This study deals with the case of online-based project learning, which was designed for the purpose of university educational innovation and enhancing learners' competencies required by society, operated during the COVID-19 pandemic. The course was applied Python programming language, team-based project learning, and intensive course system, which is required by our society and companies in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. Also it was operated as a non-face-to-face online class, which would have been operated in an offline class if it had not been for Covid 19 pandemic, to explore the possibilities and educational effects of online learning. To do this, 32 university students participated in online-based project learning during 8 weeks, and then conducted a survey. The survey results were analyzed in terms of i) non-face-to-face online learning, ii) team-based project learning, and iii) application of the intensive course system. Results say that most of the learners were satisfied with the online learning, team-based project learning, and the intensive semester system applied in this course at a high level, and also they clearly presented the reasons. Thereby, it has been confirmed that the learners were already well aware of the pros and cons of each learning method. Based on these results, the implications were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to develop an indicator of core competency of freshmen of an Institute of Science & Technology (IST). Through the document analysis and the expert survey, core competency indicators that include 5 core competencies and 15 sub-competencies (a total of 48 items) were developed. Then content validity was examined by experts in measurement and statistics and secondary education. Also, by using students' responses, reliability was tested with Cronbach's alpha and construct validity were tested through confirmatory factor analysis. Results suggest that the core competency indicator is reliable and valid in measuring core competencies of freshmen students in an Institute of Science & Technology. Discussions were provided in terms of improving student admission processes.

The purpose of this study was to develop and apply of career education program in science and engineering fields for science gifted high school students. To do this, the career education program was developed and applied to science gifted high school students 129 in H-science gifted high school with K-institute. The results are followings. First, after participating in the career education program, the career decision making self-efficacy of students were increased significantly. Second, it has been increased that external factor of career outcome expectation and continuation effort of grit. In this study, it has showed educational effects of the career education programs that related to career recognition in science and engineering fields for science gifted high school students by developing and applying of program. Based on these results, it is necessary to recognize the importance of customized career education programs for science gifted high school students.

The CanSat was designed as an educational satellite simulation program that implements the overall system of the satellite such as the command processing unit, the communication unit, and the power unit in a structure of the size of a can. In particular, the training effect is very excellent because the trainee can learn a process similar to the actual satellite development process by designing, manufacturing, testing, and launching. Republic of Korea Air Force Academy has been using the CanSat production kit used by the domestic can satellite contest experience department for education, but since it was produced based on PCB, it was impossible to show creativity and operation was restricted even with small mistakes. In this paper, we analyze the existing CanSat kit and propose a new educational CanSat kit that can be used in creative engineering design and practice subjects that will be reorganized into a regular course from 2021, and a lesson plan. In conclusion, by using the proposed CanSat kit for lectures, it is possible to achieve educational purposes and effects, improve lecture satisfaction, and provide stable instruction.

This study introduces the development and application of instructional materials for a micro-UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) design and manufacturing program in university education for freshman/sophomore students. The ADDIE methodology was applied to the development of educational materials, which consist of 15 lessons including the aircraft design theory, 3D CAD modeling, 3D printing production, and UAV flight control. The validity of the program was evaluated with 8 expert panels. A total of 82 participants from engineering and social science grouped the 16 teams for the creative UAV wing design and cooperative interactions. The results of overall program satisfaction survey was measured highly as the average 4.54 (out of 5), so that the students were content with the professional engineering knowledge, 3D digital tools, and the opportunity to design and manufacture airplanes on their own. In conclusion, it can be confirmed that the developed program is effective for UAV education for junior level college student.

The purpose of this study is to provide implications for designing and implementing non-face-to-face online classes at the College of Engineering in the post-corona era by analyzing the instructors' evaluations and experiences of non-face-to-face online classes operated in the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the overall evaluation results of non-face-to-face online classes from instructors at the College of Engineering, 'instructional design' was the highest among the five areas including instructional design, learning management, learning support, learning evaluation, and instructional outcomes. In addition, the effectiveness of non-face-to-face online experimental or practical classes was found to be relatively low. The results of this study imply that the instructors need to consider several instructional strategies such as active interaction with learners, clear explanation, and the use of technology in non-face-to-face online engineering classes.
