Background Topical anesthetics, such as eutectic mixture of local anesthetics (EMLA) cream, can be applied to reduce pain before minor procedure. This trial evaluated EMLA as pretreatment for facial lacerations and compared pain, discomfort and overall satisfaction. Methods This trial included consecutive emergency department patients ${\geq}16years$ of age who presented with simple facial lacerations. At triage, lacerations were allotted to either the routine processing group or EMLA pretreatment group according to date of admission. Initially, the emergency department doctors inspected each laceration, which were dressed with saline-soaked gauze. In the pretreatment group, EMLA cream was applied during wound inspection. The plastic surgeon then completed primary closure following the local injection of an anesthetic. After the procedure, all patients were given a questionnaire assessing pain using the 10-point visual analog scale (VAS) ("no pain" to "worst pain"). All questionnaires were collected by the emergency department nurse before discharge. Results Fifty patients were included in the routine processing group, and fifty patients were included in the EMLA pretreatment group. Median age was 39.9 years, 66% were male, and the average laceration was 2.67 cm in length. The EMLA pretreatment group reported lower pain scores in comparison with the routine processing group (2.4 vs. 4.5 on VAS, P<0.05), and lower discomfort scores during the procedure (2.0 vs. 3.3, P=0.60). Overall satisfaction was significantly higher in the EMLA pretreatment group (7.8 vs. 6.1, P<0.05). Conclusions Pretreating facial lacerations with EMLA topical cream aids patients by reducing pain and further enhancing overall satisfaction during laceration treatment.

LiDAR has been one of the widely used and important technologies for 3D modeling of ground surface and objects because of its ability to provide dense and accurate range measurement. The objective of this research is to develop a method for automatic detection and modeling of railroad power lines using high density LiDAR data and RANSAC algorithms. For detecting railroad power lines, multi-echoes properties of laser data and shape knowledge of railroad power lines were employed. Cuboid analysis for detecting seed line segments, tracking lines, connecting and labeling are the main processes. For modeling railroad power lines, iterative RANSAC and least square adjustment were carried out to estimate the lines parameters. The validation of the result is very challenging due to the difficulties in determining the actual references on the ground surface. Standard deviations of 8cm and 5cm for x-y and z coordinates, respectively are satisfactory outcomes. In case of completeness, the result of visual inspection shows that all the lines are detected and modeled well as compare with the original point clouds. The overall processes are fully automated and the methods manage any state of railroad wires efficiently.
Objectives : The purpose of the research is to measure Dental Hygiene students' level of musculoskeletal pain before and after receiving scaling training which involves repetitive operations and examine effects the operations have on the students' grip and pinch strength. Methods : 15 subjects in Dental Hygiene at Y university located in Chungbuk were tested on November 2, 2011. Results : 12 students had a musculoskeletal pain before receiving scaling training. However, all the 15 students had a musculoskeletal pain after the training. Body part the largest number of the students complained of the pain on was shoulders(37.9%) followed by neck(20.8%), waist(13.9%), wrists(10.3%), then back(6.9%) before receiving the training. Then the result showed that shoulders are where the largest number of students(24.1%) felt the pain, followed by neck(17.2%), wrists and fingers(13.8%), waist(12.1%), back and lower arms(6.9%), then palms(5.2%) after the training. Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) increased to $6.35{\pm}2.09$ after receiving the training from $3.31{\pm}3.38$ and this shows statistically significant difference(p<.001). Upon inspection, average grip strength decreased to $23.23{\pm}5.79kg$ from $25.00{\pm}4.51kg$ after receiving the training and this shows statistically significant difference(p<.05). Key pinch was the strongest among the three pinch strengths followed by tripod pinch then tip pinch. Average of all the three pinch strengths showed to have statistically significant difference before and after the training(p<.05); Tip pinch from $6.53{\pm}1.36$ to $5.87{\pm}1.3$, key pinch from $13.47{\pm}2.5$ to $12.53{\pm}2.30$, and tripod pinch from $9.27{\pm}3.04$ to $8.03{\pm}2.72$. Conclusions : The result showed that scaling training has effects on Dental Hygiene students' musculoskeletal subjective symptoms and their grip and pinch strength changes after receiving the training.
In this paper, we propose a method for construction of robust 3D statistical shape model in the mandible CT datasets. Our method consists of following four steps. First, we decompose a 3D input shape Into patches. Second, to generate a corresponding shape of a floating shape, all shapes in the training set are parameterized onto a disk similar to the patch topology. Third, we generate the corresponding shape by one-to-one mapping between the reference and the floating shapes. We solve the problem failed to generate the corresponding points near the patch boundary Finally, the corresponding shapes are aligned with the reference shape. Then statistical shape model is generated by principle component analysis. To evaluate the accuracy of our 3D statistical shape model of the mandible, we perform visual inspection and similarity measure using average distance difference between the floating and the corresponding shapes. In addition, we measure the compactness of statistical shape model using the modes of variation. Experimental results show that our 3D statistical shape model generated by the mandible CT datasets with various characteristics has a high similarity between the floating and corresponding shapes and is represented by the small number of modes.

Stress-balanced flat 150 nm-$Si_{3}N_{4}$/300 nm-$SiO_{2}$/150 nm-$Si_{3}N_{4}$ dielectric membrane on silicon substrate has been fabricated. Analyses of stress-deflection and stress-temperature, and visual inspection for the strain diagnostic test patterns were performed in order to characterize stress properties of the membrane. The $SiO_{2}$ layers sandwiched between two $Si_{3}N_{4}$ layers were deposited by three different techniques(PECVD, LPCVD, and APCVD) for the purpose of investigating the dependence of stress on the deposition methods. Some extent of tensile stress in the membrane was always observed regardless of the deposition methods, however it could be balanced against silicon substrate by post-wet oxidation in $1,150^{\circ}C$. Stress-temperature characteristics of the membranes showed that APCVD-LTO was better as mid-$SiO_{2}$ layer than PECVD - or LPCVD - $SiO_{2}$ when there was no oxidation process.
Objectives: This study was performed to analyze the toxicity and to find the lethal dose of the test substance Water-soluble Carthami-flos pharmacopuncture (WCF) when used as a single intravenous-dose in 6-week-old, male and female Sprague-Dawley rats. Methods: The experiment was conducted at Biotoxtech according to Good Laboratory Practices. 20 female and 20 male Spague-Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups of 5 female and 5 male animals per group. The rats in the three experimental groups received single intravenous injections with 0.125-mL, 0.25-mL and 0.5-mL/animal doses of WCF, Groups 2, 3, and 4, respectively, and the control group, Group 1, received a single intravenous injection with a 0.5-mL dose of normal saline. Clinical signs were observed and body weight measurements were carried out for 14 days following the injections. At the end of the observation period, hematology, clinical chemistry, histopathological tests and necropsy were performed on the injected parts. Results: No deaths occurred in any of the groups. Also, no significant changes in body weight, hematological parameters or clinical chemistry test results between the control group and the experimental groups were observed. Visual inspection after necropsy showed no abnormalities. Histopathological tests on the injected parts showed no significant differences, except for Group 1 females; however, the result was spontaneous generation and had no toxicological meaning because it was not dose-dependent. Therefore, this study showed that WCF had no effect on the injected parts in terms of clinical signs, body weight, hematology, clinical chemistry, and necropsy. Conclusion: As a result of single intravenous-dose tests of the test substance WCF in 4 groups of rats, the lethal dose for both males and females exceeded 0.5 mL/animal. Therefore, WCF is a relatively safe pharmacopuncture that can be used for treatment, but further studies should be performed.

Currently, the quality measurement of the work is carried out by the supervisor's visual inspection, as the workers individually judge the number of resolutions, thickness, speed and vibration. After work, we are conducting follow-up work through traditional spot test, which is less representative. Therefore, it is impossible to check the results of the resolution, and there is always the possibility that problems will arise due to poor construction. This study demonstrates the feasibility of using the continuous compaction strength measurement method by comparing the continuous compaction strength measurement method and the conventional compaction strength measurement method after performing the compaction in the actual field scale in various test conditions. The validity is verified by analyzing the Compaction Meter Value of an Intelligent Compaction roller composed of a Global Positioning System and an accelerometer, Based on the proven results, a full range of quality can be confirmed without a single test. The quality confirmation is visualized in the compaction control program developed in this study, This enables the field manager to perform real-time quality monitoring at the same time as compaction.
Surface Image Velocimetry (SIV) is a recently-developed discharge measurement instrument. It uses image processing techniques to measure the water surface velocity and estimate water discharge with given cross section. The present study aims to implement a FSIV (Fixed-type Surface Image Velocimetry) at Soojeon Bridge in the Dalcheon. The hardware system consists of two digital cameras, a computer, and a pressure-type water stage gauge. The images taken with the hardware system are sent to a server computer via a wireless internet, and analyzed with a image processing software (SIV software). The estimated discharges were compared with the observed discharges through Goesan dam spillway and index velocity method using ADVM. The computed results showed a good agreement with the observed one, except for the night time. The results compared with discharges through Goesan dam spillway reached around 5~10% in the case of discharge over 30 m3/s, and the results compared with discharges through index velocity method using ADVM reached around 5% in the case of discharge over 200 $m^3/s$. Considering the low cost of the system and the visual inspection of the site situation with the images, the SIV would be fairly good way to measure water discharge in real time.

We search for misclassified type 1 AGNs among type 2 AGNs identified with emission line flux ratios, and investigate the properties of the sample. Using 4 113 local type 2 AGNs at 0.02 < z < 0.05 selected from Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 7, we detected a broad component of the $H{\alpha}$ line with a Full-Width at Half-Maximum (FWHM) ranging from 1 700 to $19090km\;s^{-1}$ for 142 objects, based on the spectral decomposition and visual inspection. The fraction of the misclassified type 1 AGNs among type 2 AGN sample is ~3.5%, implying that a large number of missing type 1 AGN population may exist. The misclassified type 1 AGNs have relatively low luminosity with a mean broad $H{\alpha}$ luminosity, log $L_{H\alpha}=40.50{\pm}0.35\;erg\;s^{-1}$, while black hole mass of the sample is comparable to that of the local black hole population, with a mean black hole mass, log $M_{BH}=6.94{\pm}0.51\;M_{\odot}$. The mean Eddington ratio of the sample is log $L_{bol}/L_{Edd}=-2.00{\pm}0.40$, indicating that black hole activity is relatively weak, hence, AGN continuum is too weak to change the host galaxy color. We find that the O III lines show significant velocity offsets, presumably due to outflows in the narrow-line region, while the velocity offset of the narrow component of the $H{\alpha}$ line is not prominent, consistent with the ionized gas kinematics of general type 1 AGN population.
We propose an automatic segmentation method for identifying pulmonary structures using gray-level information of chest CT images. Our method consists of following five steps. First, to segment pulmonary structures based on the difference of gray-level value, we select the threshold using optimal thresholding. Second, we separate the thorax from the background air and then the lungs and airways from the thorax by applying the inverse operation of 2D region growing in chest CT images. To eliminate non-pulmonary structures which has similar intensities with the lungs, we use 3D connected component labeling. Third, we segment the trachea and left and right mainstem bronchi using 3D branch-based region growing in chest CT images. Fourth, we can obtain accurate lung boundaries by subtracting the result of third step from the result of second step. Finally, we select the threshold in accordance with histogram analysis and then segment radio-dense pulmonary vessels by applying gray-level thresholding to the result of the second step. To evaluate the accuracy of proposed method, we make a visual inspection of segmentation result of lungs, airways and pulmonary vessels. We compare the result of the conventional region growing with the result of proposed 3D branch-based region growing. Experimental results show that our proposed method extracts lung boundaries, airways, and pulmonary vessels automatically and accurately.
