Marketing for Real and Virtual Museums: A marketing Model to Explain Visitor Behavior in Real Museums and an Outlook on its Applicability to Virtual Museums

  • The purpose of this study is to obtain more insight into the explanation and prognosis of consumer behavior in real and virtual museums. The analysis focuses on the influence of the museum environment on the museum patrons (rather than on the influence of the art objects). On the basis of the emotional approach to environmental psychology by Mehrabian and Russell (1974), a behavior model has been developed for museums. The model, which is based on the emotional variables pleasure, arousal and dominance (PAD), is also enhanced by cognitive variabies (learning attractiveness, education standard and information demand). The enhancement of the classical model was necessary because cognitive variables play a major role in cultural institutions such as museums: One important objective of museums is the communication of cultural knowledge to visitors. The model is tested empirically using structural equation modeling. 301 visitors were interviewed individually. Two different museum environments were represented using visual stimuli. The theoretical model for museums can be proved empirically. The degree to which the model fits the empirical data was extensively tested. The model showed high compatibility with the data and could be accepted. The study proves that a model can be developed, which explains visitor behavior in museums. The model shows museum designers how museums should be designed to be both emotionally appealing and a learning environment. Based on empirical studies in virtual stores on the Internet, it is discussed whether the research findings in these environments may be applied to virtual museum environments. In order to create an emotionally appealing virtual museum, it is recommended that one uses a 3-dimensional representation to offer various possibilities for interaction and to create a multi-sensual environment that appears highly realistic.

자연사 박물관 전시물의 특성 분석 (Investigation of Exhibit Characteristics at Natural History Museums)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 세계의 유명한 자연사 박물관을 대상으로 관람객의 흥미도를 높이는 데 효과적인 전시 특성과 교육학적인 전시 특성을 알아보는데 있다. 대상이 되는 전시물은 런던에 있는 영국 자연사박물관, 시드니의 호주 박물관, 뉴욕 미국 자연사 박물관, 와싱턴 디시의 스미소니언 박물관이다. 특히 본연구에서 사용한 107개의 전시 표본들은 주로화석, 지구의 역사 그리고 광물과 같은 고체 지구과학교육 내용의 전시에 초점을 맞추었다. 조사를 위해 본 연구는 7개 항목으로 구성된 체크리스트를 완성했는데 각 항목들은 과학관과 자연사 박물관의 전시특성을 다루었던 기존의 문헌을 바탕으로 한 것이다. 또한 교육적인 측면은 Hein(1995)의 연구를 기초로 하였다. 이 연구에서 사용된 107개의 샘플 전시물은 연구자가 직접 방문하여 촬영하고 슬라이드 필름에 보관한 것을 통해 조사를 진행할 수 있었다. 위 4개의 박물관에 대한 조사 결과는 각기 특성있고 긍정적인 결과를 얻었으나 분석을 통해 각 박물관의 다소의 단점도 드러났다.

온라인 콘텐츠를 활용한 미술관 교육 프로그램 사례 분석 -젠킨스의 뉴미디어리터러시로- (Case analysis of educational program of museum using online contents -Focusing on Jenkin's new media literacy-)

  • 본 연구는 온라인 콘텐츠를 활용한 미술관 교육 프로그램의 한계점을 보완하기 위해 온라인 미술관 교육 사례들을 젠킨스의 뉴미디어리터러시 핵심 역량을 토대로 분석하였다. 젠킨스가 제시한 체계적인 미디어 교육의 핵심 역량은 미디어를 활용하여 콘텐츠를 개발해야하는 온라인 미술관의 향후 방향성에 대한 기준점이 될 수 있다. 사례 분석을 위해 국내 미술관으로는 국립현대미술관, 국립중앙박물관, 사비나 미술관, 보름산미술관을 선택했고 국외 미술관으로는 클리블랜드미술관, 메트로폴리탄미술관, 게티미술관, 테이트모던미술관을 선택했다. 젠킨스의 뉴미디어리터러시 핵심 역량에 따라 분석한 결과로 국외 미술관의 경우에는 화상회의, 사이트 페이지 하단의 댓글 달기 등 상호 소통을 위한 콘텐츠를 구성하고 있었지만 국내 온라인 미술관은 이러한 요소가 부족하였기 때문에 커뮤니케이션 콘텐츠를 구성하여 전용, 네트워킹, 협상력, 분산된 인지, 집단지성의 역량을 향상시켜야 할 필요가 있었다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 무섬마을을 무섬별리문학관으로 공간스토리텔링하는 것이다. 지역문학관의 중요성을 인식하고 무섬마을의 장소성 강화를 위해 닫힌 공간의 문학관이 아닌 열린 공간의 무섬별리문학관을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 무섬마을을 분석하고, 그 가치와 의미를 살폈다. 이론적 고찰과 연구 대상의 분석에 따라 무섬별리문학관의 공간을 구성하여, 조지훈과 관련된 이야기로 방문객이 장소감을 느끼고, 장소성으로 이야기를 완성해가는 주체가 되도록 하였다. 이를 위해 연인의 공간, 사유의 공간, 배려의 공간, 치유의 공간으로 구성하고, 사랑, 마을, 밥상, 유희로 공간을 스토리텔링하여 문학콘텐츠와 문학작품 배경인 마을의 공간을 극대화하였다. 이는 지역의 이미지 제고와 브랜드 가치를 높이기에 좋은 자연과 문화, 문학이 융합된 복합문화공간이 될 것이다.

과학관 현장학습 실태조사를 통한 과학 현장학습 활성화 방안 (Science Field Trip Activation Plan through the Survey of Science Museum Field Trip)

  • This study is aimed to offer the elementary school teacher's experience and awareness about science field trip and science museum field trip, by analyzing the survey of 867 students and 81 teachers in Seoul. Research shows 67.9% high figure of elementary school teacher's experience on science field trip. That experience is include 61.8% of science museum using experience. In case of elementary school teacher's pre-activity is only 53.1% and most of them was visiting Website. Post-activity is more than preceding activity(74.1%) but method is too simple like checking work sheets. 62.3% of elementary school students have been to science field trip and science museum that is higher than teachers'. 66.5% of students said science field trip is influence on science study in good ways but there are some difficulties like lack of pre-activity(33.0%) and unkind information about science museum(21.9%). For activation of science field trip, resources development for effective science field trip operating, program development for pre- and post-activity, school group science field trip program development which is linked science curriculum, complement and expand activity information of science field trip institution.

생태 박물관 전시물과의 커뮤니케이션을 강조한 환경교육 프로그램이 영재학생들에게 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Environmental Education Program Focused the Communication on the Exhibits at the Ecological Museum with Gifted Students)

  • In this study, we developed the environmental education program focused on the communication with the exhibits at the ecological museum applicable to the environmental education for gifted students. For this study, we chose 60 gifted students attending U Institute of Education for the gifted, and classified these students into two groups, then applied newly developed program to the 30 experimental group students, and applied general environmental education program to the 30 comparative group students. Below are the study results: First, the environmental education program focused on the communication with the exhibits at the ecological museum was much effective in increasing environmental sensitivity of gifted students as compared to the general environmental education program. Second, the environmental education program focused on the communication with the exhibits at the ecological museum was much more effective in increasing the willingness to environmental act for gifted students as compared to the general environmental education program Third, the satisfaction of the gifted students about the environmental education program focused on the communication with the exhibits at the ecological museum was higher than the general environmental education program.

  • This study traces the flow of modern museum architecture from the 18th to 19th century when the rationalist architectural spirit influenced the museum architecture to the 1930s, before the museums of the modern architectural masters appeared. With early modern museums until the 1930s as a target, which had long been enshrined in classicality, finally contributed to narrowing the gap with the times, but did not receive the right evaluation, this study examines their different architectural styles from previous museums and reveals that they have a significance to announce the departure of modern museums beyond classical ones. The three museums, built in the 1930s, will be identified as respectable early modern museums that will fill the remaining blank space of the history of museum architecture. In this study, modern museums are asymmetric, non-centre oriented, and non decorative. They have multi-directional circulation, and a neutral, open and flexible exhibition space. They also try to align themselves with the modern architectural tendency of the day.

Study on Museum Digital Exhibition Mode and Industrialization of Intangible Cultural Heritage

  • Nowadays, most of exhibits are material antiquities while the exhibit of intangible cultural heritage is deficient and the form is less advanced which cannot meet the exhibition needs of digital times. This has resulted in insufficient display of intangible heritage's value which may not facilitate inherit and protection of intangible heritage, no other than protection mechanism of forming healthy industrialization. This article has established digital exhibition mode in museum about intangible cultural heritage by analysis on current museum and using mobile communication and augmented reality techniques. Discuss the mode in the layer integrating creative industry and mobile industry and provide practicable reference project of forming the healthy industrialization mechanism for protecting intangible heritage.

  • 김해 양동리 고분군 321호묘에서 출토된 종장판갑을 보존처리하고 그 구조에 대해 조사하였다. 종장판갑의 처리는 우레탄 폼에 포장된 판갑을 해체하여 약화된 유물의 재질을 강화하고 원래의 형태를 복원하는데 중점을 두어 진행하였다.

  • What is culture-products? Culture-products contains identity of nation and region. French critic Guy Sorman says "It is natural that buying culture-products when you travel any countries" Culture-products which contains our own cultural factors will give positive image of country. The research and development of grafting grudge experience culture-products was advanced the characteristic of area-culture that necessary is prerequisite. We need to develop culture-products which mixed regional culture and characteristic. We would like to research about Baekje culture and culture-products and sales products in museum. Museum is one of the tourist's attractions and great place to express regional factors. The culture-products are specially limited in the products which reflects a Baekje culture with Muryeong's tomb in Gong-ju and Baekje incense burner in Bu-Yeo it advanced. We hope that this research could help to understand market of culture-products and development.
