  • Edge detection is the first step and very important step in image analysis. We cast edge detection as a problem in cost minimization. This is achieved by the formulation of a cost function that evaluates the quality of edge configurations. The cost function can be used as a basis for comparing the performances of different detectors. This cost function is made of desirable characteristics of edges such as thickness, continuity, length, region dissimilarity. And we use a simulated annealing algorithm for minimum of cost function. Simulated annealing are a class of adaptive search techniques that have been intensively studied in recent years. We present five strategies for generating candidate states. Experimental results(building image and test image) which verify the usefulness of our simulated annealing approach to edge detection are better than other operator.

  • The aim of this paper is to present theorems on the exitence of zeros for mappings defined on convex subsets of topological vector spaces with values in a vector space. In addition to natural assumptions of continuity, convexity, and compactness, the mappings are subject to some geometric conditions. In the first theorem, the mapping satisfies a "Darboux-type" property expressed in terms of an auxiliary numerical function. Typically, this functions is, in this case, related to an order structure on the target space. We derive an existence theorem for "obtuse" quasiconvex mappings with values in an ordered vector space. In the second theorem, we prove the existence of a "common zero" for an arbitrary (not necessarily countable) family of mappings satisfying a general "inwardness" condition againg expressed in terms of numerical functions (these numerical functions could be duality pairings (more generally, bilinear forms)). Our inwardness condition encompasses classical inwardness conditions of Leray-Schauder, Altman, or Bergman-Halpern types.

  • In this paper, the fluid flow in the two-dimensional tank is analyzed by the Finite Difference Method. The Navier-Stokes equation is modified for the tank fixed coordinate system. For the treatment of the free surface, the Volume of Fluid Method by Hirt and Nichols is adopted. The continuity equation and the Poisson equation which is derived from the Navier-Stokes equation to find the pressure are solved by the Successive-Line-Overrelaxation Method. The comparison of the calculated results with experimental data show a favorable agreement. The fluid flow in the two-dimensional tank can be predicted reasonably before the free surface reaches breaking by this numerical method.

  • In this study, the two-phase incompressible flow in two-dimensional channel considering the effect of surface tension is simulated using an improved level-set method. Quadratic element is used for solving the continuity and Navier-Stokes equations to avoid using an additional pressure equation, and Crank-Nicholson scheme and linear element are used for solving the advection equation of the level set function. Direct approach method using geometric information is implemented instead of the hyperbolic-type partial differential equation for the reinitializing the level set function. The benchmark test case considers various arrays of defomable droplets under different flow conditions in straight channel. The deformation and migration of the droplets are computed and the results are compared very well with the existing studies.

  • This paper describes the universal-type signaling service equipment which provides a signaling service function (R2 MFC, DTMF, Continuity check tone, and Audible tone sending and/or receiving) for call processing control in TDX-10 switching system. Based upon the structure of the TDX-10 switching system, the philosophy of design and technology on the universal-type signaling service equipment has been investigated in order to realize a reduction in size and cost, as well as assuring high reliability and flexible operation. Finally, the control method, fuctional operation and principal feature of the designed universal-type signaling service equipment have been described.

  • The numerical procedure has been developed for simulating incompressible viscous flow around a turbine stage with rotor-stator interaction. This study solves 2-D unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on a non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system. The Marker-and-Cell concept is applied to efficiently solve continuity equation. To impose an accurate boundary condition, O-H multiblocked grid system is generated. O-type grid and H-type grid is generated near and outer rotor-stator The cubic-spline interpolation is applied to handle a relative motion of a rotor to the stator. Turbulent flows have been modeled by the Baldwin- Lomax turbulent model. To validate present procedure, the time averaged pressure coefficients around the rotor and stator are compared with experiment and a good agreement obtained.

  • Recently, the combination of WLAN and 3G wireless technologies will make MMS service more ubiquitous, bringing benefits to both service providers and their customers. To realize seamless MMS service over WLAN and CDMA2000 networks, we design novel seamless interworking architecture by reusing the existing standards and network elements at the same time. Based on the proposed seamless interworking architecture, we also present seamless notification architecture and seamless handover architecture that can't be possible within current MMS reference architecture. This paper will make a contribution for service providers to provide their customers with seamless MMS service over WLAN and CDMA2000 networks.

  • The device performance of nano-scale center-channel (CC) double-gate (DG) MOSFET structure was investigated by numerically solving coupled Schr$\"{o}$dinger-Poisson and current continuity equations in a self-consistent manner. The CC operation and corresponding enhancement of current drive and transconductance of CC-NMOS are confirmed by comparing with the results of DG-NMOS which are performed under the condition of 10-80 nm gate length. Device optimization was theoretically performed in order to minimize the short-channel effects in terms of subthreshold swing, threshold voltage roll-off, and drain-induced barrier lowering. The simulation results indicate that DG-MOSFET structure including CC-NMOS is a promising candidates and quantum-mechanical modeling and simulation calculating the coupled Schr$\"{o}$dinger-Poisson and current continuity equations self-consistently are necessary for the application to sub-40 nm MOSFET technology.

  • A digital $(k_0,\;k_1)$-homotopy is induced from digital $(k_0,\;k_1)$-continuity with the n kinds of $k_i$-adjacency relations in ${\mathbb{Z}}^n$, $i{\in}\{0,\;1\}$. The k-fundamental group, ${\pi}^k_1(X,\;x_0)$, is derived from the pointed digital k-homotopy, $k{\in}\{3^n-1(n{\geq}2),\;3^n-{\sum}^{r-2}_{k=0}C^n_k2^{n-k}-1(2{\leq}r{\leq}n-1(n{\geq}3)),\;2n(n{\geq}1)\}$. In this paper two kinds of digital 8-pseudotori stemmed from the minimal simple closed 4-curve and the minimal simple closed 8-curve with 8-contractibility or without 8-contractibility, e.g., $DT_8$ and $DT^{\prime}_8$, are introduced and their digital topological properties are studied by the calculation of the k-fundamental groups, $k{\in}\{8,\;32,\;64,\;80\}$.

  • GPS is the most widely-used Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) system. Since GPS is an important PNT infrastructure, the vulnerability of GPS to signal jamming has received significant attention. Especially, South Korea has experienced intentional high-power jamming from North Korea for the past three years, and thus realized the necessity of a complementary PNT system. South Korea recently decided to deploy a high-power terrestrial navigation system, eLoran, as a complementary PNT system. According to the plan, the initial operational capability of the Korean eLoran system is expected by 2016, and the full operational capability is expected by 2018. As a necessary research tool to support the Korean eLoran program, an eLoran performance simulation tool for Korea is under development. In this paper, the received signal strength, which is necessary to simulate eLoran performance, from the suggested Korean eLoran transmitters is simulated with the consideration of effective ground conductivities over Korea. Then, eLoran signal-to-noise ratios are also simulated based on atmospheric noise data over Korea. This basic simulation tool will be expanded to estimate the navigation performance (e.g., accuracy, integrity, continuity, and availability) of the Korean eLoran system.
