  • A modeling method for the modal analysis of a rotating cross-ply composite beam based on Timoshenko beam theory is presented. To analyze the composite beam exactly, the effects of shear deformation and rotary inertia are included. Linear differential equations of motion are derived using the assumed mode method. For the modeling, hybrid deformation variables are employed and approximated to derive the equations of motion. The effects of the dimensionless angular velocity and the slenderness ratio parameter on the variations of modal characteristics are investigated

  • In this paper, a modeling method for the vibration analysis of rotating structures employing multi-reference frames is presented. The geometric stiffening effect that results from centrifugal inertia force is considered. In most previous studies single reference frame has been employed for the analysis. In the present study, a modeling method employing multi-reference frames is presented, and the effects of employing multi-reference frames on the analysis accuracy are investigated through solving numerical examples.

  • MRE(Magneto-rheological Elastomer) is a material which shows reversible and various modulus in magnetic field. Comparing to conventional rubber vibration isolator, MREs are able to absorb broader frequency range of vibration. These characteristic phenomena result from the orientation of magnetic particle (i.e., chain-like formation). Magnetic reactive powder(MRP), having rapid magnetic reaction, was selected as a magnetic particle to give magnetic field reactive modulus. The mechanical properties of manufactured MREs were measured with the application of magnetic field. The analysis of MR effect was carried out by FFT analyzer with various induced current. As induced magnetic field intensity increased and coated with MRP, increment of MR effect was observed.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to present an analytical method for free vibration of arches with thickness varying in a discontinuous fashion. The ordinary differential equations governing the free vibration of these arches are derived as nondimensional forms including the effect of rotatory inertia. The governing equation are solved numerically for the circular and sinusoidal arches with hinged-hinged-hinged end clamped-clamped end constraints. As the numerical results, the effect of rotatory inertia on the natural frequencies is reported. The lowest four natural frequencies are presented as the functions of four nondimensional system parameters; the rise to span length ratio, the slenderness ratio, the section ratio and the ratio of discontinuous section.

  • Non-contact modal testing for longitudinal modes of a pipe is discussed in this work. The suggested method can generate and measure longitudinal vibrations without mechanical contact by using the coupling phenomenon between deformation and magnetic field, known as the magnetostrictive effect. This effect has been used to generate and measure ultrasonic waves, but seldom used to deal with audible vibrations. In this investigation, the validity of the developed method in a typical vibration frequency range is checked with an inconel pipe being used in nuclear power plants.

  • This paper investigated vibrational behavior of the osteon as bone unit in the different situations. This study can lead to increase our knowledge of our body. In this paper free vibration of the osteon with considering it as composite material has been studied. The effect of numbers of lamellae and radius of those on natural frequency of osteon are subtle; while thickness of lamellae have decreasing trend on natural frequency of osteon. The presence of nerve and blood in haversian canal change trend of natural frequency, absolutely. Using the nonlocal strain gradient theory(NSGT) leads to effectiveness of scale parameter on equations of motion and the obtained results. The governing equations are derived by Hamilton's principles. A parametric study is presented to examine the effect of various parameters on vibrational behaviour of osteon. The results can also be regarded as a benchmark in vibration analysis behavior of osteon as bone unite.

  • The purpose of this work is to analyze the effect of structure parameter disturbance on the dynamic characteristics of a hydropower station powerhouse. A vibration model with a head-cover system is established, and then the general disturbance problem analysis methods are discussed. Two new formulae based on two types of disturbances are developed from existing methods. The correctness and feasibility of these two formulae are validated by analyzing the hydropower station powerhouse vibration model. The appropriate calculation method for disturbance of the hydropower station powerhouse vibration dynamic characteristics is derived.

  • This paper studies application of modified couple stress theory and first order shear deformation theory to magneto-electro-mechanical vibration analysis of three-layered size-dependent curved beam. The curved beam is resting on Pasternak's foundation and is subjected to mechanical, magnetic and electrical loads. Size dependency is accounted by employing a small scale parameter based on modified couple stress theory. The magneto-electro-mechanical preloads are accounted in governing equations to obtain natural frequencies in terms of initial magneto-electro-mechanical loads. The analytical approach is applied to investigate the effect of some important parameters such as opening angle, initial electric and magnetic potentials, small scale parameter, and some geometric dimensionless parameters and direct and shear parameters of elastic foundation on the magneto-electro-elastic vibration responses.

  • Using the classical, first order and third order shear deformation plates theories the motion equations of an undrained porous FG circular plate which is located on visco-Pasternak elastic foundation have been derived and used for free vibration analysis thereof. Strains are related to displacements by Sanders relationship. Fluid has saturated the pores whose distribution varies through the thickness according to three physically probable given functions. The equations are discretized and numerically solved by the generalized differential quadrature method. The effect of porosity, pores distribution, fluid compressibility, viscoelastic foundation and aspect ratio of the plate on its vibration has been considered.
