근로여성의 법적보호와 복지시설에 대하여 (A Study on Legal Protection and Welfare Facilities of Women Worker)

  • It is a general trend in the world that female workers are drastically increasing due to the facts that highly developed capitalism requires women's job, women are inspired to work, housewives can shorten their working hours for house-keeping and save their energy from their routine works, educational expenses of their children become larger, large among of modities has stimulated purchasing desire. Since the International Treaty on Prohibition of Female's Night Labor was agreed at the Bern's Conference in 1906, the International Labor Organization (I.L.O.) established after the World War II, has adopted innumerable international labor treaties. According to the laws of the advanced countries, the first priority of their protection has been placed on juvenile and female workers. The legal protection of female workers and equal treatments such as wage and promotion between men and women have become important world problems. In this thesis, the great principle of the Labor Standard Law, protection regarding working house, risk and harm in performance of jobs, protection of mother-workers, protection of women workers in advanced countries and the present status of welfare facilities for women workers in our country will be studied. The most important points this thesis has placed stress and appealed, are as follows : 1. The scope and variety of women workers' jobs should be broadened. 2. Opportunity for promotion should be guaranteed for women workers based upon the ability and capacity of individual woman worker. 3. Equal wage principle between men and women workers, should be established based upon the idea that men and women should be equal. 4. The age limit or marriage limit of employment applied only to female workers, should be abrogated. 5. The ability of middle and old aged women workers should be developed and utilized to the maximum extent. 6. Welfare facilities for women workers, should be urgently secured and guaranteed.

Do depression and its associated factors differ in women daytime and shift workers?: an analysis of the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2018

  • Purpose: This study examined health behaviors, use of health services, and depression among women who perform daytime and shift work in Korea, as well as factors related to depression. Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis using data from the 2018 data of the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Data on women, 1,493 regular daytime workers and 322 shift workers, were analyzed. Results: Women shift workers (χ2=43.97, p<.001), had a lower education level (χ2=45.56, p<.001), and lower personal income (χ2=16.85, p=.030) than their daytime counterparts. A higher proportion of shift workers were unmarried (χ2=37.47, p<.001) and they typically worked fewer than 40 hours per week (χ2=69.94, p<.001). The depression score of shift workers was higher than that of daytime workers (t=2.85, p=.005). A higher proportion of shift workers also drank alcohol (χ2=6.49, p=.032) and smoked (χ2=30.79, p<.001). Over 8% of shift workers typically slept fewer than 5 hours per night (χ2=14.17, p=.024). It was confirmed that depression in women shift workers was affected by age, personal income, marital status, health status, and smoking status, in addition to cancer screening participation, unmet medical care needs, and unmet dental care needs. Conclusion: More attention should be given to the health needs of women working shifts. Health promotion programs specific for women shift workers are needed to improve their physical and mental health, encourage use of medical care services, and improve public health policies and systems.

경인지역 여성근로자의 근골격계장애 자각증상 (Subjective Symptoms of Musculoskeletal Disorders in Women Workers)

  • Purpose: To investigate subjective symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders in women workers Method: From February to April, 2006, 292 women workers working in 16 companies were surveyed using KOSHA CODE (H-30-2003). Result: Of the workers, 84.0% had at least one musculoskeletal disorder. The mean score of the severity of musculoskeletal disorder symptoms was 7.41 out of 25. As for the prevalence rate by body part, shoulder was the most common and severe body part of musculoskeletal disorders, and significant differences were shown in neck, shoulder, and lower limb according to the type of working. The severity of married workers was significantly higher than that of unmarried ones. Significant difference was shown in the severity of disorders by the type of working and in body parts according to the type of working. Conclusion: The self-reported symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders were very frequent in women workers, but the severity of the symptoms was relatively low, suggesting the early symptoms of disorders. Specifically, given the highly frequent self-reported symptoms in the shoulder part found in married women workers, intensive prevention is recommended. Furthermore, an ergonomic aspect should be concerned to consider physical characteristics of women workers.

서비스업 종사 직장여성의 직무 스트레스와 우울이 자살생각에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Job Stress and Depression on Suicide Ideation of Women-workers in Service Industries)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship of job stress, depression and to identify factors influencing suicide ideation of women-workers. Methods: The research was a cross-sectional, descriptive study. Data collection was done using self-report questionnaires with 348 women-workers who agreed to participate in the study. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ${\chi}^2$-test, logistic regression analysis by using SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: The results showed, among the independent variables, drinking, job stress, depression are significant factors that influence women-workers' suicide ideation. Women-workers' depression is 3.05 times higher (p<.002), and job stress 1.03 times higher suicide ideation (p<.045), and drinking 2.15 times higher suicidal ideation (p<.006). Conclusion: The results indicate that suicide ideation is highly prevalent in women-workers, especially among people with depression and job stress. It is necessary to seek how to prevent and manage women-workers' suicide ideation considering features.

여성 근로자의 건강관련 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 요인 (Factors Influencing Health-related Quality of Life among Women Workers)

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine factors influencing health-related quality of life in women workers using the dataset of the Korean National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey(KNHANES 2th). There were 955 subjects. Methods: A multiple regression model was used to study the factors influencing health-related quality of life of women workers. Results: A positive relationship was found between education(b=0.014, p=0.029) and health-related quality of life in women workers and non-osteoarthritis(b=0.037, p<0.001) and health-related quality of life in women workers. Conclusions: The results of this study show the importance of improving the working environment and preventing osteoarthritis in non-regular employment.

한 대학병원에 근무하는 교대근무자와 일반근무자의 월경 양상에 관한 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Characteristics of Menstruation in the Shift workers and the Day Workers)

  • Purpose : To investigate and compare the characteristics of menstruation in the shift workers and the day workers, and present guidelines for health promotion of the shift-working women. Methods : Questionnaires including general health condition and QSCC II were distributed to shift-working women and day-working women in one university hospital in Gyeonggi-do and 36 questionnaires of shift-working women and 33 of day-working women were analyzed. Results : Day workers were about 5 years older than shift workers on average. There was more irregularity of menstrual cycle and period in day-working group but it is thought to incorrect because of the age problem. There were more women who have dysmenorrhea in day-working group, but the proportion of dysmenorrhea which continues more than 72 hours -which is very suggestive of secondary dysmenorrhea- was higher in shift-working group. Average VAS of dysmenorrhea was nearly the same in two groups. The life of shift-working group was lesser satisfactory than that of day-working group. There were more sleep disturbances in the shift-working group. Sasang constitution was analyzed in both group using QSCC II, and Taeumin were more in shift-working group. Conclusion : As the number of shift-working women increases, needs for oriental medical treatments would increase because it is more natural and lesser invasive managements which women are very interested in. So it is thought to be necessary to understand health problems of shift-working women, and prepare guidelines for managements and treatments to promote the health of shift-working women.

서비스업 여성 근로자의 근무조건에 따른 직무 스트레스 (Occupational Stress of Women Workers in Service Industries depending on Their Working Conditions)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to discover the influence of the working conditions on women workers' occupational stress. Methods: Descriptive method is used to identify women's stress depending on their general working features and conditions by conducting a survey of them in women-dominated service industries. SPSS 18.0 program is used for data analysis and descriptive statistics is presented with standard deviation, frequency and percentage. ${\chi}^2$-test is used as an analysis tool. To figure out factors that influence their stress, logistic regression analysis is used for general features and working conditions as independent variables, and occupational stress as a dependent variable. Results: As a result, among the independent variables, employment status, weekly working hours, career, shiftwork, and work-family-balance are meaningful factors that influence their stress. Temporary workers' stress is 3.65 times higher (p<.001), and workers working over 48 hours a week have 1.97 times higher stress (p<.003). Workers with over 5 years' career are under 1.73 times higher stress (p<.046) and shift workers are under 3.51 times higher stress (p<.001). Work family balance results in 1.93 times higher stress (p<.009). Conclusion: It is necessary to seek how to prevent and manage women workers' stress considering features.

여성근로자의 작업장 건강안전위험요인 및 관리방안 (Workplace Health and Safety Risk Factors and Management Plan for Female Workers)

  • Purpose: In Korea, the proportion of female workers among occupational injury is steadily increasing. The purpose of this study was to identify the workplace risk factors that threaten the safety and health of the female workers. Methods: Qualitative study was conducted, using focus group interview. Data were collected from five focus groups of eighteen female workers who were working in the manufacturing, health service, and educational service industries. Results: The seven themes of occupational safety and health risks of women workers are as follows: 1) Workplace with various risks; 2) Sliding, falling, burning, and cutting accidents; 3) Chronically lasting musculoskeletal symptoms; 4) Chemicals that may be harmful to workers; 5) Unprotected infectious disease; 6) Psychological safety accidents(Relationship conflict and emotional labor); 7) Loud, hot, stuffy, scary, and tired. Conclusion: The Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Act should be rearranged gender sensitively and women's participation in the OSH decision-making process should be guaranteed. OSH education should be properly implemented in the field, and support should be provided for women workers in small businesses. A supportive organizational culture for marriage, pregnancy and childbirth should be established, and the working environment should be provided safely, taking into account gender differences.

커피전문점 교대근로자의 건강관련요인과 영양상태 조사 - 서울지역 20대 미혼여성을 중심으로 - (Health-related Factors and Nutritional Status in Shift-workers at Coffee Shops - Focused on Single Women in Twenties in Seoul -)

  • This study examined the health-related factors and nutritional status of 89 single women workers in their 20's who work night and day shift at the take-out coffee shops and the 89 single women office workers. The results of the study are summarized as follows: The shift-workers showed lower rate of office tenure (p < 0.001), income (p < 0.001), job satisfaction (p < 0.05), weight (p < 0.05), and higher rate of weight change (p < 0.001) than the non shift-workers. The shift-workers showed lower rate of of exercise (p < 0.001), sleeping hours (p < 0.01), and good health condition (p < 0.01), and higher rates of smoking (p < 0.001), presence of disease (p < 0.001), gastric and intestinal illnesses (p < 0.001) than the non shift-workers. More than 88.8% of the shift workers answered that they ate alone (p < 0.001). The shift workers showed lower rate of regularity of meal (p < 0.001), balanced diet (p < 0.001), and mealtime (p < 0.001), and higher rate of skipping breakfast (p < 0.001), consumption of salty and spicy food (p < 0.001), and overeating (p < 0.01) than the non shift-workers. The shift workers consumed (p < 0.001) less frequently rice, soup and side dishes, and more frequently noodles and snack, bread than the non-shift-workers. The shift workers showed lower rate of consumption of beer (p < 0.01), and higher rate of consumption of coffee (p < 0.001), tea (p < 0.01) and soju (p < 0.001) in once a week or more intakes than the non-shift-workers. The shift workers showed higher rate of consumption of carbohydrates (p < 0.05), and calcium (p < 0.05) and lower rate of consumption of protein (p < 0.05), fiber (p < 0.05), vitamin C (p < 0.05), and folate (p < 0.05) intakes than the non-shift-workers.

제조업 여성 근로자의 요통 발생에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Affecting the Occurrence of Low Back Pain of Women Workers in the Manufacturing Industry)

  • For the purpose of grasping the actual condition of low back pain in women workers, 166 women in two neighboring factories were studied using questionnaire, 60% of the workers complained of low back pain. and 63% of them responded that their low back pain come from their job. About the severity, 77% marked the moderate, and 15% said absences owing to the pain. But 60% of them have not sought medical help. The low back pain occurred mainly in the workers of sitting posture and in the workers of treating heavy objects. And the workers who have worked over three years are dominant(44%) in the pain group. Comparing the pain group with the non-pain group, two variables - whether the worker treats heavy materials or not, and how heavy the materials are - showed statistically significant differences. So. there must be concern over the low back pain of women workers. In operation allocation. treating heavy objects and lifting up should be carefully considered. And for the prevention of low back pain. the workers need education and pain exercise.
