This study was carried out to understand the general conditions about management of hypertension and the differences in opinions between the Eastern-Western Nursing Sciences. In this context, this study was aimed to find out a possible integration of the Eastern-Western Nursing Sciences for the management of hypertension and to suggest a distinct frame of Korean nursing intervention method which is unique for the hypertensive patients by combining two hypertensive management systems originated from the Western type, "mainly classified by stage", and the Eastern type, "typically classified by form" as they are identified in the literature. From the research literature including both domestic and foreign, this study identified that exuberance of Yang of the Liver form mainly appeared to the patient who is at a border hypertension or the first stage of hypertension, Deficiency of Yin of the Liver and Kidneys form mostly appeared to the first stage and the second stage of Hypertension and Deficiency of the both of Yin and Yang form appeared to the third stage of Hypertension. These unifications of the types of Hypertension classified by stages and forms suggest the possibility not only of integration of the Eastern-western Medicine but also of establishment for the intervention of specific nursing management which is the united Eastern-western Nursing Science for the Hypertension. Hence, the new frame for the nursing management of Hypertensive patient is suggested as follows : 1) In case of the exuberance of Yang of the Liver form, as classified by form which is categorized to the border Hypertension or the first stage of Hypertension, nursing intervention should include general therapy, cooking meal and neutral care to restrain the condition of the exuberance of Yang of the liver. 2) In case of the deficiency of Yin of the liver and the Kidneys form, as classified by form which is categorized to the second stage of Hypertension, nursing intervention should include both the general and drug therapy and their use in combination with cooking meal and neural care to restrain the condition of the deficiency of Yin of the Li ver and Kidneys. 3) In case of the deficiency of both of Yin and Yang form, as classified by form which is categorized to he third stage of Hypertension should include both the general therapy and drug therapy and their use in combination with cooking meal and neural care to restrain the condition of deficiency of the both of Yin and Yang. In addition, using this basic frame of Hypertensive management, a specific way of nursing intervention, which is suitable for exuberance of Yang of the Liver form, deficiency of Yin of the Liver and Kidneys form, and deficiency of both of the Yin and Yang form and classified by Korean herbal medicine related to hypertension, should be pursued continuously in the future.
One's constitution is formed congenitally and is also acquired, and is relatively stable in its individually manifested function, structure and temperament. It has characteristics of universality, complexity, generality and continuity. It is also manifested in physiological responses and expresses pathologic tendencies including susceptibility. Attempts at understanding constitution has had a long history throughout the world. In Oriental Medicine, the constitution had been acknowledged from the "Huangdi Neijing", which has been a bible in Oriental Medicine for about two thousand years. In many aspects, the "Huangdi Neijing" provides the basis for both basic and practical fields. In order to derive the ideal structure from the "Huangdi Neijing" to Lee Je-ma's(Lee Jayma's) Sasang Constitutional ideas, which can strengthen the understanding of ideal core of Oriental Medicine's constitutional characteristics, the author launched his analysis of the constitutional understandings in the "Huangdi Neijing" as a first step and came to the following: 1. The constitutional understanding in the "Huangdi Neijing" was done both via the physiological responses to heat, pain and acupuncture treatment and the pathologic tendencies via body structure, strength, body heat, courage and obesity. 2. It was recognized that the constitution was formed congenitally and also acquired factors like living conditions including food customs, residents and geographical conditions were explained in detailed. 3. The constitutional typology was suggested both by the general and systematic criterion according to the Yin-yang and the Five phase theories and by single criterion such as obesity, courage and the response to acupuncture treatment. 4. As diagnosis is related to the constitution, courage was adopted for the disease caused by emotions, obesity was for its manifestations of qi and blood, the quantities of qi-blood and Yin-yang in the typology by the Yin-yang and Five phase theories were suggested. 5. In the case of obesity, Yin-yang and Five phase theory, treatment according to the constitutional ideas was mentioned, and their goals were concluded as "being the balancing between Yin and Yang" which means the Yin-yang theory is more practical than the Five phase theory in Oriental Constitutional Medical field. According to the above understandings, the author would like to suggest that the constitutional ideas in the "Huangdi Neijing" based on the Yin-yang theory blossomed via the practical spirit of Zhang Zhong-jing's "Shanghanlun" and at last from Lee Je-ma's(Lee Jayma's) Sasang Constitutional Medicine which realized "the balancing between Yin and yang" through the practical applications of herbal treatments.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical implication of Eight Principle Pattern Identification, EPPI in Sasang Typology. Although EPPI is considered as the most basic differential diagnosis in Oriental Medical Science, it has not been used actively enough in clinical practice owing to the presumption that EPPI is not sufficient for the analysis of complex clinical symptoms. In Zhang Jiebin's Jingyuequanshu, he separates Yin-Yang with Six-identification in EPPI when explaining them. This implies that it is difficult to talk about each of EPPI in same perspective. Thus, for the active clinical usage of EPPI it is necessary to study in hierarchical perspective. Lee Je-ma's Sasang typology could be a good example that uses the hierarchical perspective of EPPI. In the book Dongeuisoosebowon Lee Je-ma talks about differentiating Yin with Yang by constitution, Exterior with Interior and Cold with Heat accordingly, to apply in prescriptions. After differentiation, Yin and Yang are placed in higher level from the rest of EPPI, thus Yin and Yang can influence the rest of EPPI. This study showed the importance of EPPI in understanding the differential diagnosis system of Sasang typology in clinical perspectives.

Medical science is an area of study that focuses on maintaining health and treating disease. However, modern medicine focuses on treating disease and neglects methodology of maintaining health. Although the definition of heal this defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) and as the concept of harmonizing Yin and Yang in Korean medicine, there is no specific details regarding the definition. Thus, the following conclusion was obtained after the concept of health is viewed through Yin-Yang(陰陽), Vital Essence(精), Qi(氣), and Healthy Person(平人). Although Yin and Yang have opposite properties, they work very closely, maintaining the overall balance and harmony. Secondly, Vin and Yang would each function by the effects of one another, and the body could maintain normal physiological activities through this function. Thirdly, it maintains normal physiological state through the ascending Kidney-Water and descending Heart-Yang(水升火降). Fourthly, Vital Essence is divided into the congenital Essence(先天之精) and the acquired Essence(後天之精) in which the former is related with reproduction and the latter, nourishing. Fifthly, Qi is resistant to pathogens and related with the physique so that Qi and physique should be balanced. Sixthly, Healthy Person is the state where the exchange of Qi-Blood is active.
Objectives This research was carried out to establish the clinical practice guideline(CPG) for Yin-Deficit Diurnal-Heat (Eumheo-oyeol) symptomatology of Soyangin disease. Methods Dongeuisusebowon(sinchuk edition) and several kinds of literatures including journal articles concerning this symptomatology of Soyangin disease were collected and classified. Sasang constitutional specialists' conference was held to make an agreement on the conflicting issues as well. Consensus was drawn as a result of the conference. Results & Conclusions 3 papers were selected as an inclusion and exclusion criteria for the relevant articles to Yin-Deficit Diurnal-Heat (Eumheo-oyeol) symptomatology of Soyangin disease. Yin-Deficit Diurnal-Heat (Eumheo-oyeol) symptomatology consists of two aspects : Yin-Deficit Diurnal-Heat (Eumheo-oyeol) severe pattern and Yin-Deficit Diurnal-Heat (Eumheo-oyeol) critical pattern. In Yin-Deficit Diurnal-Heat (Eumheo-oyeol) severe pattern contains 1 disease, namely, Clear Yang Depletion of Large Intestine (Daejang-cheongyang Moson) pattern (Lower wasting-thirst (Haso) pattern). In Yin-Deficit Diurnal-Heat (Eumheo-oyeol) critical pattern contains 2 diseases, Yin-Deficit Diurnal-Heat (Eumheo-oyeol) pattern and Yin-Deficit Diurnal-Heat (Eumheo-oyeol) advanced pattern. Yin-Deficit Diurnal-Heat (Eumheo-oyeol) symptomatology has several kinds of symptoms like dry mouth, disliking to drink much water, diurnal body fever, coldness on the back and nausea as well as body fever, chest discomfort, constipation or dry stool as a common symptoms of Interior Heat disease. Clear Yang Depletion of Large Intestine (Daejang-cheongyang Moson) pattern (Lower wasting-thirst (Haso) pattern) has above mentioned symptoms and much urine/turbid urine, thin thigh and knee joints and twinge of joint pain over the body. Yin-Deficit Diurnal-Heat (Eumheo-oyeol) pattern has symptoms like indigestion and epigastric discomfort, abdominal pain and vomiting in addition. Yin-Deficit Diurnal-Heat (Eumheo-oyeol) advanced pattern has symptoms like hematemesis as well.
There is the commonness between I-Ching of Asian scriptures and Analytic Psychology of C. G. Jung as the conjunction of opposites of yin and yang. I-Ching has the base of the Great Absolute(太極) as yin and yang. Jung's psychology has the basic structure of opposite contents of psyche. The former wants to find the proper answer for the situation as fortune book, the latter realization of personal psyche. At this basis to approach I-Ching through the Analytic Psychology can be connected with the screening its inner system and structure in the frame of depth psychology. Basically I-Ching is the scripture about the good or ill luck, regret and stinginess. All of them are related with the psychology of human beings practically. I-Ching as the main scripture of Asia has the core theme concept of the mean (中). Previously mentioned the good or ill luck, regret and stinginess are included into this as the large view point. The best decision between the given situation and the fortune teller pursues the mean(中) path of both. Jung's psychology also attaches importance to the proper balance among personal conscious, unconscious and his surrounded situations. Goodness is relied on the mean, healthy psyche the harmony with the psychological and real situations of a person. But this balance and mean cannot be achieved without any reason but by the result of the conjunction of opposites. The opposites are the Ch'ien(乾, the Creative, Heaven) and K'un(坤, the Receptive, Earth) as yin and yang in I-Ching and the conscious and unconscious in Jung's psychology. These can be opened to masculine and feminine, psyche and matter, transcendent and existence and casuality and acausal synchronicity. Conjunction of these opposites can develope and create the new conscious and creative situation. Finally yin and yang from the Great Absolute and conscious and unconscious from Self become the opposites and go through necessary step of separation and sublimation for the creation of new level. In the Great Absolute there are yin and yang and yin the latter contains the cyclic process which can make the former renew. Conjunction of opposite in Jung's psychology also go through the similar process as the Great Absolute of yin and yang.

In order to research the pathological entity of Jueyin disease in ${\ll}Shanghanlun{\gg}$, some sharing concept of three-yin-three-yang used in ${\ll}Neijing{\gg}$ and ${\ll}Shanghanlun{\gg}$ were investigated first, and then the meaning of jueyin and jueyin disease were analyzed. In cold damage disease, time-space factor is important because the pathological change is rapid and the symptoms along path are similar, therefore three-yin-three-yang having complex meaning of time and space can be used as an appropriate pathological concept. So to speak, it is able to be interpreted as various modes like variations of yin-yang, qi-blood, change of pulse condition, theories of opening, closing, pivot or exuberance and debilitation of form and qi manifested in the six districts of the human body following disease process. Jueyin is between front taiyin and rear shaoyin, and it's attribution is inherent in qi stagnation and yin exuberance in relative to the location of flank and liver. Putting together above descriptions, pathological entity of jueyin disease is that the symptoms mingled with cold and stagnant heat competing each other when a subject having qi stagnation in flank with cold in extremities and lower abdomen in particular is seized with cold influenza.

We can understand "Shanghanlun(傷寒論)" and "Wenbingtiaobian(溫病條辨)" which are major books on externally contracted diseases well by making a comparative study of their similarities and differences. After studying etiological causes and characteristics of disease, disease pattern, syndrome differentiation, transmutation rules, following conclusions are derived. While cold is an etiological cause of Cold damage and harms Yang qi, heat is an etiological cause of Warm disease and harms Yin qi. Cold damage and Warm disease have something in common in the respect of damage to fluid and humor and Yang qi. Exuberant heat symptom of Yang brightness disease and lesser yin heat transformation pattern have similar damage to fluid and humor as Warm disease does. Warm disease can reach qi collapse syndrome through damage to Yang qi following fluid and humor damage. In the respect of water qi, as Cold damage makes water-dampness retain easily due to cold congealing, dampness-draining diuretic medicinal and warm yang medicinal are used together. As warm disease damages fluid and humor, yin-tonifying medicinal is used and dampness-draining diuretic medicinal can be used in the case of Warm disease with dampness. In the respect of disease pattern, cold syndromes arise mostly by Cold damage except heat syndrome of grater yang disease, chest bind syndrome, stuffiness syndrome, reverting yin disease and yang brightness disease. Warm disease is classified as pure heat syndrome and heat syndrome with bowel excess, damage to yin, qi collapse or damage to blood.
Applied Kinesiology (AK) is an evaluation system on the functional balance and integration of the body. Functional aspects of the triad of health are evaluated through muscle testing to see if the balance and integration is in an optimal status or is influenced by a given environmental stimulation. Triad of health refers to the structural, chemical, and psychological aspects of the body. Muscle testing in AK is a functional neurological assessment of muscular response to a given environmental stimulation in a given individual. Meridian system and stomatognathic system as in TMJ balancing medicine serve as one of the theoretical basis of AK. This article reviews core concepts of AK, discusses yin-yang balance medicine perspectives and clinical applications of it.
In this paper, a structural similarity between traditional oriental philosophy and systems thinking is discussed. The polarity of causal relationship and feedback loops can be interpreted in terms of yin and yang of oriental philosophy. A positive feedback loop which is linked to the yang is a force or mechanism that accelerates changes in systems. A negative feedback loop which is linked to the yin can be interpreted as a force oppressing any changes. In this sense, systems thinking can be related to the oriental philosophy. With this linking pin between them, systems thinking can be introduced and educated more friendly in oriental society. Furthermore, systems thinking can get a set of rich insights from the oriental philosophy. This paper suggests a linking leverage between systems thinking and oriental philosophy.
