Preparation and Characteristics of Magnetite Ferrofluid (Magnetite 강자성유체의 제조와 그 특성)

  • The magnetite ferrofluids of which solvents are water or kerosene have been prepared by making surfactant absorbed on the surface of the magnetite which have been synthesized by air oxidation of Fe(OH)2 at pH 11 and 75$^{\circ}C$, and their basic properties have been measured by XRD, SEM, DTA, TG, viscometer, magnetometer and B-H tracer. The results are as follows ; 1) The shape of magnetite prepared by air oxidation is found to be sphere-like shape and its particle size is smaller than 200A. 2) The maximum amount of sodium oleate adsorbed on the surface of magnetite is about 20% in the weight of the magnetite including the adsorbed sodium oleate. And when magnetite is well dispersed into solvent, R(the weight ratio of the added sodium oleate to Fe3O4) is 0.40-0.48. 3) The dispersion ratio, the viscosity and the magnetization of magnetite ferrofluid are constant regardless of the added amount of sodium oleate above R=0.40-0.48. 4) The magnetic hysteresis curves of magnetite ferrofluid show superparamagnetism-like behavior.

Effect of Blastfurnace Slag Fineness on the Rheological Properties of Cement Pastes (고로슬래그 분말도가 시멘트 페이스트의 유동특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, the rheological properties of cement pastes containing blastfurnace slag of different fineness were investigated. The fluidity of cement pastes with low Blaine value blastfurnace slag was increased with decreasing the plastic viscosity and the yield stress of pastes. And the optimum dosage of polycarboxylate type superplasticizer to the cement pastes was confirmed according to the fineness and the replacement ratio of blastfurnace slag. All cement pastes showed the thixotropy behavior. And also it was formed that the segregation range of cement pastes was occurred below $10D/cm^2$ of the yield stress and below 350 cPs of the plastic viscosity by the coaxial cylinder viscometer.

  • For the fine-pitch application of flip-chip bonding with semiconductor packaging, fluxing and hybrid underfills were developed. A micro-encapsulated catalyst was adopted to control the chemical reaction at room and processing temperatures. From the experiments with a differential scanning calorimetry and viscometer, the chemical reaction and viscosity changes were quantitatively characterized, and the optimum type and amount of micro-encapsulated catalyst were determined to obtain the best pot life from a commercial viewpoint. It is expected that fluxing and hybrid underfills will be applied to fine-pitch flip-chip bonding processes and be highly reliable.

  • This paper has dealt with thermo-physical properties of microencapsulated phase change material slurry as a latent heat storage material having a low melting point. The measured results of the thermo-physical properties of the test microencapsulated phase change material slurry, those are, density, specific heat, thermal conductivity and viscosity, were discussed for the temperature region of solid and liquid phases of the dispersion material (paraffin). The measurements of these properties of microencapsulated phase change material slurry have been carried out by using a specific-gravity meter, a water calorimeter, a differential scanning calorimeter(DSC), a transient hot wire method and rotating type viscometer, respectively. It was clarified that the additional properties law could be applied to the estimation of the density and specific heat of microencapsulated phase change material slurry and also the Euckens equation could be applied to the estimation of the thermal conductivity of this slurry.

  • MR (Magneto Rheological) fluids are well known as a smart fluid and their application researches to control vibration have been conducted by many researchers. However, their dynamic properties have not been identified clearly yet. Therefore, the MR effect is investigated by using a rotational viscometer and a single degree of freedom system with an MR damper. The results obtained from the experimental study show that stiffness and viscous damping coefficients of the system with an MR damper are changed according to the variation of the applied current.

  • This study has focused on the possibility for recycling of tailings from the Sangdong tungsten mine as powder. The experimental tests for entrapped water ratio were carried out in accordance with the specificed method by Okamura. The rheological measurements of cement paste were conducted by using a commerically digital Brookfield viscometer (Model LVDV-II+) equipped with cylindrical spindles. The results of this study, in case of cement paste mixed with tailings, entrapped water ratio was decreased with increasement of mixing ratio. Thickness of pseudo water film was increased, and mean plastic viscosity was decreased with increasing replacement.

유산균의 polysaccharide 생성에 의한 우유 배양액의 점도변화

  • 유산균이 생성하는 polysaccharide 에 관한 연구의 일환으로서 L. casei YIT 9018 SKD-0007, L. bulgaricus SKD-0003, sir. faecalis SKD-1007, str. thermophilus SKD- 1005, str. thermophilus 510 SKD-1006등을 탈지유에 배양하면서 polysaccharide 생성에 의한 배양액의 점도 변화를 검토하였다. 이러한 다당류가 Antitumor로서의 활성과 제암효과를 가지며 인체내의 생리효과를 고양시킨다고 보고되어 있는바 다당류가 최대로 생성되는 조건을 찾는 것을 본 실험의 목적으로 하였다. 다당류의 생성을 측정하는 방법으로서 배지로는 10% 환원탈지유와 12% 환원전지유를 선택하였으며 Brookfield Viscometer를 사용하여 배양액의 점도를 경시적으로 측정하였다. 시험균 중에서 str. thermophilus 510 SKD-1006이 가장 높은 점도를 나타내었는데 41$^{\circ}C$ 배양 5일째에 5000 cps였고 다른균에 비해서 1000cps이상 높았다. 접종량이 증가할수록 점도도 증가하였으며 14%이상의 탈지유 농도에서는 7000cps를 나타냈다. 탈지유와 전지유 배양액 모두 의가소성 유체의 유동 양식을 나타내었는데 12% 환원전지유 배양액은 최대점도값이 2500 cps에 불과하였으며 배양 2일째에 최대점도 값에 도달하여 그 이후로 급격한 감소현상을 보였다.

  • The effects of the viscosity of an adjacent viscous fluid on the characteristics of the elastic waves have been studied theoretically and experimentally. Expressions for the wave speed and attenuation of the elastic waves of transverse motion, such as the torsional wave propagating in a circular cylinder and the Love wave in a layered half-space solid, have been obtained as functions of the viscosity and mass density of the fluid by exact and asymptotic analyses. The theoretical results have been compared with experimental observations, and it has been demonstrated that a device described herein can be used as a sensor for measuring the viscosity of a fluid with a known mass density.

  • The rheological properties of seven mixed sugar solutions of glucose, fructose, maltose, sucrose, and two kinds of honey, the chestnut and the acacia, were discussed. The fluidity of the above samples were studied by using the applied pressure horizontal viscometer with which glycerine was confirmed to be a Newtonian flow at $25^{\circ}C$. Time required to pass the constant volume of the sample fluids through the capillary was measured at various pressure differences, ${\Delta}p$, and the ${\Delta}p$ vs ${\Delta}p{\cdot}t$ in the Poiseuille equation was plotted. Shear rate against shearing stress, on the other hand, was plotted for the sample fluids and it was found that all the sample fluids have shown a Newtonian behavior. It was interesting to note that the shear viscosity increased as the concentration of sugar solutions increased, and as the concentration of sucrose became higher than that of maltose, although the total concentration of sugar solution is constant.

  • The purpose of this study is to get comparitive results on the combined accelerator systems comprised of MBT, MBTS, DPG and CBS with TMTD, TMTM and Zn-MDC to SBR compound. Vulcanization characterstics and physical properties of the combined accelerators have been studied by means of the Mooney viscometer, the Monsanto disc rheometer, tensile testing machine, aging chamber and so on. According to the test results, DPG, MBT and Zn-MDC system have show faster Mooney scorch time and optimum cure time than other systems. The Vulcanizate comprise of DPG, MBT and TMTD accelerator system has taken adventage of tensile strength, elongation, 100% modulus, resilience, compresion set.
