인광입자(Sr,Mg)2SiO4:Eu2+를 이용한 액체의 온도장 측정에 관한 연구 (Study on Temperature Field Measurement of Fluid using Phophor Particle (Sr,Mg)2SiO4:Eu2+)

  • Phosphor particles ((Sr,Mg)2 SiO4:Eu2+ were suspended in deionized water in quartz cuvette and used for measuring liquid temperature field by using two-color-ratio method. In the temperature range of 23~77℃, it showed the relative error from 2.4% to 4% and the temperature sensitivity of 0.65 %/℃ at 30℃ and 0.95 %/℃ at 77 ℃. This performance is comparable to measurement techniques using thermographic liquid crystal or laser induced fluorescence or other thermographic phosphor particle. Among investigated potential error sources, the particle number density affected the intensity ratio and the temperature, but the effect of laser fluence was not evident.

대용량 입자 발생 장치 개발 및 이를 이용한 항바이러스 공조용 공기필터 제조 (Development of mass aerosol particle generator and fabrication of commercial anti-viral air filter)

  • Since airborne viruses have been known to aggravate indoor air quality, studies on development of anti-viral air filter increase recently. In this study, a mass aerosol particle generator for coating a commercial air filter (over $300{\times}300mm^2$) was built, and evaluated by comparing a commercial particle generator. Then, via this device, a commercial air filter was coated with anti-viral material ($SiO_2-Ag$ nanoparticles in this study), so fabrication of commercial anti-viral air filter was performed and the pressure drop, filtration efficiency, and anti-viral ability of the filter were evaluated against aerosolized bacteriophage MS2 in a continuous air flow condition. The result showed that the particle generation of the new generator was more than about 8.5 times over which of the commercial one. Consequently, $SiO_2-Ag$ particle coating on a filter does not have significant effects on the filtration efficiency and pressure drop with different areas, and the average anti-viral efficiency of the $SiO_2-Ag$ filter was about 92% when the coating areal density was $1.0{\times}10^{12}particles/m^2$.

졸-겔법엔 의한 단분산 $SiO_2/ZnO$ 복합미립자의 졔조 (Preparation of Monodispersed $SiO_2/ZnO$ Composite Fine Powders by Sol-Gel Method)

  • Monodispersed $SiO_2/ZnO$ composite fine powders were prepared by Sol-Gel processing and their surface electrical and UV absorbance properties were investigated. Pseudomorph ZnO fine powders were microcapsuled by $SiO_2/ZnO$ sol fabricated using TEOS[tetraethylorthosilicate, purity 98% and ethanol as a solvent with $NH_3$ catalyst. The effects of experimental parameters such as molar ratio of starting materials on the final particle size and shape of $SiO_2/ZnO$ composite fine powder were discussed. As a result, we could controlled the size of monodispersed $SiO_2/ZnO$ composite fine powders without agglomeration, as well as the good dispersibility in aquous solution. The prepared powders were observed to have the mean particle sizes of $0.26-0.78{\mu}m$ with standard deviations of $0.020-0.063{\mu}m$.

  • Using the ultrasonic pyrolysis method, spherical $SiO_2$ powders were synthesized from aqueous $SiO_2$ sol as a starting material. The effects of pyrolysis conditions such as reaction temperature, $SiO_2$ sol concentration, and physical properties of precursor were investigated for the morphologies of the resulting $SiO_2$ powders. The particle size, shape, and crystallite size of the synthesized $SiO_2$ powders were demonstrated according to the pyrolysis conditions. Generally, the synthesized $SiO_2$ particles were amorphous phase and showed spherical morphology with a smooth surface. It was revealed that increased crystallite size and decreased spherical $SiO_2$ particle size were obtained with increases of the pyrolysis reaction temperature. Also, quantity of spherical $SiO_2$ particles decreased with the decrease in the concentration and surface tension of the precursor.

  • The magnetic heating effect of $SiO_2$coated $ \Upsilon-Fe_2$$O_3$nanocomposite particle due to magnetic relaxational loss of superparamagnetic regime was investigated by measuring the generated heat from nanocomposite particles in alternative applied magnetic fields. The commercial $ \Upsilon-Fe_2$$O_3$nanoparticles were coated by SiO$_2$in water solution with TEOS and the synthesized nanocomposite powders and its magnetic properties were characterized and compared with the raw$ \Upsilon-Fe_2$$O_3$nanoparticles. The 10∼30 nm sized $ \Upsilon-Fe_2$$O_3$. nanoparticles were coated by 5 nm thickness of amorphous $SiO_2$film. The nanocomposite particle has very low Mr and Hc value showing superparamagnetic behavior The magnetic heating effect of nanocomposite particle on surface coating phase of $SiO_2$was discussed in terms of superparamagnetic behaviors of each particles, and their potential for hyperthermia application was evaluated.

원관 주위 유하 액막에 의한 관 외벽에서의 입자 부착에 대한 실험 (An experiment of the particle deposition on a circular cylinder in a laminar flow)

  • An experimental study has been carried out in order to investigate on a particle deposition on a circular cylinder surface. The present study is focused on the particulate fouling occurring in a heat exchanger for a seawater desalinization, in a laminar flow over circular cylindrical tubes. The objective is to investigate how NaCl concentration influences the $SiO2$ particle deposition on the surface of a glass circular cylinder. The NaCl concentration was changed from 0 g/L to 40 g/L. As the experimental results of $SiO2$ particle which is deposited on the glass circular cylinder surface showed, particle deposition rate per unit time increases rapidly with the increase of NaCl concentration between 0 g/L and 15 g/L. After the maximum of particle deposition rate was found at the NaCl concentration of 15 g/L, particle deposition rate remains unchanged or decreases gradually with the NaCl concentration from 15 g/L to 40 g/L. Also the $SiO2$ deposition rate of particles does not have serious variations with the position at present glass surface.

  • The W/O emulsion was formed by mixing hydrophobic nonion surfactants of span 80 and tween 60 with kerosine, and by adding sodium silicate aqueous solution. Precipitating the W/O emulsion by sodium bicarbonate resulted in spherical silica particles. Shape and size distribution of silica particles were observed. The particles were spherical and they have narrow size distribution. Particle sizes were 9.29, 7.39 and $5.73\;{\mu}m$ at homogenizer speed of 2500, 3000, and 3500 rpm, respectively. The particle size was decreased by increasing agitation speed due to the formation of emulsion droplet. At fixed agitation speed, absorbed paraffin oil weight were measured and the $SiO_2/Na_2O$ mole ratio effects on particle size were investigated. Particle size was decreased by increasing the mole ratio of $SiO_2/Na_2O$.

  • $Zn_{2}SiO_{4}:Mn$ phosphor particles were prepared by a flame spray pyrolysis method. It has been generally known that the high-temperature flame enables fast drying and decomposition of droplets. In the present investigation, the morphology and luminescent property of $Zn_{2}SiO_{4}:Mn$ phosphor were controlled in a severe flame preparation condition. The particle formation in the flame spray pyrolysis process was achieved by the droplet-to-particle conversion without any evaporation of precursors, which made it possible to obtain spherical $Zn_{2}SiO_{4}:Mn$ particles of a pure phase from a droplet. Using colloidal solutions wherein dispersed nano-sized silica particles were adopted as a silicon precursor. $Zn_{2}SiO_{4}:Mn$ particles with spherical shape and filled morphology were prepared and the spherical morphology was maintained even after the high-temperature heat treatment, which is necessary to increase the photoluminescence intensity. The $Zn_{2}SiO_{4}:Mn$ particles with spherical shape, which were prepared by the flame spray pyrolysis and posttreated at $1150^{\circ}C$, showed good luminescent characteristics under vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) excitation.

실리카계 물질에 의한 산화철 입자의 표면개질 (Surface Modification of Iron Oxide Particle by Silica-contained Materials)

  • 본 실험에서는 물유리를 사용하여 산세척에 의하여 제조된 산화철 입자의 표면개질에 대하여 연구하였다. 사용한 물유리의 $SiO_2$$Na_2O$의 몰비($SiO_2/Na_2O$)는 1, 2, 3.5이였다. 첨가되는 실리카의 양과 pH에 따라 산화철 현탁액의 분산성을 입자의 표면하전과 침강속도에 의하여 평가하였다. 그리고, 중성 영역에서 산화철 입자의 분산안정성을 유지할 수 있는 표면개질제(실리카)의 양을 도출하였으며, 물유리에 의한 산화철 입자의 표면개질을 습식 볼밀링에 의하여 슬러리 상태에서 실시하였다. 그 결과, 표면처리한 산화철 현탁액의 분산 안정성은 실리카의 양과 pH에 상호 의존하였다. 미처리한 산화철은 등전점인 pH 8에서 분산안정성을 잃고 있었으나, 산화철에 대하여 약 0.8wt%의 실리카로 표면처리한 산화철은 pH 5 이상 중성영역에서 분산안정성을 나타내었으며, 음이온성 계면활성제를 0.2wt% 이상 첨가에 의한 분산안정성이 더욱 증가되었다.

분무열분해법에 의한 MgO-Al2O3-SiO2계 화합물의 분체합성 및 그 특성 (A Study on the Preparation of MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 System Ceramic Powders by Spray Pyrolysis Method)

  • Spinel, mullite and cordierite powders have synthesized from Mg(NO3)2.6H2O, Al(NO3).9H2O and SiCl4 solution by spray pyrolysis method. The two-fluid nozzle was used as an atomizer. The powders of sinel and mullite were synthesized above 80$0^{\circ}C$, but the cordierite composition was noncrystalline for all synthersizing temperature. Those noncrystalline powders were crystallized to $\alpha$-cordierite during calcining at 130$0^{\circ}C$ for 2hrs. The synthesized spinel, mullite and cordierite powders seem to be consisted of agglomerated hollow spherical particles. For all powders, the particle size ranged from submicron to about 3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and mean particle size was about 1.4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in diameter. The specific surface area values of spinel, mullite and cordierite powders were maximum for powders prepared at 100$0^{\circ}C$, and those were 45.9, 25.8 and 13.6$m^2$/gr, respectively.
