  • Over-weight vehicles give the structure of the road an impact overly and shorten the life of the pavements. But unfortuntely so far there has been no clear regulation to implement over weight vehicles. So I suggest that the fining should be evaluated differently according to the size of axle loads. In addition I adapt our study to Pusan city and propose an adequate regulation against over weigtht vehicles.

  • Although there have been plenty of dominance deviation analysis, few studies have dealt with multiple phenotypes. Because researchers focused on multiple phenotypes (final weight and backfat thickness) of Landrace pigs, the classification of the genes was possible. With genome-wide association studies (GWASs), we analyzed the additive and dominance effects of the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). The classification of the pig genes into four categories (overdominance in final weight, overdominance in backfat thickness and overdominance in final weight, underdominance in backfat thickness, etc.) can enable us not only to analyze each phenotype's dominant effects, but also to illustrate the gene ontology (GO) analysis with different aspects. We aimed to determine the additive and dominant effect in backfat thickness and final weight and performed GO analysis. Using additive model and dominance deviation analysis in GWASs, Landrace pigs' overdominant and underdominant SNP effects in final weight and backfat thickness were surveyed. Then through GO analysis, we investigated the genes that were classified in the GWASs. The major GO terms of the underdominant effects in final weight and overdominant effects in backfat thickness were ion transport with the SLC8A3, KCNJ16, P2RX7 and TRPC3 genes. Interestingly, the major GO terms in the underdominant effects in the final weight and the underdominant effects in the backfat thickness were the regulation of ion transport with the STAC, GCK, TRPC6, UBASH3B, CAMK2D, CACNG4 and SCN4B genes. These results demonstrate that ion transport and ion transport regulation genes have distinct dominant effects. Through GWASs using the mode of linear additive model and dominance deviation, overdominant effects and underdominant effects in backfat thickness was contrary to each other in GO terms (ion transport and ion transport regulation, respectively). Additionally, because ion transport and ion transport regulation genes are associative with adipose tissue accumulation, we could infer that these two groups of genes had to do with unique fat accumulation mechanisms in Landrace pigs.

  • This study initiates from the question of whether current advertising regulations are appropriate to be applied to the market. It confirms the relationship between misleading online advertisements of weight-loss food and consumer damages. This study argues that it is necessary to enforce monitoring and regulating (strengthening monitoring) for situations where misleading advertisements are exposed in the market with subsequent consumer damages. However, deregulation is needed for advertisements exposed in the name of misleading advertisements but with no consumer damages. In conclusion, the regulations of current weight loss foods are properly established $vis-{\grave{a}}-vis$ the market situation. However, misleading advertisements are prevalent for all regulated types: Type I (product quality and effect), Type II (endorsement and warranty), Type III (ways to use and safety), Type IV (comparison and superiority), and Type V (company information). Promotion targeting businesses, market monitoring and control are necessary to ensure that advertising regulations (which have existed only as an institution) can be appropriately applied. It is also confirmed that 'comparison advertising' (applicable to Type IV where consumer damages were not shown compared to other regulations) does not have an actual effect as a consumer protection regulation that should be considered in regulation revisions. Consumers also did not recognize Type III and V in the purchasing stage while consumer damages were demonstrated; consequently, this implies that consumers need to check and become attentive to these types.

  • Interest in the regulation of body weight and the pathological physiology of obesity has been rekindled by the cloning of the obese(ob) gene and identification of its product, leptin, in 1994. The first publication appeared in Nature and is a milestone of obesity research. The remarkable metabolic effects of leptin in rodents are: a) inhibition of food intake, b) stimulation of energy expenditure, and c) reversal of obesity. These effects, though mostly desirable, have not been fully demonstrated in humans. The central action of leptin in the regulation of body weight includes two pathways in rodents: a) When the body weight increasing, more leptin is secreted from adipose tissue, which acts on hypothalamus, probably through a POMC or MSH pathway via M4 receptor, initiates a series of response to obesity, i.e. sympathetic tone increased, energy expenditure enhanced and food intake reduced. b) When body weight reduced, leptin concentration decreased with the shrinkage of fat mass, which may also act on the hypothalamus, probably through a NPY-Y5 receptor pathway. Then a cascade of response to hungry was induced, i.e. increase of parasympathetic tone and food intake, decrease of energy expenditure and body temperature, as well as shut-down of the reproductive function.

  • It is reported that there is a limit in increasing heavy-weight impact noise isolation performance of the load bearing wall system apartments to meet the regulation of the Ministry of Construction and Transportation (MOCT). To increase the heavy-weight impact noise isolation performance, improvement in structural systems such as increasing concrete slab thickness and application of rahmen structure were proposed. In this study floor impact sound levels from toil apartments with two rahmen structure multi-story residential buildings were measured before the construction of the buildings finished. Measurements were made at living room and two bedrooms at each apartment when the finishing processes were finished. The average value of light-weight impact sound level from ten apartments was 56dB (L'$\sub$n,Aw/). The heavy-weight impact sound level was 44dB (L'$\sub$i.Fmax.Aw/) and the impact sound level of the impact ball was 41dB(L'$\sub$i.Fmax.Aw/), As a result floor impact noises at the rahmen structure system were lower than the regulation level.

  • Context : Oriental medicine deals with mind cardinally and effectiveness of CBT on weight control is well-known. but there is no well-structured psychotherapy for weight control like CBT in Oriental medicine so far. Therefore It is necessary to develop new cognitive program based on the theory of Oriental medical. Objective: This study examined whether Yangsung program based on new cognitive weight regulation model is effective on weight loss, self esteem and self control. Design and setting: 44 women were assigned randomly to 2 groups; experimental group(n=24) and control group(n=10). experimental group had 11 sessions consisted of cognitive therapy, meditation, general diet and exercise education. Control group had personal interview with general diet and exercise education and ear acupuncture once a week for two months. All subjects were weighed and evaluated with Rosenberg self esteem scale, and three factor eating questionnaires at the beginning of the program and at the end of the program. Result: Experimental group reported significant changes of weight, self esteem, restraint eating, disinhibition and hunger(p<0.01). Compared with control group, more significant(p<0.05) Weight reduction and self-esteem enhancement were reported in experimental group than control group. There is no significant difference between two groups in changes of restraint eating, disinhibition and hunger.

  • Obesity is a chronic disease that is increasing in prevalence and that poses a serious risk for the hypertension, osteoporosis, heart disease, diabetes mellitus and certains forms of cancer. This study was performed to develop of obesity animal model and to assess the pharmacological assay for the rats of 8 weeks or 4 days after ovariectomization treated with estradiol for 8 weeks on the body weight. fat weight and food intake. The body weight, fat weight and food intake increased in the ovriectomized rats. In the rat of 8 weeks after ovariectomization treated with estradiol (250 mg/100 g) 8 weeks, the body weight decreased significantly (p<0.05). In the rats of 4 days after ovariectomization treated with estradiol 8 weeks, the body weight decreased significantly (p<0.05). These results suggest that estrogen plays a role in regulation body weight response to food intake and fat weight.

  • The selection criteria of the Authorized Stockage List(ASL) in the Army is based on Army Regulation(AR)409, the selection method of ASL is not considered in cost, weight and volume of repair parts. This paper is focused on developing for a new selection model taking account of cost, weight and volume of repair parts. This model is applied to data of a division. The ASL selected in the model is more reduced in cost, weight and volume than that of the previous method.
