The effects of crude extract and bioactive fractions from Brachyglottis monroi on biological activity were investigated. The crude ethanol extract inhibited the growth of the Gram positive bacterium Bacillus subtilis (ATCC Strain number 19659, 1 mm zone at 150 μg/disk) and the dermatophyte Trichophyton mentagrophytes (ATCC 28185, 2 mm zone at 150 μg/disk), and toxic to P388 tumor cells (IC50 23.96 μg/ml at 75 μg/disk). Cytotoxic activity was strongly showed by Fr. 6 (P388 IC50 19.67 μg/ml at 75 μg/disk).

Self-contained portable remote-indicating magnetic compass was designed and tested. Its sensing part consists of main scale disk of rotary encoder with photo-etched 180, oopaque slits and three pairs of light sources and detectors seperated by a transparent index scale, so that any angular deflection of main scale disk against the bowl may be detected optically. The outputs from the sensing part are transformed into digital ship's course indication by electronics unit which consists of operational amplifier, phase discriminator, up-down counter and counting starter circuit. The results from testign the above compass with turntable at variable rate of turn are as following : 1) The main scale disk deflection against the bowl can be detected without any disturbing influence to the freedom of its north-seeking function. 2) The digital indication resolution is found to be $\circ \pm$1 degree. 3) Misrepresenting indication can be avoided by ensuring dimension uniformity and arrangement accuracy of slits on main and index scale disks and by centering pivot in the encoder disk. 4) Indication resolution should be improved by modifying the signal processing and by doubling the number of slits on compass card. 5) Further study should be made on developing non-conductive compass liquid, analogue repeater driving system and more compact processing element.

Flash memory has several features such as low~power consumption and fast access so that there has been various research on using flash memory as new storage. Especially the Solid State Disk which is composed of flash memory chips has recently replaced the hard disk. At present, SSD adopts the multi-channel and multi-way architecture to exploit advantages of parallel access. In this architecture, data are written on SSD in a unit of a superblock which is composed of multiple blocks in which some blocks are put together. This paper proposes two schemes of selecting, segmenting and re-composing victim superblocks to optimize concurrent processing when a buffer flush occurs. The experimental results show that 35% of superblock- based write operations is reduced by selecting victims and additional 9% by composition of superblock.

We investigate conditions under which a holomorphic self-map of the unit disk induces a bounded composition operator and study some properties of the composition operator from the Bloch-type spaces into a generalization of the Bloch-type spaces.

We define and investigate a subclass of complex valued harmonic convex functions that are univalent and sense preserving in the open unit disk. We obtain coefficient conditions, extreme points, distortion bounds, convolution conditions for the above family of harmonic functions.

Recently S. Axler proved that every sequence in the unit disk U converging to the boundary contains an interpolating subsequence for the multipliers of the Dirichlet space D(U). In this paper we generalizes Axler's result to the finitely connected planer domains such that the Dirichlet spaces are contained in the Bergman spaces.

Making use of a linear operator, we introduce certain subclass of meromorphically univalent functions in the punctured unit disk and study its properties including some inclusion results, coefficient and distortion problems. Our result generalize many results known in the literature.

Linear invariance is closely related to the concept of uniform local univalence. We give a geometric proof that a holomorphic locally univalent function defined on the open unit disk is linearly invariant if and only if it is uniformly locally univalent.
