD for Mt. Sobeak. In the present study, the habitat quality of the Abies koreana WILS, the original species of South Korea, was evaluated and the economic value of the ecological services provided by the habitats was estimated quantitatively. The result showed that the ecosystem service model may be used to qualitatively analyze the quality of a habitat located in a specific region and to estimate the economic value quantitatively. The objective evaluation of ecosystem services demonstrated in the present study may be applied to promote sustainable utilization of natural resources and conservation of the ecosystem by predicting the changes that may be caused by external factors including the development of preservation areas.

  • Maeul-soop(Village forest) is a key element of Korean traditional village landscape historically and culturally. However, a number of Maeul-soops have been lost or declined due to various influences since the modern age. For this Maeul-soop that has a variety of conservation values including historical, cultural and ecological ones, attention and efforts for a systematic conservation and restoration of Maeul-soop are needed. The purpose of the present study is to provide information on ecological restoration and sustainable use and management of Maeul-soops based on component plant species, habitat and location characteristics of 499 Maeul-soops spread throughout Korea. Major six categories of threat factors to Maeul-soop ecosystem were identified and the influence of each factor was evaluated. For the evaluation of weight by threat factors for the influence on the vulnerability of Maeul-soop ecosystem, more three-dimensional analysis was conducted using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) analysis method. In the results of evaluation using AHP analysis method, reduction of area, among six categories, was spotted as the biggest threat to existence of Maeul-soops. Next, changes in topography and soil environment were considered as a threat factor of qualitative changes in Maeul-soop ecosystem. Influence of vegetation structure and its qualitative changes on the loss or decline of Masul-soop was evaluated to be lower than that of changes in habitat. Based on weight of each factor, the figures were converted with 100 points being the highest score and the evaluation of vulnerability of Maeul-soop was conducted with the converted figures. In the result of evaluation of vulnerability of Maeul-soops, grade III showed the highest frequency and a normal distribution was formed from low grade to high grade. 38 Maeul-soops were evaluated as grade I which showed high naturality and 10 Maeul-soops were evaluated as grade V as their maintenance was threatened. Also in the results of evaluation of vulnerability of each Maeul-soop, restoration of Maeul-soop's own area was found as top priority to guarantee the sustainability of Maeul-soops. It was confirmed that there was a need to prepare a national level ecological response strategy for each vulnerability factor of Maeul-soop, which was important national ecological resources.
