KCN 첨가에 따른 (K,Na)$NbO_3$ 세라믹스의 압전특성 (Piezoelectric Properties of (K,Na)$NbO_3$ ceramics with the amount of KCN addition)

  • In this study, in order to develop excellent lead-free composition ceramics for piezoelectric transformer, $(K_4CuNb_8O_{23})$ added $(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})(Nb_{0.96}Sb_{0.04})O_3$ ceramics were fabricated using conventional mixed oxide method and their piezoelectric and dielectric properties were investigated as a function of the amount of KCN addition. With increasing the amount of KCN addition, density and mechanical quality factor(Qm), electromechanical coupling factor (Kp) were increased up to 1.2mol% and then decreased. At the 1.2mol% KCN added specimen, mechanical quality factor (Qm), electromechanical coupling factor (Kp), density and dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}r$) showed the optimal values of 781, 0.445, $4.42g/cm^3$ and 443, respectively, for piezoelectric transformer application.

  • In this paper, in order to develop excellent Pb-free composition ceramics for ultrasonic sensor. The $SnO_2$-doped ($Na_{0.525}K_{0.443}Li_{0.037})(Nb_{0.883}Sb_{0.08}Ta_{0.037})O_3$)(abbreviated as NKL-NST) ceramics have been synthesized using the ordinary solid state reaction method. The effect of $SnO_2$-doping on their dielectric and piezoelectric properties was investigated. The ceramics doped with 0 wt% $SnO_2$ have the optimum values of piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$), piezoelectric figure of merit($d_{33}.g_{33}$), planar piezoelectric coupling coefficient($k_p$) and density : $d_{33}=195[pC/N]$, $d_{33}.g_{33}=5.62pm^2/N.kp=0.40$, $density=4.436[g/cm^3]$. suitable for duplex ultrasonic sensor application.

  • Lead-free perovskite ceramics, which have excellent energy storage capabilities, are attracting attention owing to their high power density and rapid charge-discharge speed. Given that the energy-storage properties of perovskite ceramic capacitors are significantly improved by doping with various elements, modifying their chemical compositions is a fundamental strategy. This study investigated the effect of Zn doping on the microstructure and energy storage performance of potassium sodium niobate (KNN)-based ceramics. Two types of powders and their corresponding ceramics with compositions of (1-x)(K,Na)NbO3-xBi(Ni2/3Ta1/3)O3 (KNN-BNT) and (1-x)(K,Na)NbO3-xBi(Ni1/3Zn1/3Ta1/3)O3 (KNN-BNZT) were prepared via solid-state reactions. The results indicate that Zn doping retards grain growth, resulting in smaller grain sizes in Zn-doped KNN-BNZT than in KNN-BNT ceramics. Moreover, the Zn-doped KNN-BNZT ceramics exhibited superior energy storage density and efficiency across all x values. Notably, 0.9KNN-0.1BNZT ceramics demonstrate an energy storage density and efficiency of 0.24 J/cm3 and 96%, respectively. These ceramics also exhibited excellent temperature and frequency stability. This study provides valuable insights into the design of KNN-based ceramic capacitors with enhanced energy storage capabilities through doping strategies.

  • In this paper, in order to develop Pb-free piezoelectric ceramics, $[Li_{0.04}(Na_{0.44}K_{0.52})-(Nb_{0.86}Ta_{0.10}Sb_{0.04})]O_3$ ceramic was fabricated with the variation of ZnO addition. Piezoelectric properties of the ceramic were varied with the amount of ZnO addition and showed the maximum kp value at 0.2 wt% ZnO addition. Qm of ZnO added ceramics showed lower values than the non-added ceramics, however, the kp was increased by the addition of ZnO up to 0.2 wt%. At the sintering temperature of 1110$^{\circ}C$ and the calcination temperature of 850$^{\circ}C$, the optimal values of density=473g/$cm^3$, kp=0.473, $\varepsilon_r$=1403 were obtained.

(K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-CaZrO3 계에서 입자모양과 입자성장 거동 (Grain Shape and Grain Growth Behavior in the (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-CaZrO3 System)

  • The grain growth behavior in the (1-x)K0.5Na0.5NbO3-xCaZrO3 (KNNCZ-x) system is studied as a function of the amount of CZ and grain shape. The (1-x)K0.5Na0.5NbO3-xCaZrO3 (KNNCZ-x) powders are synthesized using a conventional solid-state reaction method. A single orthorhombic phase is observed at x = 0 - 0.03. However, rhombohedral and orthorhombic phases are observed at x = 0.05. The grain growth behavior changes from abnormal grain growth to the suppression of grain growth as the amount of CaZrO3 (CZ) increases. With increasing CZ content, grains become more faceted, and the step-free energy increases. Therefore, the critical growth driving force increases. The grain size distribution broadens with increasing sintering time in KNNCZ-0.05. As a result, some large grains with a driving force larger than the critical driving force for growth exhibit abnormal grain growth behavior during sintering. Therefore, CZ changes the grain growth behavior and microstructure of KNN. Grain growth at the faceted interface of the KNNCZ system occurs via two-dimensional nucleation and growth.

  • In this paper, lead-free [$Li_{0.04}(Na_{y}K_{1-y})_{0.96}](Nb_{0.86}Ta_{0.1}Sb_{0.04})O_{3}$ (y=0.4 - 0.58) ceramics were manufactured using conventional miked oxide method for acoustic emission(AE) sensor application and their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated with the variations of Na/K ratio. The samples in the composition Na/K=54/46 exhibited excellent electrical properties of $d_{33}=300$ PC/N and kp=0.49. Taking into consideration above piezoelectric properties, it can be concluded that the [$Li_{0.04}(Na_{y}K_{1-y})_{0.96}](Nb_{0.86}Ta_{0.1}Sb_{0.04})O_{3}$ system ceramics are the promising lead-free materials capable of substituting PZT system ceramics.

  • In this study, in order to develop the lead free piezoelectric ceramics with excellent piezoelectric properties, (Na,K)$NbO_3$ ceramics according to the amount CuO addition were fabricated using a conventional mixed oxide process and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated. At the 0.8mol% CuO added composition, density, electromechanical coupling factor(kp), echanical quality factor(Qm), dielectric constant$(\varepsilon_r$) and piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$) showed the optimum value of $4.459g/cm^3$, 0.469, 540, 410, 69.57pC/N, respectively.

  • In this study, $(1-x)(Na_{0.52}K_{0.443}Li_{0.037})(Nb_{0.883}Sb_{0.08}Ta_{0.037})O_3-x(Bi_{0.5}(Na_{0.7}K_{0.3})_{0.5}ZrO_3$ ceramics were fabricated by BNKZ substitution using a conventional solid-state method to develop excellent lead-free piezoelectric ceramics for piezoelectric actuators; their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were then investigated. All specimens were in the orthorhombic phase. $NKL-NSTO_3$ ceramics with x=0.01 showed excellent piezoelectric properties. The density (${\rho}$), piezoelectric charge constant ($d_{33}$), planar piezoelectric coupling coefficient ($k_p$), mechanical quality factor ($Q_m$), and dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_r$) had optimized values of $4.56g/cm^3$, 208 pC/N, 0.43, 96, and 975, respectively.

  • As a candidate for lead-free piezoelectric materials, dense ($(Na_{0.47}K_{0.47}Li_{0.06})NbO_3$ (LNKN6) ceramics were developed by conventional sintering process. Sintering temperature was lowered by adding $Li_2O$ as a sintering aid. Abnormal grain growth in the LNKN6 ceramics was observed with varying $Li_2O$ content. The electrical properties of LNKN6 ceramics were investigated as a function of $Li_2O$ concentration. When the sample sintered at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 4h with the addition of 1 mol% $Li_2O$, electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) and piezoelectric coefficient ($d_{33}$) of LNKN6 ceramics were found to reach the highest values of 0.40 and 184 pC/N, respectively.

  • Studies on lead-free piezoelectrics have been attractive as means of meeting environmental requirements. We synthesized lead-free piezoelectric $(Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2})TiO_3-Ba(Cu_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ (BNT-BCN) ceramics, and their dielectric, piezoelectric, and strain behavior were characterized. As BCN with a tetragonal phase was incorporated into the rhombohedral BNT lattice, the lattice constant increased. A small amount of BCN increased the density and dielectric constant forming the complete solid solution with BNT. However, BCN above 10 mol% was precipitated into a separate phase, and which was detected with XRD. In addition, EDX measurement revealed that Cu in BCN was not distributed homogeneously but was accumulated in a certain area. A lower density with a large amount of BCN was attributed to the nonsinterable property of BCN with large tetragonaliy. The dielectric constant vs the temperature change and the strain vs the electric field indicated that the ferroelectric property of BNT was diminished and paraelectric behavior was enhanced with the BCN addition. BNT-7.5BCN showed a 0.11% unimorph strain with a 9.0 kV/mm electric field with little hysteresis.
