  • Due to the fast growing rate of the global container trade, every major port is under the pressure of meeting the projected capacity demand. As a result, alternative solutions have been sought for improving capacity and meeting the growing demand for container storage area and terminal capacity. Moreover, material handling process re-engineering is now a critical issue for logistics and supply chain managers of airline, shipping lines, terminal and warehousing enterprises around the world. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to develop the 3D simulator for executing performance valuation of port transportation systems. The developed 3D simulator system is to measure the effectiveness of the proposed total system and compare it with existing practices. The performance analysis variables are also defined for these comparisons

  • A new implementation method for MPDSAP(Maximally Polyphase Decomposed Subband Affine Projection) adaptive filter is proposed. The affine projection(AP) adaptive filter achieves fast convergence speed, however, its implementation is so expensive because of the matrix inversion for a weight-updating of adaptive filter. The maximally polyphase decomposed subband filtering allows the AP adaptive filter to avoid the matrix inversion, moreover, by using a pipelining technique, the simple subband structured AP is suitable for VLSI implementations concerning throughput, power dissipation and area. Computer simulations are presented to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • We attempted to fabricate polyurethane derivatives (PU-CN, PU-DCM) LB films by using LB method. Also, we investigated the monolayer behavior at the air-water interface by surface pressure-area ($\pi$-A) isotherms. And, the surface morphologies and the physicochemical properties of LB films were investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and UV-vis spectroscopy, respectively. Also, the electrical properties of polyurethane derivatives LB films were investigated by using the conductivity, the dielectric constant and activation energy. In the surface morphologies, physicochemical, electrical properties of polyurethane derivatives LB films, the properties is different as to the Polyurethane derivatives, it is considered that this phenomena could be described by the difference of lumophore pendant which was adhered at PU main chain.

  • In this study, topographic change analysis was performed on the Nak-dong River estuary area. The factors affecting the changes in the bathymetry of the Nak-dong River estuary were analyzed using data from the discharge, suspended sediments, and rainfall of the Nak-dong River barrier as analysis data. As a result, erosion and sedimentation are judged to appear repeatedly due to complex effects such as discharge of the estuary barrier of the Nak-dong River and invasion of the open sea waves, and it is judged that there is no one-sided tendency. However, as a result of checking the data in the second half of 2020, it was possible to confirm a large amount of erosion, which is different from the past data. It is clear that this is a result beyond the trend of erosion in the first half and sedimentation in the second half. In the summer of 2020, the rainy season lasted for more than a month and torrential rains occurred, which seems to be due to about three times higher rainfall than other periods, and erosion is believed to have occurred as the discharge increased rapidly compared to the time deposited by river water outflow. In addition, compared to other times, the influence of many typhoons in the summer of 2020 is believed to have affected the topographical change at the mouth of the Nak-dong River.

  • PURPOSE: This study examined the effects of handgrip exercise, which was started two weeks after surgery for shoulder rotator cuff repair, on the extent of muscle activation around the shoulder and the cross-sectional area of the supraspinatus muscle. METHODS: Among patients diagnosed with rotator cuff rupture by an orthopedic surgeon and rotator cuff repair was performed using an arthroscope, 28 were selected as subjects. These subjects were allocated randomly to the experimental group and control group with 14 subjects in each group. An electromyogram was measured as a measure of the extent of muscle activation around the shoulder for a total of six times (%RVC). The cross-sectional area of the supraspinatus muscle was measured before and after the rotator cuff repair by magnetic resonance imaging. RESULTS: The extent of muscle activation in accordance with time in both the experimental group and control group displayed significant differences in various muscles including the anterior deltoid, pectoralis major, upper trapezius and infraspinatus muscle(p<.05). A significant difference in the variation of the cross-sectional area of the supraspinatus muscle was observed between the experimental group and the control group(p<.05). CONCLUSION: Handgrip exercise helps rehabilitate the shoulder joint at the acute stage after rotator cuff repair when assertive exercise therapy cannot be applied.

  • Investigation of bedrock quality and the legal restriction for developing the aggregate resources were carried out with GIS in the Wondeung area Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do province. Firstly, we surveyed the exposed bedrocks in the field and examined in physical properties in the lab. Secondly we analyzed the legal restriction by using GIS based on bufferzone and viewshed analysis. At the results of this study, the area can be used totally as the crushed stones. However the suitability sites of crushed stone have various regulations. So the legal restriction is the principal standard to develop the crushed stone in the Wondeung area. Suitable site for crushed stones are about 30% in the Wondeung area.

  • Recently, reckless exploitation of land resources without much consideration for the environmental value of the land has been witnessed to accommodate the ever-increasing demands for regional development. Fragmentation due to land development is a major reason for the declining biodiversity in forest ecosystems. The purposes of this study were (1) to investigate the relationship between the factors of land development and forest fragmentation in 13 watersheds of a metropolitan area and (2) to suggest a forest management plan through the relationship. We carried out a factor analysis to determine explanatory axes of forest fragmentation, and then conducted a correlation analysis between the factor scores and the factor of land development, such as the rate of built-up areas, road density, number of built-up patches, and area of housing developments. The first explanatory axis represented stability of landscape highly related with the rate of the built-up area and road density. The second axis represented the level of fragment highly related with a number of built-up patches. Forest fragmentation patterns of the 13 watersheds were classified for the similarity in forest fragmentation. This study presents the forest management plans including distribution and level of land development and forest conservation.

  • The De-militarized Zone(DMZ) on the Korean Peninsula is ecologically conserved and naturally developed as access to the area has been controlled in the past five decades. As a result, biodiversity and wetlands are developed very well, but they have not been sufficiently surveyed due to land mines and security reasons. Focusing on the Kyongui Line area in Paju DMZ, this study aims at examining the status of forested wetlands in detail through an on-site survey and understanding the features of forested wetlands in DMZ. The forested wetlands of Paju Kyongui Line area are inhabited by naturally grown Salix koreensis Andress. and Acer ginnale Maxim. and affected by Sacheon Basin region extensively. As the topography of this region is created of inundated area and gentle ground, it is easily affected by hydrology and irrigation and has ideal conditions as forested wetlands. In addition, forest wetlands in this area were used as agricultural land in the past but now transformed into palustrine forested wetlands after being deserted for long time. However, as construction of roads and railways increasingly blocks water paths, the coverage of Robinia pseudoacacia L. and Amorpha fruticosa L. is on the rise, which indicates that forestedwetlands are gradually becoming inland over time.

  • The soil-transmitted helminthes, such as ascaris, whipworm, hookworm and trichostrongylus, have been considered as the most prevalent parasitic diseases in a matter of several decades ago in Korea. In facts, the attached eggs and/or larvae to the vegetables have been played a great role on the transmission to human because of raw eating the vegetables without the proper recipe. The aims of this study is to outline the attached helminthes egg in vegetables and to define whether the detection rates on them show a decreasing pattern or not in present. The subjected vegetables were collected from the three markets which are located at Goo-Pa Bal, Soo-Yoo Dong, Cheon-Ho Dong in suburban area, Seoul from April to May 1983. A total of 180 samples including such as 60 Korean cabbages, 60 young radishes and 60 Korean onions were examined. For the detection of helminthes eggs, the both methods of formalin-ether sedimentation and zinc-sulfate floatation were applied. The results were summarized as follows: 1) The detected eggs of ascaris, whipworm, hookworm, trichostrongylus and either filariform larvae or rhabditoidform larvae of hookworm, as well as unknown ones were found in vegetables subjected. 2) Out of 180 subjects, the overall detection rate showed 48 (26.7%). And in case of Korean onion, the rate revealed 22 heads (36.7%) among 60, 17 heads (28.3%) out of 60 Korean cabbages, 9 roots (15.0%) out of 60 young radishes respectively. 3) The ascaris eggs were detected 6 heads (10%) out of 60 Korean cabbages, while the filariform larvae of hookworm appeared in 7 heads (11.7%) among 60 Korean onions. 4) In the results of present study, the detection rates in vegetables were appeared to be the marked decreasing tendency as like 28.3%, 36.7%, 15% compared with 96%, 100%, 88% of previous investigators (Choi et al. 1967)each on Korean cabbage, Korean onion, young radish.
