The modelling and simulation of the activation process for the heart system is meaningful to understand special excitatory and conductive system in the heart and to study cardiac functions because the heart activation conducts through this system. This thesis proposes two dimensional cellular automaton(CA) model for the activation process of the myocardium and conducted simulation by means of discrete time and discrete event algorithm. In the model, cells are classified into anatomically similar characteristic parts of the heart and each of cells has a set of cells with preassigned properties. Each cell in this model has state variables to represent the state of the cell and has some state transition rules to change values of state variables executed by state transition function. The state transition rule is simple as follows. First, the myocardium cell at rest stay in passive state. Second, if any one of neighborhood cell in the myocardium cell is active state then the state is change from passive to active state. Third, if cell's state is an active then automatically go to the refractory state after activation phase. Four, if cell's state is refractory then automatically go to the passive state after refractory phase. These state transition is processed repeatedly in all cells through the termination of simulation.

The focus of this study is to represent a methodology of analysis for integrated logistic system by means of the Evolution Strategies and Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA). The integrated logistic system is composed of AS/RS (Automated Storages and Retrieval System), AGVs(Automated Guided Vehicle System) and Conveyor System. We design the simulation alternatives with choosing the qualitative critical factors for the each subsystem. Evolution Strategies is used to optimize the quantitative critical factors and responses of each alternative. DEA is applied to measure the efficiency of the alternatives in order to select the optimal operation efficiency scheme. The method of analysis which combines Evolution Strategies with DEA can be used to analyze the qualitative and quantitative critical factors in the integrated logistic systems.

GDS (Grating automatic Drawing System), which is an automatic design system of a metal product called grating, is a system that produces various detailed drawings on the basis of information within a Plan Drawing that represents layout of the grating such as locations, shapes, directions, etc. However, automatically produced drawings by GDS do not fully satisfy the standard of the general dimension marking method used among the layout designers. The lack of this standard quality mainly results from the fact that overlapping among dimension markings appear frequently. To solve the overlapping problem we applied the rule-based expert system. The rules are designed based on the expertise of skilled layout designers within the grating production lines.

The distributed OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol), composed of multiple responders, is a model that enhances the utilization of each responder and reduces the response time. In a multi-user distributed environment, load balancing mechanism must be developed for the improvement of the performance of the whole system. Conservative load balancing algorithms often ignore the communication cost of gathering the information of responders. As the number of request is increased, however, fail to consider the communication cost may cause serious problems since the communication time is too large to disregard. We propose an adaptive load balancing algorithm and evaluate the effectiveness by performing modeling and simulation. The principal advantage of new algorithm is in their simplicity: there is no need to maintain and process system state information. We evaluated the quality of load balancing achieved by the new algorithm by comparing the queue size of responders and analyzing the utilization of these responders. The simulation results show how efficiently load balancing is done with the new algorithm.

In MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Network), unlike in wired networks, a path configuration should be in advance of data transmission along a routing path. Frequent movement of mobile nodes, however, makes it difficult to maintain the configured path and requires re-configuration of the path very often. It may also leads to serious problems such as deterioration of QoS in mobile ad-hoc networks. In this paper, we proposed a Reactive Routing Keyword (RRK) routing procedure to solve those problems. Firstly, we noticed it is possible in RRK routing to assign multiple routing paths to the destination node. We applied this feature into active networks and SNMP information based routing by storing unique keywords in cache of mobile nodes corresponding to present and candidate routings in a path configuration procedure. It was shown that the deterioration of QoS which may observed in Dynamic Source Routing(DSR) protocol was greatly mitigated by using the proposed routing technique.
