  • The purpose of this study was (1) to identify the experimental bias which could appear person perception as results of development methods (2) to find out the most desirable method in developments of stimulus. The research was a quasi experiment and the subjects were 358 male and female undergraduate students by convenient sampling. The experimental instruments consisted of a set of stimulus and semantic differential scales of 7-point bi-polar adjectives. The collected data were analyzed by Principle Component Analysis, ANOVA(analysis of variance), Scheffe's multiple range test. The independent variables were developing methods of stimulus(live person, photography of real person, 2 kinds of black and white line drawing, 2 kinds of color drawing). The results were as follows. First, five factors which were potency, sociality, appearance, evaluation, activity impressional dimensions emerged to account for the methods of development of stimulus. Second, the methods of development of stimulus had significant effects on potency, sociality, appearance, activity factors. In sociality factors, the impression of photographic stimulus was the closest to the live person's impression. However in the appearance and activity impressions, significant difference existed between live person and other developing stimulus. In the potency impression, black and white line-drawing gave the highest impressional bias. In the sociability and appearance impressions, color-drawing stimulus gave the highest impressional bias. Result: On conclusion the developments of stimulus can effect on stimulus person's impressions and these effects can produce experimental biases, the photographic stimulus gave the least impressional bias. The study shows that photography of real person will produce minimize measurement error.

  • Since the MB-OFDM(Multi-Band Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) is an ultra wideband communication system operated on ISM(Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band, DAA(Detect-And-Avoid) is required for co-existence with the other communication service. In this paper we propose the new detection algorithm based on decision-feedback, which shows faster convergence time and less complexity than previous works. The proposed algorithm detects interference above -20dB in AWGN(Additive White Gaussian Noise) and LOS(Line-Of-Sight) channel, and close to AWGN in non-LOS channel under appropriate channel clipping.

  • When a construction company builds a high structure. many piles should be driven into the ground by a hammer whose weight is 7,000 kg in order to make the ground under the structure safe and strong. So. it is essential to determine whether a pile is penetrated into the ground enough to support the weight of the structure since ground characteristics at different locations are different each other. This paper proposes a visual measurement system for pile rebound and penetration movement including vibration using a high-speed line-scan camera and a specially designed mark to recognize two-dimensional motion parameters of the mark using only a line-scan camera. A mark stacking white and black right-angled triangles is used for the measurement, and movement information for vertical distance, horizontal distance and rotational angle is determined simultaneously. Especially- by adopting a line-scan CCD camera whose line rate is 20 ㎑. the measurement performance of dynamic characteristics of the pile at impact instant is improved dramatically.

  • The main objective of the present study is to estimate the crossbreeding parameters in respect to serum lysozyme level in broilers. The experiment involved a complete $4{\times}4$ diallel design using four synthetic broiler lines namely Coloured Synthetic Male Line (CSML), White Synthetic Male Line (WSML), Coloured Synthetic Female Line (CSFL) and Naked Neck Line (NNL). The lyophilised Micrococcus lysodeikticus suspension was used to detect the lysozyme level in the serum of birds. The data were analysed by least-squares method to find the effects of genetic and non-genetic factors using appropriate model. The crossbreeding parameters for this trait were estimated by complete diallel model assuming the effect of each synthetic line as fixed. The results indicated that additive and non-additive genetic variation attributed to minor genes at many loci is important for the genetic control of serum lysozyme level in chickens. Total non-additive components of variance also showed significant amount of heterosis in crossbred progenies, and therefore exploitation of non-additive component of variance is possible for improvement in serum lysozyme level in broilers. The overall results suggested that for commercial broiler production system, the selection for specialised line on the basis of serum lysozyme level and subsequent crossing of parent lines could enhance the immunocompetence status in relation to serum lysozyme level in crossbred chickens.

  • We introduce the two-dimensional spectral observations of solar flares using the Solar Tower Tele-scope of Nanjing University, China. In particular, we introduce three typical events and the methods used to analyze the data. (1) The flare of November 11, 1998, which is a limb flare. We derive the temperature and density within the flaring loop using non-LTE calculations. The results show that the loop top may be hotter and denser than other parts of the loop, which may be a result of magnetic reconnect ion above the loop. (2) The flare of March 10, 2001, which is a white-light flare that shows an emission enhancement at the near infrared continuum. We propose a model of non-thermal electron beam heating plus backwarming to interpret the observations. (3) The flare of September 29, 2002, which shows unusual line asymmetries at one flare kernel. The line asymmetries are caused by an upward moving plasma that is accelerated and heated during the flare development.

  • Kim & Beuermann (1995, 1996)have developed a model for the propagation of X-rays from the accreting white dwarfthrough the infalling material and the re-emission of the energy deposited by photo-absorption in the optical (and UV) spectral range. By using this model, we calculate the profiles of the $H_{\gamma}$ emission-line spectrum of intermediate polars. Photoabsorption of X-ray by the infalling material is the dominant process in forming the observed energy-dependent rotational modulation of the X-ray flux. X-ray and optical modulations are sensitive to model parameters in different ways. In principle, these dependencies allow us to obtain improved insight into the accretion geometry of the intermediate polars. We present results of our calculations and compare them with the $H{\beta}$ line spectrum(Kim & Beuermann 1996).

  • The line code for ISDN subscriber loops is a critical choice in designing U-interface transceiver, since it affects system performance in a crucial way. This paper provides the performance analysis of U-interface transceiver systems employing four different line codes AMI, MMS43, VMDB5, and 2B1Q. The codes are compared using computer simulation studies, and three performance parameters of the four codes such as power spectrum, eye width, and error probability are used for the comparison. The simulation model consists of the encoder, transmit filter (root-raised cosine filter), channel, receive filter, zero-forcing equalizer, sampler, and decoder. The near-end crosstalk and addive white gaussian noise are considered as teh principal impediments.

  • A non-contact type measurement system is specially devised to measure the width of a piston ring groove in the grinding process. This system comprises a line camera with an imaging lens, collimated white light source, and a one axis translation stage. When the measurement system movesalong the diagonal direction of the cylinder, the line camera captures an image. By analyzing such images, the width of the piston ring groove can be determined. The experimental results prove that the proposed system is useful, especially as a monitoring system in grinding piston ring grooves on cylinders with accuracy of several micrometers in an area of dozens of millimeters.

  • An on-line algorithm that discriminates brown rice kernels on their echelon feeder using color image processing is presented for quality inspection. A rapid color image segmentation algorithm based on Bayesian clustering method was developed by means of the look-up table which was made from the significant clusters selected by experts. A robust estimation method was presented to improve the stability of color clusters. Discriminant analysis of color distributions was employed to distinguish nine types of brown rice kernels. Discrimination accuracies of the on-line discrimination algorithm were ranged from 72% to 85% for the sound, cracked, green-transparent and green-opaque, greater than 93% for colored, red, and unhulled, about 92% for white-opaque and 67% for chalky, respectively.

  • Edge includes variety of information about image's location and shape etc. So a lot of researches for detecting those edges have been continuing even now and at the early stage of the research, edge detection operators searched neighborhood pixels and used relation among pixels. However, these methods do not have excellent performance in the image which exists noise and can not detect edges selectively. For this reason, in this paper we detected image's line-edge element from degraded image by AWGN (additive white gaussian noise) with wavelet function which is independent of line's width.
