Development of real-time monitoring web BBS and the alerts service using mobile web (실시간 웹 게시판 모니터링 및 모바일웹을 이용한 알람 서비스 개발)

  • The BBS of Web Site is a space of informational communication to share information. At the moment, countless information is shared through various kinds of BBS. The shared information through the Web BBS can be gains to someone and losses to the other. Thus, for a long time, there have been many researches about technologies, which monitor information uploaded to Web BBS in real-time and inform the results to subjects. For BBS monitoring, existing methods have utilized direct approaches to DB or open API. Also, e-mail addresses have been utilized to inform results to subjects. However, there are two main problems for these methods. The one is a problem on closed BBS, which cannot be accessed, and the other is impossibility of supporting real-time alarm to e-mail. Especially, the real-time support for services, such as monitoring, is extremely important, since the main purpose of monitoring is based on the counter action for the result. The mobile Web has a merit to be accessed in anywhere, so that it is quite suitable for services requiring real-time support. However, the real-time support of mobile device has not been utilized enough, because each mobile phone has different standards of contents so that the contents should be pre-created. This paper suggests a technology that overcomes pitfalls of mobile Web while it is out of standard, and shows how the effect can be maximized through services such as monitoring, which requires the real-time support.

A Study on Mathematical Interaction and Problem Solving via Web-Based Discussion (웹을 활용한 온라인 토론과 수학적 상호작용 및 문제해결에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigated various effects of WBD(web-based discussion) on mathematical communication, interaction and problem solving in the classroom. We developed a web site including BBS and chat room in order to encourage students' mathematical curiosities and self-studies. The web site had been operated for 6 months. Five classes of 1st grade students were selected from an middle school in Daejon. Moreover, we analyzed several cases for interactional behavior and effect. WBD promote dialogue between a teacher and students. Analysis of feed-back from BBS revealed that student's negative attitudes could be changed to positive ones by step-by-step discussions. Moreover, collaborative learning is enhanced by on-line discussion. But the effects of WBD are affected by the character and ability of a student.

The Reliability of Balance, Gait, and Muscle Strength Test for the Elderly with Dementia: A Systematic Review

  • PURPOSE: To summarize the evaluation tools of balance [Berg Balance Scale (BBS), timed up and Go (TUG), forward reaching test (FRT)], gait [6 m walking Test (6MWT)], and strength [Chair Stand Test (CST)] for patients with dementia. METHODS: The following databases were searched: Pub MED, Cochrane, Sciences Direct, and Web of Sciences. The inclusion criteria were as follows: 1) repeated measurement design, 2) subjects with dementia, 3) use of testing tools such as the BBS, TUG, FRT, 6MWT, and CST, 4) report the reliability. One reviewer performed the quality assessment of diagnostic accuracy study and two evaluators performed data extraction independently. RESULTS: Six articles and one letter were included. The interrater reliability of 6MWT, TUG, and CST, were acceptable (ICC>.90). However, FRT had unacceptable reliability. In test-retest reliability, only BBS has acceptable reliability (ICC>.90). Others had various reliabilities. The risk of interrater reliability bias was low in all studies. However, the risk of bias of intrarater reliability was low in five studies and moderate in two studies. CONCLUSION: The interrater reliability of the 6MWT, TUG, and CST were acceptable. However, in test-retest reliability, only BBS has acceptable reliability. Therefore, we suggest the use of BBS to test the balance of dementia patients. In addition, the study of tool reliability according to the subtype of dementia is needed in the future.

  • Electronic BBS (bulletin board system) Ins been widely recognized as an appropriate medium for exchanging ideas and sharing information asynchronously. The communication ability if BBS is the main reason for utilizing it as a tool for collaborative learning. Researchers in the community reported a number if findings regarding the educational utilization if BBS recently. In this paper, we propose a qualitative method to measure communication activities using BBS so that the complex discussion behaviors of participants can be understood analytically. We propose characteristic vectors to describe discussion behaviors of groups and individuals, which can be conveniently used for characterizing and comparing discussion groups as well as individuals. The interactivity model representing interactive activities shows graphically the degree of inter activity if discussion groups as well as individuals. Also, time dependent measurements are investigated to analyze discussion activities with time. Experiments on the proposed measurements conducted on the Web-based discussion project using BBS demonstrate how measurements can be carried out, how characteristic vectors and inter activity model can be constructed and used.

  • In this paper, an intelligent notification system has been presented. The system operates on both wired and wireless internet. When a new message has been uploaded in a bulletin board systems(BBS) on HTTP web server, it sends the same message to their cellular phones of all members of a given group at the same time via SMS(Short Message Service). In addition, on reading SMS message, those who read them respond to a WAP server using pulling technique via wireless internet. Therefore, the HTTP server does know the members who did not read the message yet. Two different web servers, the HTTP server and the WAP server, running on a single system has been implemented. They share the single database which covers al1 related information about the BBS. The set of experiments shows that the notification system works well as we have expected Thus, we conclude that the proposed system that operates on both wired and wireless internet is the one of successful model for such environments.

  • In this paper, we propose a new type of client server environment to improve the architecture vulnerable to hacking in an existing client server environment. On the server side, move the existing Web server to the client side and This is a way for clients to communicate only the data they need and suggests a structure that completely blocks the web attack itself to the server. This can completely prevent a server from being hacked, spreading malicious code and hacking data on a server. It also presents a new paradigm that will not affect servers even if malware is infected with client PCs. This paper validates the proposed environment through BBS (Big Bad Stick) hardware in the form of USB on the client side. This study proof that secure services are provided through encryption communication with server-side security equipment, indicating that this study is a system with new security.

  • Life science is one of the most important fields which have direct influence on human life. Many domestic life scientists in the industries, educational organizations and research institutes have been producing important results in a variety of forms such as papers, research notes, presentation materials, books and teaching materials. Open Archiving Community has been constructed in order to share and exchange research information related to life science between researchers. The domestic life scientists can acquire valuable information through the community quickly and efficiently. In this study, the community system has been designed and implemented to provide free access to all data including metadata registry of the bibliographic information on life science and research results accumulated by researchers of their own accord. The community system also has been designed and implemented based on Web 2.0 and provides users with BBS by subjects.

  • 정보 검색에 주로 이용되던 웹이 편리함과 효용성이 알려지면서 전자메일, BBS, 전자상거래 등 광범위한 분야로 이용이 확대됨에 따라 보안성 문제가 제기되기 시작하였다. 본 고에서는 먼저 기존의 웹 보안 기법을 살펴보고 새롭게 요구되는 보안 서비스를 바탕으로 보안 요구사항을 도출한다. 또한 IETF(Internet Engineering Task Force) 보안그룹들, W3C(World Wide Web Consortium), 그리고 각 업체 등에서 연구되고 있는 주요 보안기법과 연구동향에 대해 기술한다.

  • In the knowledge society the main resource is knowledge, and the role of library to manage knowledge and information is very important. Therefore it is necessary to knowledge and information management that provides on demand service to user. The purpose of this research is to design model for web-based help-desk knowledge management system. This study used Qualitative methods as interviews and surveys through BBS and e-mail on information service in the university libraries. Here the investigated component factors are followings Q/A service user's education service to use the library, user's online reference service, e-mail service, FAQ service electronic service(BBS), lecture and research service for faculty, my library, SDI service, and open data service. This study was financially supported by Chonnam National University in the program, Post-Doc. 2002.
