Due to high cost of domestic production structure, steep growth of China's manufacturing business, and increase in oversea's production, building integrated system to support user-centered product design system based on cognitive and affective information is required to restore development of domestic manufacturing business. This paper put purpose on analysing requirements of end users, especially on information equipment business which works as a major industry in manufacturing businesses, and planning system design direction, prior to constructing user-centered product design support system based on cognitive and affective information. Research was conducted to identify current manufacturing process, application data on manufacturing, availability of cognitive and affective information data and its method of use, and necessity of user-centered product design support system based on cognitive and affective information, by carrying out in-depth interview with 6 related manufacturing companies. Need for user's character information was deducted from the interview, especially cognitive and affective information which is demanding for small to medium manufacturing business to research on its own.

This research presents a prototype development and implementation of Decision Support System (DSS) for integrated river basin water management for the flood control. The DSS consists of Relational Database Management System, Hydrologic Data Monitoring System, Spatial Analysis Module, Spatial and Temporal Analysis for Rainfall Event Tool, Flood Forecasting Module, Real-Time Operation of Multi Reservoir System, and Dialog Module with Graphical User Interface and Graphic Display Systems. The developed DSS provides an automated process of alternative evaluation and selection within a flexible, fully integrated, interactive, centered relational database management system in a user-friendly computer environment. The river basin decision-maker for the flood control should expect that she or he could manage the flood events more effectively by fully grasping the hydrologic situation throughout the basin.

A home-based rehabilitation system for patients with uncomfortable hands or arms was developed. By using this system, patients can save time and money of going to the hospital. The system's interface is easy to manipulate. In this paper, we discuss a rehabilitation system using video recognition; the focus is on designing a convenient user interface and rehabilitation training methods. The system consists of two screens: one for recording user's information and the other for training. A first-time user inputs his/her information. The system chooses the training method based on the information and records the training process automatically using video recognition. On the training screen, video clips of the training method and help messages are displayed for the user.

Social welfare has transformed from a provider-centered welfare into a user-centered welfare. This trend have to increase the right to welfare and convenience for users. If the goal of social welfare guaranteed the respecting man's life and dignity, we had not regarded service users as the weak in the welfare system. The reinforcement of service users as the reconfirmation of welfare user's identity, mistreatment and violation of another's rights, self-determination must have the advocacy system. The advocacy for social welfare is the activity for benefit of individual, group, and community, and, protection, guarantee and maintenance of client's right. However, the client is hard to realization of right. therefore We have to support the activity for advocacy. The advocacy take aim the basic need of life and need the system for life support and safeguard client's rights. The mission of the advocacy for welfare service user is to advance the dignity, equality, self-determination, and expressed choices of individuals. We promote, expand, protect and seek to ensure the human and legal rights of individuals through the provision of information and advocacy. The advocacy system will carry out this mission in partnership with welfare service users. The goals for the advocacy system are organized into the following focus areas, which are not listed in order of priority: the majority guardian system and the support activity for service users, a predicament solution activity, service assessment, informed concent system.

This study aims to improve User eXperience (UX) of the diagnostic-supplement learning system for Basic academic skills which has been utilized by teachers nationwide since 2015 in order to provide a consistent and systematic support on students' basic academic skills in K-12 school contexts. To achieve the research objective, usability evaluations such as basic questionnaire about UX/UI of the system according to user types, user testing, in-depth interview, expert heuristics were conducted. In addition, user-centered system was suggested through developing and iteratively evaluating the prototypes based on the user requirements drawn from the findings of such quantitative and qualitative usability evaluations. This study has an implication in suggesting the user-friendly design through the UX/UI improvements of the diagnostic-supplement learning system for Basic academic skills.

Multimedia interpretation describes a high level of ion of multimedia content like interrelations and coherencies. In this paper, we describe a multimedia interpretation component from human-centered perspective. In this context, we see the role of the multimedia interpretation component as a liaison between the psychological apparatuses and computer-based artifact. We emphasize this role of multimedia interpretation by outlining a mapping process of the psychological apparatuses and computer-based artifact. This mapping process needs to be transparent to its user so that effective human-centered systems can be achieved. This transparency will provide an immersive environment for the users and enable uninhibited interaction between the users and the artifact. Furthermore, we illustrate how the multimedia interpretation component can be utilized in the medical diagnosis and treatment support application.

Recently, product design innovation to improve user experience has been perceived as a core element of enterprise competitiveness due to the fierce market competition and decrease of the technological gap between companies, but there is insufficient services to support the product experience evaluation of small and medium-sized companies (SMCs). The aim of this study is to develop a web-based product user experience evaluation and certification system supporting product design practices for SMCs. For system interface design, we conducted systematic functional requirement elicitation methods such as user survey, workflow analysis, user task definition, and function definition. Then main functions, information structure, navigation method, and detailed graphic user interfaces were developed with consideration of user interactions and requirements. In particular, it provides the databases for evaluation efficiency to support the evaluation process above a certain level of performance and efficiency, and knowledge databases to utilize in the evaluation and product design improvement. With help of the developed service platform, It is expected that the service platform would enhance SMCs' product development capability with regard to the user experience evaluation by connecting the consulting firms with SMCs.

The change from people's work-centered values to their leisure-centered values leads into the change in their life styles. In the circumstance, people's participation into sports activities seems to be an important means to improve their quality of life. Along with the change of the times, more people take part in water leisure sports including kayak. As a result, people's needs for various designs of water leisure goods are on the rise. In this sense, it is necessary to come up with strategies to actively respond to such a change. In this paper, we proposed a user decision-making support system for designing kayaks for leisure. Based on the previous studies and literatures and a questionnaire survey with consumers, it chose the sensitivity related to design. By conducting factor analysis and evaluation, it drew sensitivity and proposed kayak design layouts in the aspect of customer sensitivity preference. It is expected that the result of this study will be used not only for kayak design, but as a design guide for the equipment of water leisure sports, and will be applied for user-friendly design.

Expecting the expansion of the elderly population under long-term home care with the coming of the aged society, this study purposed to propose a prevention and self-reliance support model and to get practical implications for minimizing dependency on care benefits and enhancing the effectiveness of prevention and self-reliance support. Research methods employed for this study were: first, reviewing theoretical literature for clarifying the concept of prevention and self-reliance support in providing long-term care benefits for the elderly; second, identifying factors hindering prevention and self-reliance support through analyzing standard long-term care use plans and documents related to long-term care benefits at elderly welfare centers to which the research subjects belonged; and third, surveying care benefit users on factors hindering their use of prevention and self-reliance support and their needs in the use of care benefits. Based on the results of the three types of qualitative research, we proposed directions for prevention and self-reliance support modeling and suggested practical implications for enhancing the effectiveness of prevention and self-reliance support. For this study, we collected documentary materials and conducted in-depth interviews with the participants with the consents and cooperation of managers and professional social workers at day care centers and elderly welfare centers in D City. According to the results of this study, literature review suggested that long-term care prevention and self-reliance support should be provided in a way of 'strengthening user-centered support systems,' which support elderly long-term care beneficiaries' right to lead a life as the subject of their own life. Document analysis found the absence of benefits related to health and medicine and lack of social support systems for prevention and self-reliance support, and the results of in-depth interviews suggested the necessity to strengthen services related to elderly long-term care beneficiaries' prevention and self-reliance, and the keen needs of the long-term care elders for prevention and self-reliance included: ① loneliness, anxiety, fear; ② missing for and worry about children and people; ③ moving, outing; ④ health and medical services, rehabilitation programs; ⑤ desire to use day care; ⑥ inconvenience of house structure; ⑦desire for meal menus; and ⑧ the occurrence of disuse syndrome. Based on these results, we suggested the base of prevention and self-reliance support modeling with three axes: ① strengthening user-centered support systems; ② strengthening support systems connected to health and medicine; and ③ strengthening social support systems.

The IPTV which was commercialized and is being serviced to customers at present has a complicated GUI (Graphical User Interface) to provide two-way services and a remote control containing more than 40 buttons unlike the conventional TV. Accordingly, the remote control becomes one of the causes that make the usability of the IPTV worsen. In this paper, we suggest a LED button guide system as a solution to improve a usability of the IPTV, and analyze the effects of the interface obtained from the user evaluation on the user action.
