Reactor Condition Monitoring via Wavelet Transform De-noising

  • Wavelets are localized in space and in frequency. This localization properties result from the multiresolution analysis of wavelets. The wavelet transform can be used to detect singularity of dynamic systems after the signal is de-noised. We applied the wavelet transform decomposition and do-noising procedures to the Hanaro dynamics consisting of 39 nonlinear differential equation plus Gaussian noise. The numerical tests demonstrate that the wavelet transform de-noising is effective for detection of the abrupt reactivity change and computationally efficient. Thus this wavelet theory could be profitably utilized in a real-time system for automatic event recognition (e.g., reactor condition monitoring).

다중 임계치 함수의 TI 웨이브렛 잡음제거 기법 (A Study on Translation-Invariant Wavelet De-Noising with Multi-Thresholding Function)

  • 수중 방사소음 측정시 낮은 신호대 잡음비를 가지는 신호에 대해 유용한 신호를 얻기 위해서는 잡음제거가 이루어져야 한다. 본 논문은 잡음제거를 수행하기 위하여 Donoho 등에 의해 제안된 Translation-Invariant (TI) 웨이브렛 기반으로 다중 임계치 함수를 적용한 잡음제거 기법을 제안한다. 기존의 웨이브렛 잡음제거 기법은 특이점 부근에서 Pseudo-Gibbs 현상이 발생하는 문제점이 있다 TI 웨이브렛은 신호의 특성 위치를 변화시켜 Pseudo-Gibbs 현상을 제거한다. 그리고 배경잡음 및 외부잡음을 제거하기 위해 각 노드별 변형된 소프트 임계치를 적용한 다중 임계치 함수를 제안한다. 제안 기법의 타당성을 검토하기 위해 모의 시뮬레이션과 해상실험을 수행한 결과 신호대 잡음비가 23dB 및 18dB 이상 개선됨을 확인하였다.

웨이블렛 필터뱅크를 이용한 동적 엔드밀 절삭력 필터링 (Dynamic Filtering of End-milling Force Using Wavelet Filter Bank)

  • The end-milling force behaviour is very complex and it is related to a de-noising phenomenon, so it is very difficult to detect and diagnose this static cutting force phenomenon. This paper presents a new method of filtering of end-milling force in end-milling operation using filter bank technique, based on the wavelet transform. In this paper by comparing the history of end-milling force using wavelet filtering the fundamental end-milling property of the wavelet transform is well reviewed and analyzed. This result of wavelet transform using filter bank shows the possible static prediction of end-milling force with severe dynamic properties such as chatter in end-milling operation.

  • 잠음감소에 있어서 웨이브렛 임계처리 알고리즘은 미니맥스 관점에서 거의 최적의 성능을 보이는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 웨이브렛 임계처리 알고리즘은 웨이브렛 함수의 복잡성으로 인해 FPGA와 같은 하드웨어 상에 구현이 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 이진트리 구조 필터뱅크에서 전체 신호전력에 대한 각 부밴드 신호 전력비에 기반한 새로운 잡음감소 기법을 제안한다. 그리고 이 기법을 FPGA 상에 구현한다. 간단한 구현을 위해 필터뱅크는 하다마드 변환 계수로 설계된다. 시뮬레이션과 하드웨어 실험결과 제안방법이 간단하지만 웨이브렛에 기반한 소프트 임계처리 잡음감소 알고리즘과 성능이 유사함을 보인다.

목재 섬유판의 음향방출 위치표정과 재료 특성 평가 (Acoustic Emission Source Location and Material Characterization Evaluation of Fiberboards)

  • Acoustic Emission(AE) technique has been applied to not only material characterization evaluation but also on-line monitoring of the structural integrity. The AE source location technique is very important to identify the source, such as crack, leak detection. Since the AE waveforms obtained from sensors are very difficult to distinguish the defect signals, therefore, it is necessary to consider the signal analysis of the transient wave-form. In this study, we have divided the region of interest into a set finite elements, and calculated the arrival time differences between sensors by using the velocities at every degree from 0 to 90. A new technique for the source location of acoustic emission in fiberboard plates has been studied by introducing Wavelet Transform(WT) do-noising technique. WT is a powerful tool for processing transient signals with temporally varying spectra. If the WT de-noising was employed, we could successfully filter out the errors of source location in fiberboard plates by arrival time difference method. The accuracy of source location appeared to be significantly improved.

  • Power quality has become concern both utilities and their customers with wide spread use of electronic and power electronic equipment. The poor quality of electric power causes malfunctions, instabilities and shorter lifetime of the load. In power system operation, power system disturbances such as faults, overvoltage, capacitor switching transients, harmonic distortion and impulses affects power quality. For diagnosing power quality problem, the causes of the disturbances should be understood before appropriate actions can be taken. In this paper we present a new approach to detect, localize, and investigate the feasibility of classifying various types of power quality disturbances. This paper deals with the use of a multi-resolution analysis by a discrete wavelet transform to detect power system disturbances such as interruption, sag, swell, transients, etc. We also proposed do-noising and threshold technique to detect power system disturbances in a noisy environment. To find the better mother wavelet for detecting disturbances, we compared the performance of the disturbance detection with the several mother wavelets such as Daubechies, Symlets, Coiflets and Biorthogonals wavelets. In our analysis, we adopt db4 wavelet as mother wavelet because it shows better results for detecting several disturbances than other mother wavelets. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, a various case studies are simulated for the example system which is constructed by using PSCAD/EMTDC. From the simulation results. proposed method detects time Points of the start and end time of the disturbances.

웨이블릿 변환을 이용한 계측 가속도 기록의 이중 적분법 (Double Integration of Measured Acceleration Record Using Wavelet Transform)

  • It is well known that double integration of measured acceleration records are very difficult, particularly in the case of measurements on civil engineering structures. The measured accelerations on civil structures usually contain non-gaussian and low-frequency noises as well as acceleration records are non-stationary. For this type of signals, wavelet transform can be useful because of its inherent processing abilities for non-stationary signals. In this paper, the do-noising algorithm using the wavelet transform are slightly extended to process non-gaussian and low frequency noises, using median filter concepts. The example studies show that the integration can be improved using proposed method.

리벳 구멍을 가진 알루미늄 박판구조의 피로손상 탐지를 위한 음향방출의 활용 (Detection of Fatigue Damage in Aluminum Thin Plates with Rivet Holes by Acoustic Emission)

  • 항공기 구조를 모사하여 일련의 리벳 구멍을 갖는 AA2024-T3 박판 구조를 대상으로 피로하중에 의한 단균열(short crack)의 발생시점과 성장거동을 음향방출(AE)을 위주로 한 측정으로 평가하였다. AE 위치표정에 의해 단균열의 좌표를 정확하게 결정하였으며, 이동식 현미경으로 균열의 크기를 측정하였다. 누적 AE 발생수 곡선은 단균열의 발생과 성장에 따라 일정한 간격을 두고 급격히 증가하는 양상을 보임으로써 여러 차례의 계단식 곡선을 형성하였다. AE 위치표정에서는 리벳 구멍을 중심으로 파괴역학에 근거한 관심영역(ROI)을 설정하였으며, 웨이블릿변환 잡음제거 방법을 사용하여 위치표정의 정확도를 향상할 수 있었다. 실제로 탐지된 신호의 대부분이 단 균열의 발생 및 성장과 관계없는 외부 잡음신호로 나타났으며, ROI 내에서 발생한 AE 발생원의 위치도 구조의 기하학적 특징이나 신호대잡음비의 영향에 의해 왜곡될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

웨이브릿 변환을 기반으로 한 심자도 신호의 국소 적응잡음제거 (Local Adaptive Noise Cancellation for MCG Signals Based on Wavelet Transform)

  • Magneto-cardiogram(MCG) signals may be highly distorted by the environmental noise, such as power-line interference, broadband white noise, surrounding magnetic noise, and baseline wondering. Several kinds of digital filters and noise cancellation methods have been designed and realized by many researchers, but these methods gave some problems that the original signal may be distorted by digital filter due to the wideband characteristics of background noise. To eliminate noise effectively without distortion of MCG signals, we performed multi-level frequency decomposition using wavelet packets and local adaptive noise cancellation in each local frequency range. In addition to the proposed wavelet filter to eliminate these various non-stationary noise elements, the local adaptive filter using the least mean square(LMS) algorithm and the soft threshold do-noising method are introduced in this paper. The signal to noise ratio(SNR) and the reconstruction square error(RSE) are calculated to evaluate the performance of the proposed method and compared with the results of the conventional wavelet filter and adaptive filter. The experimental results show that the proposed local adaptive filtering method is better than the conventional methods.
