  • This paper is a review of the large-scale information retrieval system, CONDOR. This system was developed by the consortium that consists of Chonbuk National University, Searchline Co. and Carnegie Mellon University. This system is based on the probabilistic model of information retrieval systems. The multi-language query processing, online document summarization based on query and dynamic hierarchy clustering of this system make difference of other systems. We test this system with 30 million web documents successfully.

  • In this paper, we describe a generation mechanism of semantic-based queries for high accuracy information retrieval and question answering. It is difficult to offer the correct retrieval result because general information retrieval systems do not analyze the semantic of user's natural language question. We analyze user's question semantically and extract semantic features, and we .generate semantic-based queries using them. These queries are generated using the se-mantic-based question analysis grammar and the query generation rule. They are represented as semantic features and grammatical morphemes that consider semantic and syntactic structure of user's questions. We evaluated our mechanism using 100 questions whose answer type is a person in the TREC-9 corpus and Web. There was a 0.28 improvement in the precision at 10 documents when semantic-based queries were used for information retrieval.

  • Recently, it has been actively Semantic Web studies for 2-dimensional data of the spatial data. 2-dimensional Semantic Web, are fused existing Geospatial Web and the Semantic Web, and integrate with the efficient cooperation of the vast non-spatial information on a variety of geospatial information and general Web, it is possible to provide it is a Web services technology of intelligent geographic information. However, in the research for multi-dimensional data processing, and in those who are missing overall, relevant standards also not been enacted. Therefore, in this paper, by applying a variety of base of the theory and technology related to this to take place the Ontology processing technology, multi-dimensional data processing is possible ontology, question, and suggested the contents of the reasoning. Also, we tried to apply what you have proposed respectively to the multi-dimensional query virtual scenario necessary.

  • Now a days, to make good use of tags is a general tendency when users need to upload or search some multimedia data such as images and videos on the Web. In this paper, we introduce an approach to calculate semantic importance of tags and to make re-ranking with them on tagged Web image retrieval. Generally, most photo images stored on the Web have lots of tags added with user's subjective judgements not by the importance of them. So they become the cause of precision rate decrease with simple matching of tags to a given query. Therefore, if we can select semantically important tags and employ them on the image search, the retrieval result would be enhanced. In this paper, we propose a method to make image retrieval re-ranking with the key tags which share more semantic information with a query or other tags based on Wikipedia-based semantic relatedness. With the semantic relatedness calculated by using huge on-line encyclopedia, Wikipedia, we found the superiority of our method in precision and recall rate as experimental results.

  • In information retrieval, search engine provide the rank of web page and the summary of the web page information to user. Snippet is a summaries information of representing web pages. Visiting the web page by the user is affected by the snippet. User sometime visits the wrong page with respect to user intention when uses snippet. The snippet extraction method is difficult to accurate comprehending user intention. In order to solve above problem, this paper proposes a new snippet extraction method using fuzzy implication operator and relevance feedback. The proposed method uses relevance feedback to expand the use's query. The method uses the fuzzy implication operator between the expanded query and the web pages to extract snippet to be well reflected semantic user's intention. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve better snippet extraction performance than the other methods.

  • The conventional paper retrieval is the keyword-based search and as a huge amount of data be published, this search becomes more difficult in retrieving information that user want to find. In order to search for information to the user's intent, we need to introduce semantic Web that represents semantics of Web document resources on the Internet environment as ontology and enables the computer to understand this ontology. Therefore, we describe a paper retrieval system through OWL(Ontology Web Language) ontology-based reason in this paper. We build the paper ontology based on OWL which is new popular ontology language for semantic Web and represent the correlation among diverse paper properties as the DL(description logic) query, and then this system infers the correct results from the paper ontology by using the DL query and makes it possible to retrieve information intelligently. Finally, we compared our experimental result with the conventional retrieval.

  • XML can describe a wide range of data, from regular to irregular and from flat to deeply nested. Thus, XML is rapidly emerging as the do facto standard for the Web document format since XML supports an efficient data exchange and integration. Also, to retrieve the data represented by XML, several XML query languages are proposed. XML query languages such as XPath and XQuery use path expressions to traverse irregularly structured data which comprise B% elements. To evaluate path expressions, various path indexes are proposed. However, traditional path indexes are constructed by utilizing only the XML data structure. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an adaptive path index which utilizes the XML data structure as well as query workloads. To improve the query performance, the adaptive path index proposed by this paper manages the frequently used paths and the structural summary of the XML data using a hash tree and a graph structure. Experimental results show that the adaptive path index improves the query performance typically 2 to 69 times compared with the existing indexes.

  • Handling fuzzy query in voice search on smartphones is one of the most difficult problems. It is mainly derived from the complexity and the degree of freedom of natural language. To reduce the complexity and the degree of freedom of fuzzy query in voice search on smartphones, attribute-driven approach for fuzzy query is proposed. In addition, a new page ranking algorithm based on the values of attributes for handling fuzzy query is proposed. It provides a smartphone user with location-based personalized page ranking based on user's search intentions. It is a further step toward location-based personalized web search for smartphone users. In this paper, we design a prototype model for handling fuzzy query in voice search on smartphones and show the experimental results of the proposed approach compared to existing smartphones.

  • Because the current web search engine estimates the similarity of documents, using the frequency of words, many documents irrespective of the user query are provided. To solve these kinds of problems, the semantic web is appearing as a future web. It is possible to provide the service based on the semantic web through ontology which specifies the knowledge in a special domain and defines the concepts of knowledge and the relationships between concepts. In this paper to search the information of potential customers for home-delivery marketing, we model the specific domain for generating the ontology. And we research how to retrieve the information, using the ontology. Therefore, in this paper, we generate the ontology to define the domain about potential customers and develop the search robot which collects the information of customers.

  • This paper investigates protocol architecture for a web-sensor gateway interconnecting internet and wireless sensor network, in which Zigbee sensors are connected over the IEEE802.15.4 communication protocol standard. The web-sensor gateway is to deliver data between TCP/IP and Zigbee/IEEE802.15.4 protocols, transparently. Since the gateway provides a means to remotely control and aggregate sensor data over the internet, it needs to be designed in the view point of users and in their convenience. In accordance, the common gateway interface technology satisfying users on the web browser to efficiently manage and query the sensors in the wireless sensor networks, ubiquitously, is also introduced. Finally, a simulation prototype for the web-sensor gateway is proposed and verified using OPNET simulation tool.
