단부 경계조건을 고려한 매설관의 동적응답 해석 (I) (Analysis of Seismic Response of the Buried Pipeline with Pipe End Conditions (I))

  • This work reports results of our study on the dynamic responses of the buried pipelines both along the axial and the transverse directions under various boundary end conditions. We have considered three cases, i.e., the free ends, the fixed ends, and the fixed-free ends. We have studied the seismic responses of the buried pipelines with the various boundary end conditions both along the axial and the transverse direction. We have considered three cases, i.e., the free ends, the fixed ends, and the fixed-free ends for the axial direction, and three more cases including the guided ends, the simply supported ends, and the supported-guided ends for the transverse direction. The buried pipelines are modeled as beams on elastic foundation while the seismic waves as a ground displacement in the form of a sinusoidal wave. The natural frequency and its mode, and the effect of parameters have been interpreted in terms of free vibration. The natural frequency varies most significantly by the soil stiffness and the length of the buried pipelines in the case of free vibration, which increases with increasing soil stiffness and decreases with increasing length of the buried pipeline. Such a behavior appears most prominently along the axial rather than the transverse direction of the buried pipelines. The resulting frequencies and the mode shapes obtained from the free vibration for the various boundary end conditions of the pipelines have been utilized to derive the mathematical formulae for the displacements and the strains along the axial direction, and the displacements and the bending strains along the transverse direction in case of the forced vibration. The negligibly small difference of 6.2% between our result and that of Ogawa et. al. (2001) for the axial strain with a one second period confirms the accuracy of our approach in this study.

티타니움의 절삭성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Machinability of Titanium)

  • Recently, the researches on cutting the new material have been done for development of aerospace industrial engineering. Especially, titanium ally is well known as heat resisting, antiwear, anticorrosion and difficult-to-machine materials. Many studies on the analysis of shear angle have been done for improving productivity in cutting these materials. In case of titanium alloy, the saw-toothed type of chip which has wave surface of a triangular form, an eccentric from of a continuous type of chip that is produced in the cutting process, was checked. Nakayama supposed that a maximum shear strewss plane and the shear crack in the free surface made an angle of $45^{\circ}$ .deg. , but it's usually much larger than that. In this paper, the author analyzed the shear conditions of the cutting process in the quick-stopping device with the help SEM-photographs, and measured the hypotenuse angle directly in the photographs of the chips. In conclusion, the author tried to find the shear angle in the cutting process with the saw-toothed chip and compared it with the shear angles which can be calculated from the theories established by others. The results obtained are as follows. 1. In case of the saw-toothed chips, the equivalent cutting ratio can be calculated by using the chip thickness to two-thirds of ramp height. 2. The theory of Ernst-Merchant is not applicable to the titanium and its alloys which does not fractured in accordance with the theory of maximum shear stress. 3. When we cut the titanium alloys which produced the saw-toothed chips, the shear angle can be found with the theories of Rowe-Spick, P.K. Wright and the measurement of hypotenuse angle.

선수파 중 AFRAMAX급 유조선의 부가저항에 대한 실험과 수치계산 (Computational and Experimental Studies on Added Resistance of AFRAMAX-Class Tankers in Head Seas)

  • When a ship sails in a seaway, the resistance on a ship increases due to incident waves and winds. The magnitude of added resistance amounts to about 15–30% of a calm-water resistance. An accurate prediction of added resistance in waves, therefore, is essential to evaluate the performance of a ship in a real sea state and to design an optimum hull form from the viewpoint of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations such as Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and Energy Efficiency Operational Indicator (EEOI). The present study considers added resistance problem of AFRAMAX-class tankers with the conventional bow and Ax-bow shapes. Added resistance due to waves is successfully calculated using 1) a three-dimensional time-domain seakeeping computations based on a Rankine panel method (three-dimensional panel) and 2) a commercial CFD program (STAR-CCM+). In the hydrodynamic computations of a three-dimensional panel method, geometric nonlinearity is accounted for in Froude-Krylov and restoring forces using simple wave corrections over exact wet hull surface of the tankers. Furthermore, a CFD program is applied by performing fully nonlinear computation without using an analytical formula for added resistance or empirical values for the viscous effect. Numerical computations are validated through four degree-of-freedom model-scale seakeeping experiments in regular head waves at the deep towing tank of Hyundai Heavy Industries.

클라우드 서비스 중개를 위한 수리과학 모형연구 (A Mathematical Programming Approach for Cloud Service Brokerage)

  • 클라우드 컴퓨팅은 가정과 비즈니스 컴퓨팅에 있어 빠르게 확산되고 있다. 이러한 변화에 따라 수년 내에 다양한 클라우드 서비스를 제공하는 클라우드 서비스 공급자의 수가 폭발적으로 증가할 것으로 예측된다. 하지만 클라우드는 하나의 독립체가 아니고 서로 단절되어 있는 많은 응용 프로그램(SaaS)과 기반시설(IaaS), 상이한 플렛폼 서비스(PaaS)들의 집합으로 볼 수 있다. 클라우드 중개방법(brokering mechanism)은 산재되어 있는 서비스들의 집합을 통합하고 편리하게 유용한 서비스를 다양한 사용자에게 제공할 수 있게 하기 때문에 서로 상이한 클라우드 시장을 하나의 통상적 서비스로 변환시키는데 있어 필수적이다. 따라서 CSBs(클라우드 서비스 중개자들)는 사용자와 CSP(클라우드 서비스 제공자)사이의 거리를 최소화하고 예약과 on-demand 서비스의 비용을 최소화하는 운영전략을 찾을 필요가 있다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 클라우드 서비스의 비용과 품질을 최적화하기 위해 예약 접근법을 고려한 수리적 모형을 제안한다.

단층 파라미터에 따른 확률론적 지진해일 재해곡선의 민감도 분석 (Sensitivity Analysis According to Fault Parameters for Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard Curves)

  • 확률론적 지진해일 재해도 평가를 위한 로직트리는 지진발생 패턴의 다양성을 고려하기 위해 많은 변수를 고려하여 구성된다. 고려되는 변수가 많아질수록 재해도 평가 결과는 다양한 패턴으로 변화한다. 본 연구에서는 로직트리에 제시되어 있는 다양한 단층 파라미터 변수와 스케일링 규칙이 부산 근해에서의 지진해일 재해도에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 로직트리에 제시된 변수 중 주향각, 경사각 및 단층변위분포 변수의 값을 변화시켜가며 지진해일 전파모의를 수행하고, 그 결과를 이용하여 민감도 분석을 수행하였다. 그 결과 주향각 변수가 재해도 평가 결과에 미치는 영향은 예상보다 크지 않은 반면, 초기수면의 공간적 분포에 영향을 줄 수 있는 경사각과 단층변위분포의 영향이 크게 나타났다. 이는 주향각보다는 초기수면의 형상을 결정하는 경사각과 단층변위의 공간분포가 동해 지진해일의 재해도 평가에서 중요인자임을 보여준다.

Infrared 광학초자의 초정밀 가공 특성 (The Characteristics on Ultra Precision Machining for Infrared Optical Materials)

  • In nowadays, the infrared optics is frequently employed to various fields such as military, aerospace, industry and medical. To develop the infrared optics, special glasses which can transmit infrared wave are required. Ge(Germanium), Si(silicon), and fluoride glasses are typically used for material of the infrared optics. Compared with Ge and Si glasses, fluoride glasses have high transmittance in infrared wavelength range. Additionally, UV(ultraviolet) and visible light can be transmitted through fluoride glasses. There characteristics of fluoride glasses makes it possible to evaluate optical performance with generally used visible testing equipment. In this paper, we used design of experiment to find ultra precision machining characteristic of Ge and fluoride glasses and optimized machining process to obtain required form accuracy of PV(Peak to Valley) $0.2\;{\mu}m$.

비선형방정식을 이용한 이방성판의 음향방출 위치표정 (AE Source Location in Anisotropic Plates by Using Nonlinear Analysis)

  • 2차원 음향방출 위치표정에서 전통적인 방법으로 문턱 전압값을 설정하여 도달시간차를 측정함으로써 2개의 쌍곡선을 형성하는 데는 해당 구조물에서 직접 측정한 속도를 이용하게 된다. 복합재료 적층판과 같은 이방성 재료에서는 섬유의 배열방향에 따라 탄성계수가 변하므로 속도가 섬유의 방향성에 의존하게 된다. 따라서 임의의 위치에서 발생한 탄성파의 도달시간차 측정에 의한 위치표정의 오차가 커지며, 위치표정의 과정이 복잡해지는 것을 피할 수 없다. 본 연구에서는 전통적인 음향방출 위치표정에서 쌍곡선의 2중 교점의 오차를 정정하기 위해 사용되어야 하는 제 4의 센서를 사용하지만 속도변화에 기인하는 위치표정의 오차를 줄일 수 있는 방법으로 수치해석에 의해 비선형방정식을 풀어내는 위치표정 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 또한 제안된 방법이 전통적인 방법에 비해 이방성 판에서의 2차원 위치 표정을 보다 간단하게 수행하고, 정확도를 향상할 수 있는 방법임을 실험적으로 입증하였다.

실리카 도파로(Silica Waveguide) 제작을 위한 Inductively Coupled Plasma에 의한 산화막 식각특성 연구 (The study of oxide etching characteristics using inductively coupled plasma for silica waveguide fabircation)

  • 본 실험은 고밀도 플라즈마원인 inductively coupled plasma(ICP)를 이용하여 실리카 도파로의 코아를 형성하고자 하였다. $CF_4/CHF_3$유량비, bias power 및 source power 등의 변화에 따른 산화막의 식각 특성 즉 식각 속도, 식각 단면 및 식각된 표면의 거칠기 등의 변화를 검토하였다. 또한 single Langmuir probe 및 optical emission spectroscopy(OES)를 이용하여, 식각 변수에 따른 ICP의 플라즈마 특성을 관찰하였다. 이상의 결과를 토대로, $SiO_2-P_2O_5$로 구성된 실리카 도파로의 코아(core)층을 형성하였고, 이때 최적화된 식각 조건 에서 식각 속도는 380nm/min이고, 마스크 층으로 사용된 Al(Si 1%)와 산화막과의 식각 선 택비는 30:1이상이였다. 형성된 실리카 도파로를 scanning electron microscopy(SEM)으로 관찰한 결과, 코아층의 식각 단면이 수직하고 패턴 선폭의 손실이 거의 없음을 확인하였다.

Paramagnetic Zn(1-x)MnxO (0.00≤x≤0.06) Nanoparticles Prepared by The Coprecipitation Method

  • The Zn1-xMnxO ($0.00{\leq}x{\leq}0.06$) samples have been synthesized in the form of powder by the coprecipitation method at low temperature using $Zn(CH_3COO)_2$. $2H_2O$ and $Mn(CH_3COO)_2$. $4H_2O$ powders, as well as HCl and $NH_4OH$ solutions as starting materials. Characterization was conducted using XRD, TEM, XRF, FTIR and VSM. The result shows that the $Zn_{(1-x)}Mn_xO$ ($0.00{\leq}x{\leq}0.06$) nanoparticles have the wurtzite phase with a hexagonal structure and particle sizes ranging from 17.48 to 118.83 nm. In a qualitative analysis of XRF, the peaks that confirm the existence of the manganese element in Mn-doped ZnO samples were observed. Meanwhile, FTIR test result shows that there are peaks at around $500cm^{-1}$ and $400cm^{-1}$ in the FTIR spectra for Mn doped ZnO samples which clearly reveal the existence of the (Zn, Mn)-O strain mode. The (Zn, Mn)-O absorption peak positions have shifted to a lower wave number with increasing Mn doping content. The peak intensity is also lower if compared to that of the ZnO sample without doping. From the VSM test, it is shown that $Zn_{(1-x)}Mn_xO$ ($0.00{\leq}x{\leq}0.06$) nanoparticles are all paramagnetic having monotonically increased susceptibility as increasing Mn content.

Analytical and higher order finite element hybrid approach for an efficient simulation of ultrasonic guided waves I: 2D-analysis

  • In recent years the interest in online monitoring of lightweight structures with ultrasonic guided waves is steadily growing. Especially the aircraft industry is a driving force in the development of structural health monitoring (SHM) systems. In order to optimally design SHM systems powerful and efficient numerical simulation tools to predict the behaviour of ultrasonic elastic waves in thin-walled structures are required. It has been shown that in real industrial applications, such as airplane wings or fuselages, conventional linear and quadratic pure displacement finite elements commonly used to model ultrasonic elastic waves quickly reach their limits. The required mesh density, to obtain good quality solutions, results in enormous computational costs when solving the wave propagation problem in the time domain. To resolve this problem different possibilities are available. Analytical methods and higher order finite element method approaches (HO-FEM), like p-FEM, spectral elements, spectral analysis and isogeometric analysis, are among them. Although analytical approaches offer fast and accurate results, they are limited to rather simple geometries. On the other hand, the application of higher order finite element schemes is a computationally demanding task. The drawbacks of both methods can be circumvented if regions of complex geometry are modelled using a HO-FEM approach while the response of the remaining structure is computed utilizing an analytical approach. The objective of the paper is to present an efficient method to couple different HO-FEM schemes with an analytical description of an undisturbed region. Using this hybrid formulation the numerical effort can be drastically reduced. The functionality of the proposed scheme is demonstrated by studying the propagation of ultrasonic guided waves in plates, excited by a piezoelectric patch actuator. The actuator is modelled utilizing higher order coupled field finite elements, whereas the homogenous, isotropic plate is described analytically. The results of this "semi-analytical" approach highlight the opportunities to reduce the numerical effort if closed-form solutions are partially available.
