  • For a vertical type crankshaft-journal bearing system used in scroll compressor, nonlinear transient response analysis is applied includung nonlinear fluid film reaction forces of journal beatings. By a connected behavior analysis of crankshaft and orbiting scroll, the radial clearance of scroll wraps is calculated. Considering tangential leakage for this clearance, a coupled analysis model for leakage and dynamic behavior of the orbiting scroll is made, and analyzed by iterative calculation. By regarding clearances of main, sub bearing of crankshaft and orbiting scroll shaft bearing clearance as design parameters, the radial clearance of scroll wraps is analyzed.

  • Mobile internet access using such devices as PDAs and cellular phones becomes popular as mobile technologies grow. However, the characteristics of small screen devices such as small screen size and pen-based input cause many usability problems. In this study, a human factors experiment was conducted to identify the factors affecting the usability of information search on a PDA. Factors manipulated in the experiment included use of wheel equipment, scroll dimension, and screen orientation. Task completion time, error frequency, and subjective satisfaction level were measured. In addition, various users' behavioral patterns such as scanning routes and mainly used scrolling methods were analyzed. Scroll dimension has a significant effect on task completion time. Scroll equipment and screen orientation affect subjective satisfaction level. The results could be applied to designing information structure of web sites for mobile use by providing vertical scroll and using external scroll equipments.

  • Pressures in compression pockets consists of two identical spiral scrolls are influenced by gas flow resistance in discharge process and leakages in radial and tangential directions between two scroll wraps. In this paper, considering geometrical characteristics of these members, flow resistance and refrigerant gas leakage losses, pressure variations in compression pockets are calculated. For a scroll compressor model with fixed crank mechanism, acting load on crankshaft is analyzed. And, for a vertical type crankshaft-journal bearing system used in scroll compressor, nonlinear transient response is calculated including nonlinear fluid film reaction forces of journal bearings.

  • The growth of Web comics is very noticeable in Korean comic market as the 21st century is entered. In amongst these1 trends, the scroll comics had established it self as one of the main stream form for expression, outside the form of the traditional published comics, so it is providing a new visual experience for the readers. The scroll method uses the large vertical space that is uncomparable to the column compartment of the printed comics, and its uses of animation-like techniques, innovative partitioning, flob styles and narration partition positioning, the limitless canvas and the scroll bar of the web page, is leading the digital comic age. However, it is still very uncertain whether the 'scroll comics' will still be valid in the age of Web2.0. It is concerning that even though there are limitless potential in the realms of digital and web, the web comics seem to be bound to one particular medium, 'scroll'. In this report, the form of expression in the scroll centered web comics will be analyzed, and based on this, the future evolution of digital comics shall be investigated.

  • Acoustic modes of internal region of 4-hp scroll compressor are identified by measuring transfer functions between a reference and 84 measuring points. The corresponding acoustic mode-shapes and natural frequencies were calculated by analysis software SYSNOISE. There exist two clearly distinguishable dipole modes of vertical and horizontal direction and a single quadrupole mode in the frequency region of interest. It shows that the natural frequencies of the identified modes are linearly sensitive to suction pressure (Ps) but relatively in sensitive to discharge pressure (Pd) in operating condition.

  • Scroll compressors are widely used in air conditioning systems and in automobiles due to their low pressure loss, minimal vibrations, and light-weight. Open-die forging with back pressure is used to forge the rotating scroll, and it requires special care since the forging die can be severely damaged at the fixed end of the spiral cavity similar to a fracture of a cantilever beam. To overcome the inevitable weakness of the forging die due to such damage, an innovative design is necessary. In this study, structural analysis using the finite element method was conducted to determine the reason for the fracture of the forging die. A novel design to avoid stress concentrations and vertical deflection, causing serious damage to the die, is suggested.

  • As digital mobile technology has advanced, vertical videos have emerged as a prominent format in the contemporary media field, presenting a new visual language that challenges traditional horizontal-centric aesthetic norms. This study delves into the visual and structural parallels and distinctions between traditional East Asian Hanging scrolls and contemporary vertical videos by applying traditional spatial composition techniques such as the 'Three Distances', 'One River, Two Banks', 'Intended Blank', and 'Unity of Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting' to the creation of modern vertical videos. Through this comparative analysis, the research examines how vertical layouts enhance depth and layering of the screen, deepen emotional expression, and offer creators new avenues for expression. By juxtaposing the spatial compositions of traditional East Asian Hanging scrolls with those prevalent in today's digital vertical videos, this study seeks to uncover new visual languages and aesthetic values within the evolving media field.

  • This study investigated how layouts can be arranged to improve the user experience in response to changes in the size of responsive webs in a multi - device environment. The layout elements of the responsive web are largely divided into a header, a main concept image, a main content, a sub-content, and a footer. As the screen becomes smaller, the use of drawers and the menu of the scrolling menus rather than the vertical menus will help improve the user experience. The main concept image should be consistent and not lose readability through the use of system fonts. The main content and the sub content should be prevented from being long in the vertical scroll, and the card UI, the table list and the grid list could be alternatively presented for this purpose. Another problem with vertical scrolling is that the placement of user-selectable menus, such as more or new content corrections, is helpful in improving the user experience.

  • As webtoon became activated, new forms of expression corresponding to a web format were appeared. New forms can be classified into two. The first is regarding on the computer, which includes a wide use of CG, and color comics. The second is related to web-based one, which includes the trend of a vertical scroll, the introduction of concept in time, animation stage effects, the manufacture trend of media optimization, and the various media mixing. While problems regarding web-based comics service such as copyright and cartoonist become manifested, webtoon will widen new horizon of comics with its characteristics and the change in the form of expression.

  • This study aimed to investigate the types that readers enjoying cartoons appreciated cartoons under the premise that cartoons enjoyed over the internet would expand their sensitivity through media such as monitors and mice. The sensitivity of readers enjoying digital cartoons can be stimulated through communication with carton writers or other readers as the interaction of the real-time response to the network. The choice and control are possible with a vertical scroll bar. Accordingly, readers can be absorbed in a work and focus on its story much more. As a result of extracting emotional stimulation factors to verify these assumptions, factors were able to classify the sensitivity that readers enjoying cartoons obtained from digital cartoons into two types, communication and story-focus type, based on the phases that emotional stimuli were strengthened. This study will be significant as a study to identify the relationship between media-technological factors and readers enjoying cartoons in relation to digital cartoons.
