Purpose : To evaluate the effects joint mobilization and McKenzie exercise on the cervical range of motion and tenderness through cervical range of motion(CROM), algometer. Methods : The subjects consisted of thirty five patients. Eighteen underwent McKenzie exercise, seventeen did Joint Mobilization. The joint mobilization group received joint mobilization exercise for about 15 minutes, and McKenzie exercise group received extension, side-flexion, flexion, elevation, exercise for 15 minutes respectively. The test period of each group took place three times a week during 6 weeks. All measurements for each the subject took the following treatment: pre-treatment, treatment in 2 weeks, treatment in 6 weeks, post-treatment in 2 weeks. Results : The flexion, extension and side-flexion CROM of both groups were statistically significant increase within treatment period(p<.05), and also a significant difference within pre-treatment and post-treatment in a 2 week period(p<.05), within treatment in 2 weeks and post-treatment in 2 weeks by checking the extent of effect in the treatment period(p<.05). The trapezius tenderness threshold of both groups were statistically significant increase within treatment period(p<.05), and also significant difference within pre-treatment and post-treatment, within treatment in 2 weeks and post-treatment by checking the extent of effect in the treatment period. Conclusion : Joint mobilization and Mckenzie exercise improved cervical range of motion and tenderness threshold.

Purpose : To evaluate the effects of elastic resistance exercise of lumbo-pelvic region and upper limbs muscle on equilibrium ability and shoulder pain of the elderly. Methods : The subject consisted of sixteen healthy elderly people(14 females. 2 males). They were from 61 to 83 years old and the mean age was 68.06. All subjects were assigned only the elastic resistance exercise group. The subject group received elastic resistance exercise for about 60 minutes per day, two times per weeks, during 8 weeks period. A Stop watch was used to measure static equilibrium ability and dynamic equilibrium ability and then pressure algometer was used to measure shoulder press pain threshold. All measurements of each subjects were measured at pre-experiment and post-experiment stage. SPSS 12.0 program was used to compile results. A Paired samples t-test was conducted to examine changes of static equilibrium, dynamic equilibrium and shoulder press pain threshold between pre-experiment and post-experiment. Results : The static equilibrium ability, dynamic equilibrium ability and shoulder press pain threshold were significantly differences between pre-experiment and post-experiment(p<.05). Conclusion : This data suggests that an eight week elastic resistance exercise improved static equilibrium ability and dynamic equilibrium ability and then reduced shoulder pain.

Purpose : The patients who have Supraspinatus tendinitis, Lateral epicondylitis, Achilles tendinitis are our targets, so we want to know their opinions in order to take Sono-graphic tests and to study utility value of Sono-graphic. Object and Methods : The case of 30 patients with Tendinitis results, we classified with three categories, Supraspinatus tendinitis, Lateral epicondylitis and Achilles tendinitis. Case by case, before medical treatment, we executed the inspections which are Sound side and Affected side. After 4 weeks of medical treatment, we executed the inspection which is Sono-graphic. Objectively comparing with Sono-graphic, we measured VAS(Visual Analog Scale) before and after physical therapy. Results : We could learn that VAS (Visual Analog Scale) and Sono-graphic wore decreased about changing the lesion area of each disease. For example, Supraspinatus tendinitis is from case 1 and case 2, Lateral epicondylitis is from case 8, case 9 and case 10, Achilles tendinitis is from case 16, case 17 and case 18. Conclusion : About organization of complicated anatomy, we could learn general ideas about Supraspinatus tendinitis, Lateral epicondylitis, Achilles tendinitis. And finally the results which appeared between the decrements of VAS and Sono-graphic are similar.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of both neuromuscular electrical stimulation(NMES) and isometrical exercise(IE) to strengthen the quadriceps femoris muscle. The relationships between the strength changes and the relative force and duration of training contractions were also studied. Methods : The subjects were divided into three group. The control group(n=6) received no exercise and/or stimulation. The isometric exercise (IE) group(n=6) performed maximum isometric contractions, and the neuromuscular electrical stimulation(NMES)(n=6) engaged electrically stimulated isometric contractions, three days a week for four weeks. Results : Results showed that both IE group and NMES group were found to have an increase in strength significantly greater(p<0.05) than the control group at 4 week. But between IE group and NMES group were not found to have an difference in strength significantly. Conclusion : The relative increase in isometric strength, using IE and NMES, may be determined by the ability of the subjects to tolerate longer and more forceful contractions. Suggestions for further research and implications for the clinical of IE and NMES for strength-training are discussed.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the change of the peak plantar pressure distribution under the foot areas and the range of motion (ROM) of ankle joint according to gradients in treadmill gait. Method : Thirty normal subjects (15 male and 15 female) walked on treadmill at three gradient conditions ($0^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, and $15^{\circ}$) in normal speed. The ankle ROM was measured using the CMS70P that is three dimensional analyzer for excursion of ankle ROM, plantar flexion, and dorsi flexion. The peak plantar pressure distribution under the hallux, 1st metatarsal head (MTH) and heel was measured using the F -Scan system with an in-shoe sensor. Data was collected from 9 steps of left sife foot in at each gradient condition while all subjects walked. Result : As the treadmill gradient increased, the excursion of ankle joint was significantly increased (p<.05). Also, plantar flexion and dorsi flexion was significantly increased according to treadmill gradients (p<.05). The peak plantar pressure under the 1st MTH was significantly increased (p<.05) and the peak plantar pressure under the heel was significantly decreased (p<.05) as the treadmill gradient increased. No significant different in the peak plantar pressure under the hallux was observed. Conclusion : This study suggests that physical therapy for patients who have limited ankle ROM should be considered sufficient range of motion for functional ambulation. And individuals that have painful forefoot syndromes, including metatarsalgia, hallux valgus, and plantar ulceration should be careful in walking to uphill, as there is high plantar pressure under the forefoot.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of Joing Mobilization and Group back Pain Exercise Program on the disability level and the pain of flexibility and the back muscle strength in the hearing impairment patients with Low back pain. Methods : The subjects of this study were 12 patients, 8 males and females. They visited clinic for physical treatment within 6 months after onset of low back pain. One group was applied with Joing Mobilization and other group was with Group back Pain Exercise Program. The patient were treated special program 3 times session weekly. And treatment 2 times session was 15min with physiotherapy weekly. The muscle strength was measured by Cybex 660, the level of disability by Oswestry low back pain disability scale, the intensity of pain by visual analogue scale (VAS). The data was analysed by paired T-test and independent T-test. Results : The results of this study were summarized as follow : 1. The Oswestry disability score of experimental and control group were significantly decreased and there was no difference in the Oswestry disability score change between joint mobilization group and back pain exercise group. 2. The pains in anterior, postrior, lift lateral and right lateral bending and in rotation of back pain exercise group were significantly increased compared with those of joint mobilization group. 3. The flexors and extensors peak torque of back pain exercise group were significantly increased at test velocities $30^{\circ}$/sec, $60^{\circ}$/sec compared with those of the joint mobilization group. There was no significant difference in extensors and flexors peak torque at $30^{\circ}$/sec, $60^{\circ}$/sec between two group. The results showed that the back pain exercise group were effective in decreasing disability score and pain of trunk activity, increasing trunk extension and flexion peak torque. Conclusion : It is suggested theat the back pain exercise program could be an essential factor for the effective intervension to the hearing impairment patients suffere from low back pain.

Purpose : The purpose of the study was to determine Effects of application on manual therapy of knee pain cause of Sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Methods : The patient with knee pain was 59years female. Muscle Energy Techniques, high-velocity, low-amplitude and modality(Hot pack, ultrasound, TENS) using during one month. Results : The patient has improve pain, muscle strength and function.

Purpose : The purpose of the study was to determine Effects of the ADL Group Study Program Training on Functional Independence and Quality of Life for the CNS Patients. Methods : Thirty patients with stroke were assigned to experimental and control group. During eight weeks, both group participated in the conventional physical therapy and only the experimental group added in the ADL Group Study program. Experimental group performed two a week for 8 weeks and both group were scored Mini-Mental State Examination-Korean version before the training. The data were analyzed with frequency, independent t-test, paired t-test using SPSS PC(ver.12.0). Results : The result of this study is as fallows : First, after eight weeks, the experimental group the significant improvement in Korean Activity Daily Living scale, washing(p<0.01), bathing, ambulation, toilet using(p<0.05) and decorating, the short distance transfer(p<0.05) in Korean Independent Daily Living scale, vitality(p<0.05) in Quality of Life score. Conclusion : These finding suggest that the ADL Group Study Program Training can be used to improve functional independent and quality of life for the CNS patients. Also, the result of this study can provide a reference for the successful therapeutic program in CNS patients.
