This experiment was conducted to investigate the changes of harvest index and the relationship between harvest index and yield determination factors by different planting times in the determinate soybean cultivars, Shinpaldal and Danbaeg. Optimum planting were 23 May in 1995 and 1996. Late planting were 13 June in 1995 and 6 June in 1996. Growth period from planting to physiological maturity (R7) was shortened as planting time was delayed in two cultivars due to shortening of reproductive growth period in Shinpaldal, and of vegetative growth period in Danbaeg. Stem weight was distinctly decreased in late planting compared to optimum planting, but seed weight of both cultivars was not different between planting times. Also, seed number per pod and harvest index were significantly increased in late planting and the high correlation was found between two factors. It was suggested that increase of harvest index in late planting would be related with high assimilate use efficiency due to increase of sink capacity. The results of correlation and principal component analysis for yield determination factors showed that main factor on yield determination was pod number per plant at R5 stage associated with dry matter accumulation during early reproductive growth period, seed number per pod and harvest index were the second factor, and one hundred seed weight was the third factor. The result of this experiment indicated that yield determination in soy-bean was dependent mainly on pod number per plant related to dry matter accumulation by early reproductive growth period, and the increase of seed number per pod and harvest index could compensate for yield decrease by shortening of vegetative growth period in late planting. Such result suggests that optimum planting date can be delayed from mid May to early June in improved soybean cultivars in Korea.
This paper surveys research since the 1990s on the ability of the yield spread and its components (i.e., expectation spread and term premium components) for future economic activity, and also conducts an empirical analysis of their forecasting ability using the yield data of Korean government bonds. This paper's survey, particularly for the US, shows that the yield spread has significant predictive power for some macroeconomic variables, but since the mid-1980s, its predictive power seems to have declined, possibly due to stronger inflation targeting. Next, this paper's empirical analysis using Korean data indicates that the yield spread, and the term premium component in particular, has significant predictive power for industrial production (IP) growth, consumer price index growth, and the IP gap. An out-of-sample analysis shows that the prediction equations are unstable over time, and that in predicting IP growth, the yield spread decomposition makes a significant contribution to the prediction of IP growth.
This study was aimed to optimize the required condition for recovering the low soluble taste component obtained from sea tangle extract using ultrafiltration, and to investigate effects of membrane type, temperature, transmembrane pressure and flow rate respectively. We also compared relationship between the profile of permeate flux and the recovery yield of taste component under the selected optimal condition using ultrafiltration and diafiltration. Hydrophobic GR 51 PP membrane kept higher average permeate flux than hydrophilic FS membrane, and average permeate flux also had increasing tendency in relation to rising flow rate but it showed limit value of 3.7 l/min. Average permeate flux decreased as transmembrane pressure increased but it showed little change with rising temperature. Investigation upon average permeate flux, total dissolved solid and recovery yield of taste components using ultrafiltration and diafiltration resulted in relatively higher recovery yield in ultrafiltration. Compared ultrafiltration and diafiltration, average permeate flux was lower in ultrafiltration.
To obtain the basic information for commercial process and high quality production of Saururus chinensis, the yield and the contents of available component were determined at different compost application amounts and cultural methods. Fresh weight of aerial part was increased by increasing of the compost application amounts. The contents of quercetin, quercitrin and tannin were the highest in the compost 2,000kg/10a. Fresh weight of aerial part at different cutting times was no difference between one harvesting/year and two harvesting/year in S. chinensis. On occasion of two harvesting/year, the contents of component was more collected on July 16 than collected on October 16. Fresh weight of aerial part was less in the field than in the greenhouse culture method, but the contents of quercetin, quercitrin and tannin were more in the field than in the greenhouse culture method.
The chemical characteristics, enzymatic saccharification, and ethanol fermentation of autohydrolyzed lignocellulosic material that was exposed to steam explosion were investigated using bagasse as the sample. The effects of the steam explosion on the change in pH, organic acids production, degrees of polymerization and crystallinity of the cellulose component, and the amount of extractive components in the autohydrolyzated bagasse were examined. The steam explosion decreased the degree of polymerzation up to about 700 but increased the degree of crystallinity and the micelle width of the cellulose component in the bagasse. The steam explosion, at a pressure of 2.55 MPa for 3 mins, was the most effective for the delignification of bagasse. 40 g/L of glucose and 20 g/L of xylose were produced from 100 g/L of the autohydrolyzed bagasse by the enzymatic saccharification using mixed cellulases, acucelase and meicelase. The maximum ethanol concentration, 20 g/L, was obtained from the enzymatic hydrolyzate of 100 g/L of the autohydrolyzed bagasse by the ethanol fermentation using Pichia stipitis CBS 5773; the ethanol yield from sugars was 0.33 g/g sugars.

In the experimental study, wire EDM was conducted for cold die steel by changing the Wire electrode, peak discharge current and number of finish cut. From the micro structure analysis of SEM photographs, the size of irregular welded and added component on the EDMed surface is decreasing and size of EDMed plane surface is increasing as the decreasing peak current and increasing number of finish cut. From the analysis of coating effect, Zn component is highly contained in Br and Zn Wire EDMed surface and copper component is highly contained in Br and Al wire EDMed surface. Hardness values are Increasing as the increasing peak current and decreasing the number of finish cut The value of hardness is decreasing as Cu, Al, Zn and Br wire electrode because of the residual austenite effect of solid solution copper on solidification, and finally EDMed surface has the highest hardness values for every wire electrode. Yield strength values becomes larger and bending strength values become smaller due to the increasing the hardness. These results are increased as increasing brittleness with hardness.
Common factor analysis and principal component analysis represent two technically distinctive approaches to exploratory factor analysis. Much of the psychometric literature recommends the use of common factor analysis instead of principal component analysis. Nonetheless, factor analysts use principal component analysis more frequently because they believe that principal component analysis could yield (relatively) less accurate estimates of factor loadings compared to common factor analysis but most often produce similar pattern of factor loadings, leading to essentially the same factor interpretations. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the relative performance of these two approaches in terms of factor pattern recovery under different experimental conditions of sample size, overdetermination, and communality. The results show that principal component analysis performs better in factor recovery with small sample sizes (below 200). It was further shown that this tendency is more prominent when there are a small number of variables per factor. The present results are of practical use for factor analysts in the field of marketing and the social sciences.
The combustion properties required for fire simulations of multi-layer, multi-component flame retardant cables were measured using a cone calorimeter. The CO and soot yields combustion efficiencies of the flame retardant cables were investigated. TFR-8 (flame retardant PCV and XLPE added), TFR-CVV-SB (flame retardant PCV and general PVC), and VCTF, which are excellent in the flame retardancy of cables, were considered. As the main result, the CO yield (yCO) of the TFR-8 and TFR-CVV-SB flame retardant cables increased by 23% and 16%, respectively, with increasing incident radiation heat flux from 25 kW/㎡ to 50 kW/㎡. On the other hand, the CO yield of VCTF was not influenced significantly by the changes in radiant heat flux. Finally, the soot yield and combustion efficiency increased as the sheath material (flame retardant performance) was strengthened. Therefore, in a fire environment where various heat fluxes coexist, attention should be paid to the top of the application of the combustion property of the flame retardant cable.
A 6${\times}$4 top-cross set was made from the ten silkworm parental lines selected by the first principal component scores. They were also analysed for the relationship between the combining ability and the first principal component score. The highest general combining ability effects were detected in the parental lines of Japanese, N39 and chinese, C46, for the most quantitative characters in the study. The first principal component score of factors related to silk productivity in the parents was significantly and positively correlated to the general combining ability of the twelve characters such as cocoon yield, cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, cocoon shell percentage, duration of the 5th instar larvae, total larval period, length of a bave, weight of a have, non-breaking length of a bave, non-breaking weight of a have, raw silk percentage, and neatness. Similarity distance (D$^2$) was related to the specific combining ability of the characters such as cocoon yield, non-breaking length of a bave, non-breaking weight of a have, non-breaking ratio of a bave, raw silk percentage, neatness. From the results, it is possible to predict the general combining ability effects by the principal component scores for the 12 characters of the parents related to silk productivity.
Leucaena leucocephala (lam. de Wit) is a multipurpose leguminous tree/shrub, promoted extensively for reforestation and rural development programmes, as well as in ruminant production. After a year of establishment in the plots, the overall leaves and twigs yield was on average 0.92 kg/plant, containing an average 23.34, 10.61, 5.32 and 10.13 percent CP, CF, and ash, respectively. The proximate and mineral compositions are affected by factors such as stage of maturity, type of cultivar, seasons, cutting intervals, different plant parts. Though leucaena contains toxic mimosine and tannins, these are not always deleterious for ruminants and rumen microbes can often degrade toxic factors into a nontoxic utilizable product Mimosine content is generally higher in the seed than other plant parts. Leucaena supplementation in ruminant ration showed higher digestibility co-efficient of proximate component, which may results in higher productivity. Considering its productivity, composition and nutritive value. L. Leucocephala could be more widely used as a protein source for ruminants in tropical and sub-tropical countries.
