공극률에 따른 제주도 현무암의 역학적 특성 (Mechanical Characteristics of Basalt in Jeju Island with Relation to Porosity)

  • 마그마에 의해 지표부근에서 형성된 화산암은 마그마 내부에 존재하던 휘발성분으로 인하여 기공이 많은 다공상 구조를 나타낸다. 이러한 기공은 다양한 크기와 양으로 분포되어 있으나 기공이 화산암의 역학적 특성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 연구는 매우 미비하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 화산암 기공의 공극률에 따른 역학적 특성을 시험을 통해 확인하였는데, 화산암의 한 종류인 제주도 현무암에 있어 공극률을 두가지 측정방법에 따라 측정하고, 공극률과 일축압축강도, 탄성계수, 인장강도, 탄성파속도와의 관계 및 탄성파 속도와 일축압축강도, 탄성계수와의 관계를 회귀분석에 의해 추정하여 그 관계식을 제시하였다. 그 결과, 공극률 측정방법에 있어서는 공극률이 5%이상인 다공질 현무암의 경우 부력 이용 방법이 캘리퍼 방법보다 정확한 공극률을 예측한다고 판단되며, 공극률이 증가함에 따라 일축압축강도와 탄성계수, 탄성파 속도는 곡선적으로 감소하였고, 탄성파속도가 증가할수록 일축압축강도와 탄성계수는 선형적으로 증가하였다.

계단에서 올라가는 군집보행의 속도에 관한 조사 및 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Character and Walking Velocity of Crowd Going up Stairs)

  • 현대 도시는 수평적 토지이용의 제한, 지가 상숭, 인간 요구의 다양화 등으로 인하여 도시기능의 일부를 지하공간으로 흡수하고자 하는 노력이 증가하는 추세이다. 따라서 건축물의 지하층, 지하철 역사 등이 점차 대심도화 되어 지하공간에서 지상으로 피난에 대한 안전성 여부가 부각되고 있다. 그동안 계단에서 군집보행에 관한 연구는 내려가는 군집보행을 중심으로 진행되어 왔으며, 계단에서 올라가는 군집보행에 대한 연구는 거의 전무한 상황이다. 본 연구에서는한 방향 군집유통이 형성되는 지하철 역사 숭강장 내 계단에서 올라가는 군집의 밀도에 따른 보행속도를 직접 실촉하여 조사하였다. 올라가는 보행은 실측결과 경사도 $23^{\circ}$에서 관계식 V=0.638-0.0949p에 의해 보행속도가 결정되며, 이를 일본건축학회에서 제안하는 계단 경사도에 따른 평균보행속도를 근거로 환산하면 경사도 $30^{\circ}$에서는 V=0.597-0.1067p가 되는 것으로 분석되었다.

영산강수계의 죽산보에 설치된 어도에서 어류의 이동성 평가 (Fish Passage Assessments in the Fishway of Juksan Weir Constructed in the Downstream Area of Youngsan-River Watershed)

  • Fish passage asssessments were conducted in the fishway at Juksan Weir, which was constructed as a four-major rivers project in the downstream area of Youngsan-River Watershed. For the research, fish-movements/migrations were analyzed for seven times from April ~ October, 2013 using an approach of fish trap-setting. Fish fauna and compositions were analyzed in the fishway, and seasonal- and diel-movement patterns were analyzed in relation to current velocity in the fishway. Also, abundances of exotic fishes such as bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus), large-mouth bass (Micropterus salmoides), and white curcian carp (Carassius cuvieri) were monitored in the fishway. Current velocity(n = 18) in the fishway showed large variations ($0.82{\pm}0.63m/s$) depending on the location of the fish trap-setting and this physical factor influenced the fish movements. Fish movements, based on the CPUE of individuals, in the fishway was greater in slower velocity (mean: 0.36 m/s, range: 0.10~1.54 m/s) than faster velocity (mean: 1.51 m/s, range: 0.90~1.90 m/s). Seasonal analysis of fish movements showed that most frequent uses (8 speices and 591 individuals, 66.2% of the total) of the fishway occurred in spring period(i.e., June). Diel movement analysis, in the mean time, showed highest in the time period of 00:00 ~ 3:00 am (7 species and 281 individuals, 20.9% of the total). The efficient managements in the fishway at Juksan Weir are required in relation to the hydrological regime.

SPATIALLY RESOLVED KINEMATICS OF GAS AND STARS IN HIDDEN TYPE 1 AGNS

  • We analyze the spatially resolved kinematics of gas and stars for a sample of ten hidden type 1 AGNs in order to investigate the nature of their central sources and the scaling relation with host galaxy stellar velocity dispersion. We select our sample from a large number of hidden type 1 AGNs, which are identified based on the presence of a broad (full width at half maximum ≳1000 km s-1) component in the Hα line profile and which are frequently mis-classified as type 2 AGNs because AGN continuum and broad emission lines are weak or obscured in the optical spectral range. We used the Blue Channel Spectrograph at the 6.5-m Multiple Mirror Telescope to obtain long-slit data with a spatial scale of 0.3 arcsec pixel-1. We detected broad Hβ lines for only two targets; however, the presence of strong broad Hα lines indicates that the AGNs we selected are all low-luminosity type 1 AGNs. We measured the velocity, velocity dispersion, and flux of stellar continuum and gas emission lines (i.e., Hβ and [O III]) as a function of distance from the center. The spatially resolved gas kinematics traced by Hβ or [O III] are generally similar to the stellar kinematics except for the inner center, where signatures of gas outflows are detected. We compare the luminosity-weighted effective stellar velocity dispersions with the black hole masses and find that our hidden type 1 AGNs, which have relatively low back hole masses, follow the same scaling relation as reverberation-mapped type 1 AGN and more massive inactive galaxies.

Retrieval of Spherical Ocean Wave Parameters Using RADARSAT-2 SAR Sensor Observed at Chukk, Micronesia

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the spherical wave parameters that appears in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image acquired over the coast of Chukk, Micronesia. The retrieval of ocean wave parameters consists of two main stages: the first is to determine the dominant wavelengths by Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) over 16 sub-image areas and the second is to estimate wave slopes and heights using dispersion relationship under various water wave conditions. It is assumed that the spherical waves are linear and progressive. These type of waves have the range and azimuth components traveling in radial directions. The azimuth travelling waves are more affected by the velocity bunching mechanism and it is difficult to estimate the wave parameters for these affected areas in SAR imagery. In order to compensate these effects, the velocity bunching ratio (VBR) based on modulation transfer function (MTF) was compared with the intensity ratio for neighbor area in the radial direction in order to assign the spherical wave properties for azimuthally travelling waves. Dispersion relation provides the good estimates for the wave heights for all the selected sub-image areas in the range of 1m to 2m. VBR based on MTF was found to be 0.78 at wave height of 1.36m, while the intensity-based VBR was 0.69 which corresponds to the height of 1.75m. It can be said that the velocity bunching accounts for azimuthally travelling spherical waves and the difference results from the sea-bottom effects.

  • The effect of positive inotropic agents on the contractile properties of myocardial muscle were studied in the cat papillary muscle preparation. For the purpose, the effects of ouabain $(1{\times}10^{-6}g/ml)$, norepinephrine (0.05r/m1) and Aconiti tuber butanol fraction (AF(5), $1{\times}10^{-4}$, $5{\times}10^{-4}$, $1{\times}10^{-3}$, $2{\times}10^{-3}g/ml$) on the contractile dynamics of the papillary muscle preparation isolated from right ventricle of cat were observed in terms of the characteristics of isometric twitch and the lengh-tension relation, the force-velocity relation and the load-extension relation of the series elastic component of contractile model of A.V. Hill. All the studied inotropic drugs similary increased the rate and the intensity of the developed isometric tension, while shortened the time from onset of contraction to peak tension and the total duration of contraction. In the afterloaded simultaneous isotonic and isometric contraction, they also similary increased the maximal velocity of shortening accompanied with the increasing the maximum developed force. In the load-extension relation all the drugs, however, had no appreciable influence on the properties of the series elastic component. Increasing the concentration, Aconiti tuber butanol fraction produced more pronounced effect on all the studied parameters of isometric and isotonic contraction of cat papillary muscle preparation. From the aspect of contractile dynamics, it seemed that the positive inotropic effect of ouabain, norepinephrine and Aconiti tuber butanol fraction are similary achieved through an influence on the behavior of the contractile component only.

현장 실험을 통한 암반 탄성파 속도와 암반평가 인자 비교 (Comparison of Seismic Velocity and Rock Mass Rating from in situ Measurement)

  • 이 연구에서는 탄성파 속도를 이용한 암반분류(RMR)의 근거를 정량적으로 확인하기 위해 3공의 시추공 시추자료(지층 경계, RMR 등)와 현장 탄성파 측정 자료들과의 관계를 살펴보았다. 현장에서 획득된 탄성파 속도는 심도가 증가함에 따라 단조증가의 경향을 보인다. 각 시추공의 동일 심도에서 RMR, RQD, 절리간격 등의 상호상관성이 관찰되었으나, 탄성파 속도(Vp)는 RQD, 절리간격, UCS, 암편 Vp, RMR 등과 상관관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 시추공(3공)에서 모든 자료에 대하여 심도를 고려하지 않고 분석하였을 경우 현장 탄성파 속도와 대부분의 RMR 인자들은 상관성이 낮지만(예: 일축압축강도와 절리간격의 결정계수: 각각 0.039와 0.091), RMR과 RQD는 상대적으로 높은 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다(RQD와 RMR의 결정계수: 각각 0.193과 0.211). 이러한 결과는 현장 탄성파 속도로부터 각 심도 지점에서의 개별 인자 값의 유추는 불가능하지만, 암반의 전반적인 물성을 포함하고 있는 RMR의 상관관계를 이용하여 개략적인 지반특성의 파악은 가능하다는 점을 시사한다. 아울러, 널리 이용되는 품셈의 연암-보통암의 경계값이 시추조사를 통해 실제 지반의 연암-보통암 경계값에 비해 속도가 느림이 관찰되는데, 이는 품셈의 기준을 재정립할 필요가 있음을 지시한다.

열충격 시험에 의한 암석의 물성변화 (Physical Properties of Rocks according to Heating Treatment)

  • This study were performed thermal shock test for four kind of different rocks (Iksan granite, Namsan granite, Jeongseon marble, Yeongyang sandstone), and according to heating temperature($400^{\circ}C$, $600^{\circ}C$) on samples were investigated physical properties such as specify gravity, porosity, p-wave velocity. As a result, the tendency was appeared that porosity increased, and specific gravity and p-wave velocity decreased at a more higher temperature. But, the situation of change appeared characteristic according to temperature and rock types. In the case of Yeongyang sandstone, it appeared in especially porosity increasing at $400^{\circ}C$. The specific gravity was little change in the all the rock at $400^{\circ}C$ but the decreased at $600^{\circ}C$. Therefore the specific gravity in the temperature range is due to the relatively small impact on the change is expected. Porosity of the granite at $400^{\circ}C$ changes little. but marble in the rate of change is large. Conversely, the sandstone porosity decreased. At $600^{\circ}C$ increased porosity in all of rocks. particularly sandstone the smallest increase in porosity. Experiments showed that p-wave velocity measured through dry rocks was sensitive to quantify the thermal damage. The p-wave velocity of all rocks decreased with increasing temperature. In the relation between porosity and p-wave velocity, p-wave velocity decreased with increasing porosity. On the other hand, in case of Yeongyang sandstone p-wave velocity decreased with decreasing porosity. thus, development of microcracks more affects p-wave velocity than porosity. In this study, damage intensity was well explained with porosity and p-wave velocity values depending on temperature increase.

부상화염에서 화염 곡률반경 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flame Curvature Characteristics in a Lifted Flame)

  • 삼지화염의 화염안정화 메커니즘 중 중요한 한 가지는 화염전파속도이다. 화염전파속도의 정량적인 규명을 위해 Bilger는 층류 유동이론에 근거하여 혼합분율 기울기에 비선형적으로 연관된 삼지화염 전파속도를 실험으로 제시하였다. 그러나 지금까지의 연구에서는 화염의 곡률에 따른 삼지화염 전파속도에 관하여 논의된 바가 없기에, 본 논문에서 화염의 곡률에 따른 화염전파속도의 연관성을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 논문의 결과로 층류부상화염의 부상높이가 연료의 출구속도와 노즐의 직경에 따라서 결정됨을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 정지된 부상화염의 유동속도에 비례하는 연료의 출구속도에 곡률의 크기가 비례함을 보였고, 또 층류부상화염의 부상높이가 높아질수록 곡률반경의 크기가 커짐을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 곡률효과의 중요성이 인식되어야 하며 화염안정화 메커니즘을 표현하기 위해 제안된 Bilger의 제안식이 곡률효과를 고려하여 수정되어야한다.

표면거칠기를 가진 유리의 입자충격 손상기구에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Damage Mechanism of Particle Impact in a Scratched Glass)

  • The damage mechanism by the impact of steel ball on the soda-lime glass having a different surface roughness was investigated. An initiation and a propagation behavior of cracks formed by each impact velocity were quantitatively studied. A 4-point bending test was carried out to evaluate the remaining bending strength of a scratched soda-lime glass which impacted by the steel ball. As the surface roughness was increased, the shape of cracks became more irregular rather than those of the smooth specimens. The phenomenon of turning up in the wing of cone cracks occurred even at the lower velocity than the critical velocity caused the crushing. The threshold velocity of cracks initiation generally became lower than those of smooth specimen. An initiation and a propagation behavior of radial cracks had no relation with the direction of scratch on the surface. The remaning benidng strength of the scratched specimen according to impact velocity had no big difference compared with those of the smooth specimen.
