Comparative Study on Hydrogen Behavior in InGaZnO Thin Film Transistors with a SiO2/SiNx/SiO2 Buffer on Polyimide and Glass Substrates

  • Previous studies have reported on the mechanical robustness and chemical stability of flexible amorphous indium gallium zinc oxide (a-IGZO) thin-film transistors (TFTs) on plastic substrates both in flat and curved states. In this study, we investigate how the polyimide (PI) substrate affects hydrogen concentration in the a-IGZO layer, which subsequently influences the device performance and stability under bias-temperature-stress. Hydrogen increases the carrier concentration in the active layer, but it also electrically deactivates intrinsic defects depending on its concentration. The influence of hydrogen varies between the TFTs fabricated on a glass substrate to those on a PI substrate. Hydrogen concentration is 5% lower in devices on a PI substrate after annealing, which increases the hysteresis characteristics from 0.22 to 0.55 V and also the threshold voltage shift under positive bias temperature stress by 2 ${\times}$ compared to the devices on a glass substrate. Hence, the analysis and control of hydrogen flux is crucial to maintaining good device performance and stability of a-IGZO TFTs.

논물 담수심이 온난화 가스 배출에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Irrigation Water Depth on Greenhouse Gas Emission in Paddy Field)

  • 논토양에서 관개 깊이를 조절하여 온난화가스 배출특성을 구명하고, 그에 따른 온난화가스 배출량를 추정하여 온난화가스 배출 저감기술을 확립하고자 연구를 수행하였다. 볏짚시용후 담수 8 cm의 시기별 $CH_4\;flux$는 이앙 32일 경에 $23.9mg\;m^{-2}\;h^{-1}$로 가장 높았으며, 이앙 35일 이후부터 감소하기 시작하여 중간낙수 이후에는 $CH_4\;flux$가 급격히 감소하였다. 포화용수량 처리구의 시기별 $CH_4\;flux$는 이앙 32일에 $19.9mg\;m^{-2}\;h^{-1}$ 로 가장 높았으며, 전 생육시기 동안 담수 8 cm와 담수 4 cm에 비하여 $CH_4\;flux$는 적었다. 볏짚 무시용후 시기별 $CH_4\;flux$는 이앙 20일경 $2.2-3.8mg\;m^{-2}\;h^{-1}$의 범위를 보였으며 그 이후부터는 처리별 차이가 컸으나 이앙 50일 이후부터는 비슷한 경향을 보였다. 토양 Eh 변화는 벼 이앙후 20일부터 -100 mV로 낮아 졌으며, 중간낙수 이후인 이앙 60일경에는 50 mV로 상승하였고 논물 담수심이 낮을수록 토양 Eh는 높았다. 볏짚을 시용하지 않았던 구와 포화용수량 처리구에서의 토양 Eh변화는 볏짚 시용구에 비하여 벼 전 생육기간에 걸쳐서 높았다. 처리별 지구온난화지수는 볏짚 시용후 담수 8 cm 처리구가 $6,939kg\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$, 담수 4 cm 처리구는 $6,431kg\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$, 포화용수량 처리구는 $5,222kg\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$ 이었다. 그리고 볏짚을 시용하지 않은 담수 8cm 처리구의 지구온난화지수는 $4,449kg\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$, 담수 4 cm 처리구는 $3,702kg\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$, 포화용수량 처리구는 $3,561kg\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$ 이었다.

Highly Luminescent (Zn0.6Sr0.3Mg0.1)2Ga2S5:Eu2+ Green Phosphors for a White Light-Emitting Diode

  • Green phosphors $(Zn_{1-a-b}M_aM^{\prime}_b)_xGa_yS_{x+3y/2}:Eu^{2+}$ (M, M' = alkali earth ions) with x = 2 and y = 2-5 were prepared, starting from ZnO, MgO, $SrCO_3$, $Ga_2O_3$, $Eu_2O_3$, and S with a flux $NH_4F$ using a conventional solidstate reaction. A phosphor with the composition of $(Zn_{0.6}Sr_{0.3}Mg_{0.1})_2Ga_2S_5:Eu^{2+}$ produced the strongest luminescence at a 460-nm excitation. The observed XRD patterns indicated that the optimized phosphor consisted of two components: zinc thiogallate and zinc sulfide. The characteristic green luminescence of the $ZnS:Eu^{2+}$ component on excitation at 460 nm was attributed to the donor-acceptor ($D_{ZnGa_2S_4}-A_{ZnS}$) recombination in the hybrid boundary. The optimized green phosphor converted 17.9% of the absorbed blue light into luminescence. For the fabrication of light-emitting diode (LED), the optimized phosphor was coated with MgO using magnesium nitrate to overcome their weakness against moisture. The MgO-coated green phosphor was fabricated with a blue GaN LED, and the chromaticity index of the phosphor-cast LED (pc-LED) was investigated as a function of the wt % of the optimized phosphor. White LEDs were fabricated by pasting the optimized green (G) and the red (R) phosphors, and the commercial yellow (Y) phosphor on the blue chips. The three-band pc-WLED resulted in improved color rendering index (CRI) and corrected color temperature (CCT), compared with those of the two-band pc-WLED.

  • Symbiotic stars and quasars show strong far UV resonance doublets including O VI 1032 and 1038, which are known to be major coolants of astrophysical plasma with high temperature T > $10^5K$. We investigate the transfer of $H{\alpha}$ and $Ly{\beta}$ in an emission nebula of temperature T ~ $10^5$, where n=2 population is significant. Line photons of $H{\alpha}$ and $Ly{\beta}$ are transferred in the medium through spatial and frequency diffusion altering their identity according to the branching ratios. We adopt a Monte Carlo technique to describe the transfer of $H{\alpha}$ and $Ly{\beta}$ in an emission nebula with a uniform density and a simple geometrical figure. We find that the temperature of the emission nebula is the major controlling parameter to produce a nonnegligible flux of $Ly{\beta}$. In particular, when T exceeds $10^5K$ the number flux ratio may reach ~ 25% with line center optical depth of a few. We discuss the formation of broad $H{\alpha}$ wings from Raman scattering of $Ly{\beta}$ emergent from a hot emission nebula.

  • 본 연구에서는 추력 650 kgf 급의 PE/N2O 하이브리드 로켓 모터의 지상 연소시험을 수행하였다. 초기 실험에서 산화제 유량이 작게 유입됨으로 인해 연소실 압력 및 추력이 설계치 만큼 확보되지 못함을 확인 하였다. 이를 보완하기 위해 노즐목 감소 및 산화제 유량을 증대하여 실험을 수행하였고, 실험에서 발생하는 연소현상을 분석하였다. 또한 sub-scale과 lab-scale의 실험결과를 통해 scale에 따른 연소특성 변화를 비교 분석 하였고, 동일 산화제 유속에서 sub-scale의 후퇴율이 lab-scale의 후퇴율보다 차이는 작지만 낮게 나타남을 확인했다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 실제 하이브리드 사운딩 로켓 개발을 위해 고려되어야 할 사항을 파악할 수 있었다.

IMPACT OF THE ICME-EARTH GEOMETRY ON THE STRENGTH OF THE ASSOCIATED GEOMAGNETIC STORM: THE SEPTEMBER 2014 AND MARCH 2015 EVENTS

  • We investigate two abnormal CME-Storm pairs that occurred on 2014 September 10 - 12 and 2015 March 15 - 17, respectively. The first one was a moderate geomagnetic storm ($Dst_{min}{\sim}-75nT$) driven by the X1.6 high speed flare-associated CME ($1267km\;s^{-1}$) in AR 12158 (N14E02) near solar disk center. The other was a very intense geomagnetic storm ($Dst_{min}{\sim}-223nT$) caused by a CME with moderate speed ($719km\;s^{-1}$) and associated with a filament eruption accompanied by a weak flare (C9.1) in AR 12297 (S17W38). Both CMEs have large direction parameters facing the Earth and southward magnetic field orientation in their solar source region. In this study, we inspect the structure of Interplanetary Flux Ropes (IFRs) at the Earth estimated by using the torus fitting technique assuming self-similar expansion. As results, we find that the moderate storm on 2014 September 12 was caused by small-scale southward magnetic fields in the sheath region ahead of the IFR. The Earth traversed the portion of the IFR where only the northward fields are observed. Meanwhile, in case of the 2015 March 17 storm, our IFR analysis revealed that the Earth passed the very portion where only the southward magnetic fields are observed throughout the passage. The resultant southward magnetic field with long-duration is the main cause of the intense storm. We suggest that 3D magnetic field geometry of an IFR at the IFR-Earth encounter is important and the strength of a geomagnetic storm is strongly affected by the relative location of the Earth with respect to the IFR structure.

Design and optimization of thermal neutron activation device based on 5 MeV electron linear accelerator

  • The optimized design of a Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) system, including Delayed Gamma NAA (DGNAA) and Prompt Gamma NAA (PGNAA), has been proposed in this research based on Mevex Linac with 5 MeV electron energy and 50 kW power as a neutron source. Based on the MCNPX 2.6 simulation, the optimized configuration contains; tungsten as an electron-photon converter, BeO as a photoneutron target, BeD2 and plexiglass as moderators, and graphite as a reflector and collimator, as well as lead as a gamma shield. The obtained thermal neutron flux at the beam port is equal to 2.06 × 109 (# /cm2.s). In addition, using the optimized neutron beam, the detection limit has been calculated for some elements such as H-1, B-10, Na-23, Al-27, and Ti-48. The HPGe Coaxial detector has been used to measure gamma rays emitted by nuclides in the sample. By the results, the proposed system can be an appropriate solution to measure the concentration and toxicity of elements in different samples such as food, soil, and plant samples.

HCCR breeding blankets optimization by changing neutronic constrictions

  • The neutronic analysis of Helium Cooled Ceramic Reflector (HCCR) breeding blankets has been performed using the 3D Monte Carlo code MCNPX and ENDF nuclear data library. This study aims to reduce 6Li percentage in the breeder zones as much as possible ensuring tritium self-sufficiency. This work is devoted to investigating the effect of 6Li percentage on the HCCR breeding blanket's neutronic parameters, such as neutron flux and spectrum, Tritium Breeding Ratio (TBR), nuclear power density, and energy multiplication factor. In the ceramic breeders at the saturated thickness, increasing the enrichment of 6Li reduces its share in the tritium production. Therefore, ceramic breeders typically use lower enriched Li from 30% to 60%. The investigation of neutronic analysis in the suggested geometry shows that using 60% 6Li in Li2TiO3 can yield acceptable TBR and energy deposition results, which would be economically feasible.

  • 구리 금속 분말과 혼합 알칼리금속 다셀레늄화물 용융염 ($KNaSe_x$) 과의 반응을 통하여 판상형태의 결정을 갖는 $KCu_4Se_3$ 화합물을 얻었다. $KCu_4Se_3$화합물의 구조는 X-선 단결정 회절법에의해 결정되었으며 사반면상을 갖는다. (P4/mmm, a=4.013(1)${\AA}$, c=9.712(1)${\AA}$, z=1, R=6.7%). 그 구조는 안티 PbO 구조를 갖는 $Cu_2Se_2$ 층이 겹쳐짐으로서 만들어지는 $[Cu_4Se_3]_n^{n-}$의 이중층으로 구성되어있다. $KCu_4Se_3$의 단결정에 대한 온도 변화에 따른 저항 측정을 통하여 전도체의 특성을 확인하였으며 300 K에서 $1.8{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$과 20 K에서 $1.0{\times}10^{-6}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$의 저항 값을 갖는다.

북구 이탄습지의 생지화학적 반응에 있어서 체외효소의 중요성-미량기체 발생량 및 용존유기탄소 동태와의 연관성에 대하여 (Importance of Extracellular Enzyme Activities in Northern Peatland Biogeochemistry-Possible Coupling with Trace Gas Emission and DOC Dynamics)

  • 세 종류의 이탄습지 (bog, fen, swamp)에서 탄수유기물 분해에 관여하는 일군의 체외 효소 활성도. 미량 기체 ($CO_2$$N_2O$), DOC 변화 등을 12개월에 걸쳐 측정하였다 ${\beta}-glucosidase$, cellobiohydrolase, ${\beta}-xylosidase$, N-acetylglucosaminidase 등이 각각 $0.008-0.066\;{\mu}mole\;g^{-1}\;min^{-1}$, $0.003-0.021\;{\mu}mole\;g^{-1}\;min^{-1}$, $0.003-0.016\;{\mu}mole\;g^{-1}\;min^{-1}$, $0.004-0.047\;{\mu}mole\;g^{-1}\;min^{-1}$ 범위의 활성도를 보였다. 전반적으로 swamp에서의 활성도가 가장 높았고, fen과 bog의 순서로 나타났다. 세 종류 습지의 자료를 모두 합쳤을 때, 효소의 활성도는 미량 기체의 발생량이나 가용한 탄소의 양과 유의한 양의 상관관계를 보였다. 또한, 4가지 효소 활성도의 평균값은 미량기체와 가용한 탄소량의 변화에 있어서 20-40% 정도의 변이를 설명할 수 있었다. 이 결과로 비추어, 유기탄소 무기화에 관여하는 효소는 북구 이탄습지에서 미량기체 발생과 DOC 동태에 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 사료된다.
