We performed a basic experiment for rapid, on-line, real-time measurement of HBsAg by using a surface plasmon resonance biosensor to quantify the recognition and interaction of biomolecules. We immobilized the anti-HBsAg polyclonal antibody to the dextran layer on a CM5 chip surface which was pre-activated by N-hydroxysuccinimide for amine coupling. The binding of the HBsAg to the immobilized antibody was measured by the mass increase detected by the change in the SPR signal. The binding characteristics between HBsAg and its antibody followed typical monolayer adsorption isotherm. When the entire immobilized antibody was interacted, there was no additional, non-specific binding observed, which suggested the biointeraction was very specific as expected and independent of the ligand density. No significant steric hindrance was observed at 17.6 nm/$mm^2$ immobilization density. The relationship between the HBsAg concentration in the sample solution and the antigen bound to the chip surface was linear up to ca. $40\mu\textrm{g}$/mL, which is much wider than that of the ELISA method. It appeared the antigen-antibody binding was increased as the immobilized ligand density increased, but verification is warranted. This study showed the potential of this biosensor-based method as a rapid, simple, multi-sample, on-line assay. Once properly validated, it can serve as a more powerful method for HBsAg quantification replacing the current ELISA method.

In this study, a new method is presented to produce stable hydrophobic metal alloy nanocluster in chloroform solution including surfactant NaAOT(sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)-sulfosuccinate) via the chemical reduction of metal salt $(HAuCl_4,\AgNO_3,\Cu(NO_3)_2)$ by sodium borohydride. For the alloy nanocluster, several samples were prepared by changing the molar ratio of Au/Cu, Au/Ag alloy nanocluster, 3:1, 1:1, 1:3. The alloy nanoclusters were characterized by UV-Visible spectrophotometer, TEM(Transmission Electron Microscope), and XPS(X-ray Photoelectron Spectrometer). With the change of the mole ratio of the alloy component, the wavelengths of the surface plasmon absorption shift linearly from 520 nm of the pure Au nanocluster to 570 nm of the pure Cu nanocluster for Au/Cu alloy nanoclusters and from 405 nm to 520 nm for Au/Ag alloy nanoclusters. The chemical shifts of the Au4f, Ag3d, Cu2p XPS peaks were observed with changing the molar ratio of the alloy element. The alloy nanoclusters in chloroform solution were made uniformly in size and colloidally stable for long periods of time. These results indicate that the method here is a very effective method for synthesizing hydrophobic alloy nanoclusters with uniform or nearly uniform particle size distribution.
Spent photovoltaic module is one of the important resource of silver, while related research concerning silver recovery remains limited. In our previous research, HNO3 was utilized to dissolve Ag(I) and Al(III) from the spent silicon solar cells. In order to recover Ag(I) from the leachate of a silicon solar cell, the present study made use of a nitrate solution containing Ag(I) and Al(III), which was subjected to a solvent extraction process with 5,8-diethyl-7-hydroxydodecan-6-oxime (LIX63). Ag(I) was selectively extracted with LIX63 over Al(III) from the nitrate leach solution. Subsequently, quantitative stripping of Ag(I) from the loaded LIX63 was performed by using 20% ammonia water. The McCabe-Thiele plots for the extraction and stripping isotherms of Ag(I) were also constructed. Extraction and stripping simulation tests confirmed an Ag(I) extraction and stripping efficiency of >99.99% and 98.9%, respectively with high purity Ag (99.998%) and Al (99.99%) solution. A process flow sheet for Ag(I) recovery from the nitrate leach solution was proposed.

We have examined the relaxational response to the water extract of Angelica gigas $N_{AKAI}$ (AG), Gingko biloba $L_{INNE}$ (GB), Acanthopanax senticosus $H_{ARMS}.$ (AP) and Augumented-Four-Substance Decoction (AG-FSD, GB-FSD, AP-FSD) in isolated thoracic aorta from sprague dawley(SD) rat. Rat thoracic aorta was investigated in vessel segments suspended for isometric tension recording by polygraph. Responses to AG, GB, AP and AG-FSD, GB-FSD, AP-FSD were investigated in vessels precontracted with 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT) were compared in vasodilation effect. We found that the thoracic aorta segments responded to AG, GB, AP and AG-FSD, GB-FSD, AP-FSD with a dose-dependent vasodilation. The 5-hydroxytryptamine induced contraction at $10^{-4}M$ were inhibited by 26.3%, 75.8%, 87.5% and 6.9%, 22.6%, 30.8% after addition of the 0.1 g/mL water extract of AG, GB, AP and AG-FSD, GB-FSD, AP-FSD. In conclusion, AG, GB, AP and AG-FSD, GB-FSD, AP-FSD induced relaxation in the isolated rat thoracic aorta were composed of dose-dependent relaxation. AP-FSD has very potent vasodilation.

Single crystal $AgGaSe_2$ layers were grown on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate at $420^{\circ}C$ with hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system by evaporating $AgGaSe_2$ source at $630^{\circ}C$. The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $AgGaSe_2$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_g$(T)=1.9501 eV - $(8.79{\times}10^{-4}\;eV/K)T^2$/(T+250 K). The crystal field and the spin-orbit splitting energies for the valence band of the $AgGaSe_2$ have been estimated to be 0.3132 eV and 0.3725 eV at 10 K, respectively, by means of the photocurrent spectra and the Hopfield quasicubic model. These results indicate that the splitting of the ${\Delta}so$ definitely exists in the ${\Gamma}_5$ states of the valence band of the $AgGaSe_2$. The three photocurrent peaks observed at 10 K are ascribed to the $A_{1^-},\;B_{1^-},\;and\;C_{1^-}$exciton peaks for n=1.
Nucleolus Organizer Regions (NORs) are the specific chromosome sites where ribosomal genes are located and highly expressed. We have applied the AgNOR staining to identify the distribution of NORs in the chromosomes of Korean Cattle. We have also studied the NORs pattern on the cells originated from different breeds, tissues and sex. Peripheral blood from forty-four Korean Cattle and Holstein was cultured for chromosme preparation. The fibroblast culture from biopsied ear skins was also conducted for chromosome analysis. The distribution of NORs was analyzed by sequential Ag staining and G-banding on metaphases of the cells. In Korean Cattle, the NORs are localized on the telomeres of the five chromosome pairs number 2, 3, 4, 11 and 28. The number of NORs per metaphase ranged from 2 to 10 giving a mean value of 5.6. The number of NORs per cell varied among individuals and cells within same individual. The size of NORs also differed in NO-chromosomes. The number of NORs was significantly different between Korean Cattle and Holstein, fibroblasts and lymphocytes, and male and female. However, the distribution and frequency of NORs were similar among the cells regardless of breeds, tissues, and sex.
As solder becomes small and fine, the reliability and solderability of solder joint are the critical issue in present electronic packaging industry. Besides the use of lead(Pb) containing solders for the interconnections of microelectronic subsystem assembly and packaging has enviromental problem. In this study, using Sn/Pb and Sn/Ag eutectic solder paste, in order to obtain decrease of solder joint strength with increasing aging time, initial solder joint strength and aging strength after 1000 hour aging at $100^{\circ}C$ were measured by peel test. And in order to obtain the growth of intermetallic compound(IMC) layer thickness, IMC layer thickness was measured by scanning electron microscope(SEM). As a result, solder joint strength was decreased with increasing aging time. The mean IMC layer thickness was increased linearly with the square root of aging time. The diffusion coefficient(D) of IMC layer was found to $1.29{\times}10^{-13}{\;}cm^2/s$ at using Sn/Pb solder paste, 7.56{\times}10^{-14}{\textrm}{cm}^2/s$ at using Sn/Ag solder paste.

Silver nano-particles (AgNPs) have attracted much attention for centuries due to their unique optical properties, electrical conductivities, oxidative catalysis, and antibacterial effect. In this study, AgNPs have been prepared by using aqueous $AgNO_3$ solution in the poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) hydrogels. PVA and PEG powders were dissolved in deionized water, and then irradiated by a gamma-ray with a radiation dose of 50 kGy to make hydrogels. PVA/PEG hydrogels were dipped into $1.0{\times}10^{-2}M$$AgNO_3$ solution for 1 hour. After that, the swollen hydrogels were irradiated by gamma-ray for the formation of AgNPs. FE-SEM is used to observe the formation of AgNPs as a function of the content of PEG and the irradiation dose. Also, AgNPs in the PVA/PEG hydrogels were monitored by UV-Vis. It is observed that the content of PEG and gamma-ray irradiation in the hydrogel is crucial to the formation of AgNPs. Finally, antibacterial tests indiacted that the hydrogel containing silver nanoparticle has antibacterial activity.
This thesis described the optical and electrical properties of the alternating current powder electroluminescent device based on Ag nanowire as a transparent electrode. The Ag nanowire electrode showed the morphology of 20 nm in diameter and 15 ㎛ in length. The transparent electroluminescent devices that were fabricated using the nanomilled ZnS : Cu, Mn phosphor by bar-coating process showed the transmittance of 67%. In order to improve the luminous efficiency, it is necessary to apply the transparent dielectric layer and increase the amount of the nanophosphor while maintaining the transmittance.
Normal zone propagation(NZP) characteristics were investigated on Ag sheathed multi filamentary Bi-2223 tape and cylindrical stacking conductor. The critical current($I_c$) of Ag sheathed Bi-2223 tape and cylindrical stacking conductor were 12 A, 63 A at 77 K, 0 T. Normal zone propagation(NZP) experiments with tape were conducted with refrigerator in temperature from 45 K to 77 K, 0 T. Cylindrical stacking conductor was molding with epoxy and experiments were conducted with adiabatic condition in $LN_2$. NZP velocities of tape with two condition of DC and AC were almost same at each temperature. Temperature ($T_1$) of tape with distance of 0.5 cm from heater was strongly climbed up to 95K and slowly decreased. NZP velocities of cylindrical stacking conductor were 1.9-2.4 cm/sec in $LN_2$.
