Effect of Powder and Aggregates on Compactability of High Performance Concrete

  • This study treated self-compacting high Performance concrete as two Phase materials of Paste and aggregates and examined the effect of powder and aggregates on self-compacting high performance, since fluidity and segregation resistance of fresh concrete are changed mainly by paste. To improve the fluidity and self-compactibility of concrete, optimum powder ratio of self-compacting high performance concrete using fly ash and blast-furnace slag as powders were calculated. This study was also designed to provide basic materials for suitable design of mix proportion by evaluating fluidity and compactibility by various volume ratios of fine aggregates, paste, and aggregates. As a result, the more fly ash was replaced, the more confined water ratio was reduced because of higher fluidity. The smallest confined water ratio was determined when 15% blast-furnace slag was replaced. The lowest confined water ratio was acquired when 20% fly ash and 15% blast-furnace slag were replaced together. The optimum fine aggregates ratio with the best compactibility was the fine aggregate ratio with the lowest percentage of void in mixing coarse aggregate and fine aggregate In mixing the high performance concrete. Self-compacting high performance concrete with desirable compactibility required more than minimum of unit volume weight. If the unit volume weight used was less than the minimum, concrete had seriously reduced compactibility.

빙점강하제 첨가 전해산화수에 의한 깐밤의 저장 중 갈변억제 효과 (Antibrowning Effects of Electrolyzed Oxidizing Water with/without Freezing Point Depressing Agents on Peeled Chestnut during Storage)

  • 다양한 침지 저장액에 의한 깐밤의 갈변억제에 따른 저장 효과를 비교하였다. 총 폴리페놀의 함량은 저장초기에 13.36 mg%로 매우 낮게 나타났으나, 무처리구는 저장 17일까지 59.12 mg%로 증가 후 다시 감소하였다. 전해산화수 처리구는 저장 8일에 61.02 mg%로 갑작스런 증가를 보인 후 감소하였고, 그 외의 처리구에서는 저장 초기에 미세한 변화를 보이다가 저장 11일에 갑작 스럽게 증가하는 경량을 나타내었다. Polyphenol oxidase 활성의 변화는 기질의 증가시기보다 조금 앞서 증가되기 시작하였으며, 무처리구가 저장 11일에 1,152 units로 가장 높은 활성을 나타내었다. 그리고 명반수 처리구가 저장 8일에 1,117 units로 다른 처리구에 비하여 높은 활성을 나타내었다. 4주간 저장하였을 때에는 유자와 레몬과즙 첨가 전해산화수 처리구가 각각 143.3 units와 180.22 units을 나타내어 타 처리구에 비하여 갈변이 억제되는 것으로 나타났다. 색도 및 관능검사를 통하여 저장기간을 예측하며 본 결과, 무처리구의 경우는 14일, 명반수, 전해산화수 및 NaCl을 첨가한 전해산화수의 경우는 21일, 유자와 레몬을 첨가한 전해산화수 처리구는 28일까지도 저장이 가능한 것으로 나타났다.

  • 진공예냉장치에서 상대습도변화 및 냉각온도변화에 따른 야채류의 온도변화에 대하여 고찰한 논문이다. 실험장치는 진공챔버, 이젝트펌프, 냉동기장치, 계측장치 및 냉각수 계통으로 구성되어 있다. 실험결과 야채류의 냉각속도는 야채류의 함수율에 크게 의존하고 있으며, 함수율이 높은 야채가 낮은 야채에 비하여 냉각속도가 증가하는 것을 알 수 있다.

Lightweight Self-consolidating Concrete with Expanded Shale Aggregates: Modelling and Optimization

  • This paper presents statistical models developed to study the influence of key mix design parameters on the properties of lightweight self-consolidating concrete (LWSCC) with expanded shale (ESH) aggregates. Twenty LWSCC mixtures are designed and tested, where responses (properties) are evaluated to analyze influence of mix design parameters and develop the models. Such responses included slump flow diameter, V-funnel flow time, J-ring flow diameter, J-ring height difference, L-box ratio, filling capacity, sieve segregation, unit weight and compressive strength. The developed models are valid for mixes with 0.30-0.40 water-to-binder ratio, high range water reducing admixture of 0.3-1.2 % (by total content of binder) and total binder content of $410-550kg/m^3$. The models are able to identify the influential mix design parameters and their interactions which can be useful to reduce the test protocol needed for proportioning of LWSCCs. Three industrial class ESH-LWSCC mixtures are developed using statistical models and their performance is validated through test results with good agreement. The developed ESH-LWSCC mixtures are able to satisfy the European EFNARC criteria for self-consolidating concrete.

A comprehensive laboratory compaction study: Geophysical assessment

  • This study characterizes Proctor and geophysical properties in a broad range of grading and fines contents. The results show that soil index properties such as uniformity and fines plasticity control the optimum water content and peak dry unit trends, as well as elastic wave velocity. The capillary pressure at a degree of saturation less than S = 20% plays a critical role in determining the shear wave velocity for poorly graded sandy soils. The reduction in electrical resistivity with a higher water content becomes pronounced as the water phase is connected A parallel set of compaction and geophysical properties of sand-kaolinite mixtures reveal that the threshold boundaries computed from soil index properties adequately capture the transitions from sand-controlled to kaolinite-controlled behavior. In the transitional fines fraction zone between FF ≈ 20 and 40%, either sand or kaolinite or both sand and kaolinite could dominate the geophysical properties and all other properties associated with soil compaction behavior. Overall, the compaction and geophysical data gathered in this study can be used to gain a first-order approximation of the degree of compaction in the field and produce degree of compaction maps as a function of water content and fines fraction.

백삼 알코올 추출박을 이용한 산성다당체 다량 함유 백삼 농축액 제조 (Preparation of Ginseng Concentrate with High Content of Acidic Polysaccharide from White Tail Ginseng Marc)

  • 50% 에탄올 추출박으로부터 기존의 백삼농축액보다 산성다당체가 다량 함유된 백삼 농축액 제조 방법에 대해서 연구하였다. 50% 에탄올을 사용하여 제조한 백삼농축액의 추출 수율과 산성다당체 함량은 에탄올의 농도가 증가할수록 감소하였다. 반면에 백삼을 0∼90% 에탄올로 추출하고 남은 백삼박 내의 산성다당체 함량은 에탄올 농도가 증가할수록 증가하였다. 백삼박으로부터 산성다당체를 얻을 수 있는 최적의 조건은 $\alpha$-amylase를 390∼650 unit/g residue/15 mL 증류수의 농도로 4$0^{\circ}C$에서 5분 동안 처리하는 것으로 확인되었다. 50% 에탄을 추출 후 남은 백삼박에 $\alpha$-amylase를 처리함으로써 백삼박의 물추출액 중의 산성다당체 함량은 무처리구의 8.3%에서 10.5%로 증가하였다. 기존의 50% 에탄올 백삼추출농축액과 본 실험을 통하여 얻어진 백삼박 추출액을 8:2(w/w)로 혼합한 새로운 흔합백삼농축액을 제조한 결과 기존의 인삼농축액에 비해 조사포닌 함량은 비슷하며 약2배 정도의 산성다당체를 함유하고 색도가 짙은 농축액을 제조할 수 있었다.

Evaluation of the Combination of Methylprednisolone and Tranilast after Spinal Cord Injury in Rat Models

  • Objective : The aim of our study was to evaluate the neuroprotective functions of the combination therapy using methylprednisolone (MP) and tranilast (TR) after spinal cord injury (SCI) in adult rats. Methods : Spinal cord compression injury model was achieved using Yasargil aneurysm clip. Rats were divided into control group, MP group, TR group, and combination therapy group using TR and MP. Rat models were assessed for locomotor functional recovery using Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan (BBB) score, spinal cord water content and myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity 24 hours post SCI, haematoxylin and eosin staining and glial fibrillary acid protein (GFAP) staining at 7 and 14 days post SCI. Results : The spinal cord water content and MPO activity in the combination therapy group was significantly lower than the control group and the individual therapy groups p<0.05. The combination therapy group had significantly higher BBB scores than control group and individual therapy groups (p<0.05). At one week after SCI, GFAP expression in the combination group was significantly lower than the control group (p<0.05) but there was no significant difference compared to the individual therapy groups (p>0.05). At 2 weeks after SCI there was a slight decrease in GFAP expression compared to the first week but the difference was not statistically significant (p>0.05), GFAP expression between the groups was not statistically significant p>0.05. Conclusion : Combining MP and TR is therapeutically more effective in improving functional recovery, inhibiting inflammation and glial scar formation after acute SCI.

폐활성탄을 혼입한 콘크리트의 물리.역학적 성질 (Physical and Mechanical Properties of Concrete Using Waste Activated Carbon)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the physical and mechanical properties of concrete using waste activated carbon. Materials used were ordinary portlant cement, crushed coarse aggregate, natural fine aggregate, waste activated carbon, and superplasticizer. The substitution ratios of waste activated carbon were 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10%. The unit weight was decreased and water absorption ratio was increased with increasing the waste activated carbon content, respectively. When the substitution ratio of waste activated carbon was 3%, compressive strength, flexural strength and dynamic modulus of elastisity were more higher than that of the ordinary portland cement (OPC), and it was decreased with increasing the waste activated carbon content, respectively. The most effective contents of waste activated carbon was 2% in performance and 4% in practical use Accordingly, waste activated carbon can be used for concrete material.

라텍스개질 콘크리트의(LMC)의 강도특성 및 배합인자 결정방법 (Strength Properties and Determination Method of Mix Proportion Factor of Latex Modified Concrete)

  • This study are decided the mix proportion method of latex modified concrete for agricultural concrete structures from the results of workability and strength test with mix proportion factor. For mix proportion factor, this study are selected the water-cement ratio, unit cement amount and latex content. Also, this study were performed the slump, compressive strength test and microstructure analysis using the scanning electron microscope(SEM). The strength and slump of LMC are dependent with unit cement amount, latex content, and water-cement ratio. Especially, the strength of LMC are not controlled by single mix proportion factor but effected by combined mix proportion factor. Microstructure investigation are showed the LMC are reduced the internal pore volume and enhanced the transition zone between cement paste and aggregate interface. This effect get by consist of latex films in the concrete. Also, this study were recommended the mix proportion method for LMC. These mix proportions method are estimated the mix design for satisfied the target performance which are applied the agricultural concrete structure.

준설매립토의 건조수축에 따른 강도증가 예측과 장비투입시기 결정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of Increased Strength due to Desiccation Shrinkage and Determination of Deposit Time for Equipments in Dredged Fills)

  • In the present study, the variation of settlement, pore water pressure and undrained shear strength through model tests were measured. Also, the variation of water content, unit weight and shear strength by the vane shear tests were observed. In this study, appropriate deposit time of construction equipments used in treatment of hydraulic fills is determined from the prediction curve of increased shear strength in dredged fills.
