In this study, the Chiu-2D velocity-flow rate distribution based on theoretical background of the entropy probability method was applied to actual ADCP measurement data of Gangjung Stream in Jeju from July 2011 to June 2015 to predict the parameter that take part in velocity distribution of the stream. In addition, surface velocity measured by SIV (Surface Image Velocimeter) was applied to the predicted parameter to calculate discharge. Calculated discharge was compared with observed discharge of ADCP observed during the same time to analyze propriety and applicability of depth of water velocity average conversion factor. To check applicability of the predicted stream parameter, surface velocity and discharge were calculated using SIV and compared with velocity and flow based on ADCP. Discharge calculated by applying velocity factor of SIV to the Chiu-2D velocity-flow rate distribution and discharge based on depth of water velocity average conversion factor of 0.85 were $0.7171m^3/sec$ and $0.5758m^3/sec$, respectively. Their error rates compared to average ADCP discharge of $0.6664m^3/sec$ were respectively 7.63% and 13.64%. Discharge based on the Chiu-2D velocity-flow distribution showed lower error rate compared to discharge based on depth of water velocity average conversion factor of 0.85.

It is essential to obtain accurate and highly reliable streamflow data for water resources planning, evaluation and management as well as design of hydraulic structures. A new discharge computation method proposed in this research uses Chiu's velocity distribution and estimation of maximum velocity. This method shows acceptable channel discharges comparing these by the exiting velocity-area method. When velocity-area method is used, it is required to observe velocities at every specified point and vertical line using a velocity meter like Price-AA. If the method proposed in this research, is used, however it is not necessary to observe all point velocities needed in the velocity-area method. But this method can not be applied for the cases of very complex and strongly asymmetric channel cross-sections because Chiu's velocity distribution using entropy concept may be quite biased from that of natural rivers.

In the mountain streams in Jeju Island, strong turbulence and roughness usually made it nearly impossible to utilize most of intrusive instrumentation for streamflow discharge measurements. Instead, a non-intrusive fixed electro-magnetic wave surface velocimetry (fixed EWSV: Kalesto) became alternatively popular in many representative streams to measure stream discharge seamlessly. Currently, Kalesto has shown noteworthy performance with little loss in flood discharge measurements and also has successfully provided discharge for every minute. However, Kalesto has been operated to regard its measured one-point velocity as the representative mean velocity for the given cross-section. Therefore, it could be highly possible to potentially encompass discharge measurements errors. In this study, we analyzed the difference between such Kalesto discharge measurements and other alternative concurrent discharge measurements such as Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) and mobile EWSV which were able to measure velocity in multi-points in the cross-section. Consequently, Kalesto discharge deviated from ADCP discharge in amount of 48% for relatively low flow, and more than 20% difference for high flow compared with mobile EWSV discharge measurements. These results indicated that the one-point velocity measured by Kalesto should be used as a cross-sectional mean velocity, rather it should be accounted for as an index-velocity in conjunction with directly measured cross-sectional mean velocity by using more reliable instrumentations. After inducing Kalesto Discharge Correction Coefficient (KDCC) that actually means relationship between index velocity and cross-sectional mean velocity, the corrected discharge from Kalesto was significantly improved. Therefore, we found that index velocity method should be applied to obtain better accuracy of discharge measurement in case of Kalesto operation.

Bora is a strong, usually dry temporally and spatially transient wind that is common at the eastern Adriatic Coast and many other dynamically similar regions around the world. One of the Bora main characteristics is its gustiness, when wind velocities can reach up to five times the mean velocity. Bora often creates significant problems to traffic, structures and human life in general. In this study, Bora velocity and near-ground turbulence are studied using the results of three-level high-frequency Bora field measurements carried out on a meteorological tower near the city of Split, Croatia. These measurements are analyzed for a period from April 2010 until June 2011. This rather long period allows for making quite robust and reliable conclusions. The focus is on mean Bora velocity, turbulence intensity, Reynolds shear stress and turbulence length scale profiles, as well as on Bora velocity power spectra and thermal stratification. The results are compared with commonly used empirical laws and recommendations provided in the ESDU 85020 wind engineering standard to question its applicability to Bora. The obtained results report some interesting findings. In particular, the empirical power- and logarithmic laws proved to fit mean Bora velocity profiles well. With decreasing Bora velocity there is an increase in the power-law exponent and aerodynamic surface roughness length, and simultaneously a decrease in friction velocity. This indicates an urban-like velocity profile for smaller wind velocities and a rural-like velocity profile for larger wind velocities. Bora proved to be near-neutral thermally stratified. Turbulence intensity and lateral component of turbulence length scales agree well with ESDU 85020 for this particular terrain type. Longitudinal and vertical turbulence length scales, Reynolds shear stress and velocity power spectra differ considerably from ESDU 85020. This may have significant implications on calculations of Bora wind loads on structures.

In this paper, we propose a walk status method which can be fused with conventional walk intention method to improve convenience of an electric assistive walking system for elder people with restricted walking capabilities. The system uses a handlebar as a trigger and regards grabbing a handlebar as expressing will to walk. And the system uses a user's linear velocity and angular velocity as linear velocity and angular velocity of a system, checked by laser range finder. To achieve this, we propose a method to find a virtual central point of a human body by estimating a central point between two legs. The experiments are carried out by comparing user's linear velocity and angular velocity, and system's linear velocity and angular velocity. The results show that the error of linear velocity and angular velocity between a user and a system are 1% and 2.77%, which means the linear velocity and angular velocity of a user can be applied to a system. And it is confirmed that the proposed fusion method can prevent a user from being dragged by an assistive walking system or a malfunction caused by lack of experience
To evaluate the effect of flip angle on flow rate measurements obtained with phase contrast MRI according to the flip angle degree in ascending aorta and velocity encoding (VENC) was (150 m/s). 1.5T MRI in patients 17 (female: 8, male: 9, mean age $57.9{\pm}15.4$) as a target by applying a non-breath holding techniques to flip angle VENC (150 cm/s) in each of the ascending aorta was measured by changing $20^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$ and $40^{\circ}$. Blood was obtained a peak velocity, average velocity, net forward volume, net forward volume/body surface area. Ascending aorta from average velocity (AV) measured the average value of the flip angle $20^{\circ}$ (9.87 cm/s), $30^{\circ}$ (9.6 cm/s) and $40^{\circ}$ (10.05 cm/s). Blood flow VENC in was blood flow change in flip angle change was high most blood flow measurement when the flip angle $30^{\circ}$ in VENC, crouching each blood flow is also proportional to the increases in the $20^{\circ}$ to $40^{\circ}$ and was increased, the deviation of the peak velocity and the average velocity is the smallest deviation from the flip angle $30^{\circ}$. Flip angle $20^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$ and $40^{\circ}$ in peak velocity, average velocity, net forward volume, net forward volume/body surface area was no statistically significant difference (p > .05). Blood flow velocity and blood flow is measured by applying to adjust the flip angle accurately calculate the blood flow is important information for diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, and can help in the examination on the blood flow measurement.
The ADCP is an instrument based on Doppler effect, which measures discharge of a river in a short time while crossing it. In this study we aim to make a comparison of the discharge results from a moving-vessel ADCP with those measured by velocity-area method at the same cross-section, and to investigate the characteristics of velocity and discharge data using ADCP. Bathymetry measured by ADCP almost coincides with that by direct depth measurements. Because velocity data from ADCP are essentially instantaneous, individual velocity profiles obtained by ADCP are rather different from time-averaged velocity profiles. But spatially averaged velocity profiles of the individual ADCP data near the comparable verticals have similar vertical velocity pattern with the time-averaged ones. The average velocity profile from repeatedly crossed data is also similar with the time-averaged one. In case of the velocity distribution, individual and spatially averaged data for the sub-width of mid-section method Have good agreement with those by velocity-area method. Discharge data determined by averaging several ADCP measurement transects have $0.1\%{\~}9.3\%$ of difference with those from velocity-area method, and as the number of measurement increases, the relative difference to the velocity-area method decreases.
LSIV (Large Scale Image Velcocimetry) Is one of the image-based velocity measurement techniques. Since it measures surface velocities, it gives simple and inexpensive way to measure velocity, compared to other methods. Because of these advantages, there have been many studies to apply LSIV to the river discharge measurement in the field. Measuring the discharge by using LSIV requires a method which converts a surface velocity to a mean velocity In the present study, experiments and analysis of vortical velocity profile of open-channel flow in various conditions were performed to develop methods which estimate a mean velocity from a surface velocity. The result of this experiment reveals that velocity-dip phenomena occur at free-surface layer in open channel flow and Froude number affects more than bed roughness does. Two methods for estimating the mean velocity were proposed. One is to correct the wake law's profiles by using the difference of surface velocity from the mean velocity, and the other is to use the ratio of mean and surface velocities. The result of applying these methods in an experiment shows that they are quite accurate having an error of approximately $6\%$ only.
This paper presents the combustion characteristics of hydrocarbon fuel from a conventional pressure-swirl nozzle of a small-scale burner. The nozzle has orifice diameters of 0.256 mm and liquid flow rates ranging from 50 to 64 mL/min were selected for the experiments. The furnace temperature distribution along the axial distance, the gas emission such as CO, $CO_2$, NOx, $SO_2$, flue gas temperature, and combustion efficiency were studied. The local furnace and flue gas temperatures decreased with an increase in air velocity. At injection pressures of 1.1 and 1.3 MPa the maximum furnace temperatures occurred closer to the burner exit, at an axial distance of 242 mm from the diffuser tip. The CO and $CO_2$concentrations decreased with an increase in air velocity, but they increased with an increase in injection pressure. The effect of air velocity on NOx was not clearly seen at low injection pressures, but at injection pressure of 1.3 MPa it decreased with an increase in air velocity. The effect of air velocity on $SO_2$ concentration level is not well understood. The combustion efficiency decreased with an increase in air velocity but it increased with an increase in injection pressure. It is recommended that injection pressure less than 0.9 MPa with air velocity not above 8.0 m/s would be suitable for this burner.

Dynamic stress intensity factors are derives when the crack is propagating with constant velocity under longitudinal shear stress in orthotropic disk plate. General stress fields of crack tip propagating with constant velocity and least square method are used to obtain the dynamic stress intensity factor. The dynamic stress intensity factors of GLV/GTV=1(=isotropic material or transversely isotropic material) which is obtained in out study nearly coincides with Chiang's results when mode Ⅲ stress is applied to boundary of isotropic disk. The D.S.I.F. of mode Ⅲ stress is greater when α(=angle of crack propagation direction with fiber direction) is 90° than that when α is 0°. In case of a/D(a:crack length, D:disk diameter)<0. 58, the faster crack propagation velocity, the less D.S.I.F. but when crack propagation velocity arrive on ghear stress wave velocity, the D.S.I.F. but when crack propagation velocity arrive on shear stress wave velocity, the D.S.I.F. unexpectedly increases and decreases to zero.
