Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of [Li0.04(Na0.5K0.5)0.96](Nb0.86Ta0.10Sb0.04)O3 Ceramics Doped with SrO (SrO의 첨가에 따른 [Li0.04(Na0.5K0.5)0.96](Nb0.86Ta0.10Sb0.04)O3세라믹스의 유전 및 압전 특성)

  • In this study, $[Li_{0.04}(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})_{0.96}](Nb_{0.86}Ta_{0.10}Sb_{0.04})O_3+xSrO$ (x=0, 0.0025, 0.005, 0.0075) ceramics were synthesized by the conventional mixed oxide method. The X-ray diffraction patterns demonstrated that ceramics possessed single perovskite structure. The SEM images indicate that microstructure can be obviously affected by a small amount of added SrO. The phase transition temperature tetragonal-cubic($T_c$) and orthorhombic-tetragonal($T_{o-t}$) shifts downward and upward with the increase of Sr addition, respectively. The excellent piezoelectric properties of $d_{33}=170[pC/N]$, $k_p=0.37$, $Q_m=64.12$, $T_{o-t}=153^{\circ}C$ and $T_c=370^{\circ}C$ were obtained from the 0.25 mol% Sr added ceramics sintered at $1,120^{\circ}C$ for 1 h.

  • In this paper, in order to develop lead-free piezoelectric ceramics, $(Li_{0.04}Na_{0.44}K_{0.52)(Nb_{0.86}Ta_{0.10}Sb_{0.04})O_3$ ceramics were fabricated with the variation of calcination temperature and sintering temperature. The ceramics couldn't be sintered at temperature less than $1110^{\circ}C$ and showed the highest density at calcination temperature of $800^{\circ}C$. Crystal structure of the ceramics showed pseudo-tetragonal phase. At the calcination temperature of $800^{\circ}C$ and sintering temperature of $1110^{\circ}C$, the optimal values of $density=4.64g/cm^3,\;kp=0.45,\;{\varepsilon}r=1336,\;d_{33}=254pC/N\;and\;Tc=335^{\circ}C$ were obtained.

  • (1-X) $(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-X$ $K_4CuNb_8O_{23}$ (NKN-X KCN) ceramics were produced using the conventional solid state sintering method, and their sinterability and electric properties were investigated. The density, dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_r$), piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$, electromechanical coupling factor $k_p$ and mechanical quality factor $Q_m$ value of the NKN ceramics depended upon the KCN content and the sintering temperature. In particular, the KCN addition to the NKN greatly improved the mechanical quality factor $Q_m$ value. The ceramic with X = 2.0 mol% sintered at $1,150^{\circ}C$ possesses the optimum properties (${\varepsilon}_r=241$, $d_{33}=78$, $k_p=0.34$ and $Q_m=1,121$). These results indicate that the ceramic is a promising candidate material for applications in lead free piezoelectric transformer and filter materials.

  • Pb(Zr,Ti)$O_3$(PZT)는 현재 가장 우수한 압전특성을 가진 압전 재료로써, 압전효과와 역압전효과를 이용한 압전 액추에이터, 압전 트랜스듀서, 센서, 레조네이터 등의 활동에 대한 연구과 활발하게 이루어 지고 있다. 그러나 압전성이 우수한 PZT 세라믹스들은 Pb 성분이 포함되어 있기 때문에 환경오염뿐 아니라, 경제적인 측면에서도 많은 문제점을 가지고 있어 최근에는 유해원소인 Pb를 포함하지 않는 친환경 압전 세라믹스에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. (Na, K)$NbO_3$은 뛰어난 특성을 가지고 있어 Pb를 기본조성으로 하는 압전세라믹스를 대체할 수 있는 대표적인 물질중의 하나로 알려져 있다. 그러나, potassium의 수분과의 반응성과, 소결시 휘발로 인해 높은 소결밀도의 NKN을 제조하기 어렵다. 이러한 단점을 보안하기 위해 Hot pressing, Hot forging, SPS 등 여러가지 방법을 이용하여 연구가 수행되고 있지만, 고가의 제조공정을 이용해야만 한다. 본 연구에서는 $BaSrTiO_3$의 새로운 고용체를 추가시켜 기본 NKN 조성보다 소결밀도, 유전 및 압전특성을 향상시키고자 하였다.

  • The piezoelecric properties of $(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})(Nb_{0.96}Sb_{0.04})O_3$+$1.2mol%K_4CuNb_8O_{23}$+$xmol%La_2O_3$ lead-free piezoelecric ceramics were investigated as a function x. These ceramics were fabricated by conventional ceramics processing. Piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) and piezoelectric charge coefficient ($g_{33}$) of x=0.2 mol% composition exhibited good properties of 160.3pC/N and 37.4($10^{-3}Vm/N$), respectively.

Electrical Properties of lead free (Na,K,Li)(Nb,Sb,Ta)O3 Ceramics with MnO2 Addition (MnO2 첨가량에 따른 비납계 (Na,K,Li)(Nb,Sb,Ta)O3 세라믹스의 전기적특성)

  • Electrical properties and microstructure were investigated on the effects of $MnO_2$ and the lead-free $(Na_{0.44}K_{0.52}Li_{0.04})(Nb_{0.83}Sb_{0.07}Ta_{0.1})O_3$ ceramics with the addition of $MnO_2$ were fabricated by a conventional mixed oxide method. A gradual change in the crystal and microstructure was observed with the increase of $MnO_2$ addition. For the NKN-LST-xmol%$MnO_2$ sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$, bulk density increased with the addition of $MnO_2$ and showed maximum value at addition 1.0mol% of $MnO_2$. Curie temperature of the NKN-LST ceramics slightly decreased with adding $MnO_2$. The dielectric constant, piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) and electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) increased below 0.25mol% of $MnO_2$ addition, which might be due to the increase in density. The high piezoelectric properties = 145 pC/N, electromechanical coupling factor = 0.421 and dielectric constant = 2883 were obtained for the NKN-LST-0.25mol%$MnO_2$ sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 4h.

  • W fabricated thin film using Na$_{0.5}$K$_{0.5}$NbO$_3$ volatile material by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and studied characterization from EM, XRD, P-E. The density and scale of droplet, which is the defect of PLD, was investigated by SEM but large droplet was not found. The degree of assemble oriented C-axis measured with X-ray diffraction suggests that this film oriented C-axis achieved by $\theta$-2$\theta$ scan and rocking curves shows good self-assemble phenomenon, finally $\phi$-scan does that all of the four directions of the lattice in film equals to those of substrate. P-E hysteresis loop shows residual remnant polarization or saturation polarization value, but it is applicable to memories.ies.

MnO2 as an Effective Sintering Aid for Enhancing Piezoelectric Properties of (K,Na)NbO3 Ceramics

  • The effects of $MnO_2$ doping on the crystal structure, ferroelectric, and piezoelectric properties of (K,Na)$NbO_3$ (KNN) ceramics have been investigated. $MnO_2$ was found to be effective in enhancing the densification and grain growth during sintering. X-ray diffraction analysis indicated that Mn ions substituted B-site Nb ions up to 2 mol%, however, further doping induced unwanted secondary phases. In comparison with undoped KNN ceramics, the well developed microstructure and the substitution to B-sites in 2 mol% Mn-doped KNN ceramics resulted in significant improvements in both piezoelectric coupling coefficient and electromechanical quality factor.

  • The lead-free $0.98(Na_{0.5},K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.02Ba(Zr_{0.52},Ti_{0.48})O_3$-(hereafter NKN-BZT) CuO, ZnO-doped ceramics were prepared using a conventional mixed oxide method. NKN-BZT ceramics doped CuO, ZnO have superior structural and electrical properties than pure NKN-BZT ceramics. For the NKN-BZT-ZnO ceramics sintered at $1,120^{\circ}C$, piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) of sample showed the optimum values of 172 pC/N. The $0.98(Na_{0.5},K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.02Ba(Zr_{0.52},Ti_{0.48})O_3$-ZnO ceramics are a promising candidate for lead-free piezoelectric materials.

Polymorphic Phase Transition and Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance of Alkaline Niobate Based Ceramics

  • $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3+0.2wt%\;Ag_2O$ (hereafter, No excess NKN) ceramics and $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3+0.2wt%\;Ag_2O$ with excess $(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3$ (hereafter, Excess NKN) were fabricated by the conventional solid state sintering method, and their phase transition properties and dielectric properties were investigated. The crystalline structure of No excess NKN ceramics and Excess NKN ceramics were shown characteristics of polymorphic phase transition (hereafter, PPT), especially shift from the orthorhombic to tetragonal phase by increasing sintering temperature range from $1,100^{\circ}C$ to $1,200^{\circ}C$. Also, the temperature coefficient of capacitance (hereafter, TCC) of No excess NKN ceramics and Excess NKN ceramics from $-40^{\circ}C$ to $100^{\circ}C$ was measured to evaluate temperature stability for applications in cold regions. The TCC of No excess NKN and Excess NKN ceramics showed positive TCC characteristics at a temperature range from $-40^{\circ}C$ to $100^{\circ}C$. Especially, Excess NKN showed a smaller TCC gradient than those of Excess NKN ceramics in range from $-40^{\circ}C$ to $100^{\circ}C$. Therefore, NKN piezoelectric ceramics combined with temperature compensated capacitor having negative temperature characteristics is desired for usage in cold regions.
