The purpose of this study is to analyze Kapa, the traditional bark cloth of Hawaii, including materials, method of manufacture, and colors and patterns, and to show the characteristics of Kapa to identify traditional culture of Hawaii as well as the unique culture of cloth of Hawaii in tropical area. The method of study is qualitative research using documentary records about Kapa. The cultivated Wauke proved to be the best material for bark cloth in Hawaii. The manufacture of Kapa was made by beating divided into two stages. The dyes for coloring were very different due to the existence of various plants. Indigenous Hawaiians showed the unique textures like grooving and watermarks, and the various designs in their Kapa. The characteristics of Hawaiian Kapa appear the symbol of some colors, the preference of geometrical patterns, the various uses of Kapa, and perfumed Kapa. Through these characteristics of Hawaiian Kapa, the traditional culture of indigenous Hawaiian can be understood very well. This study will help people understand indigenous bark cloth of tropical areas including Hawaii.

The unique nano-scale inter-lamellar microstructure and unparalleled heat treatment process give our developed metal powder composite its outstanding magnetic property for power inductor & motor applications. Compared to the conventional polycrystalline Fe or amorphous Fe-Cr-Si-B alloys, our unique designed inter-lamellar microstructure strongly decreases the intra-particle eddy current loss at high frequencies by blocking the mutual eddy currents. The combination of optimum permeability, magnetic flux and extremely low core loss makes this powder composite suitable for high frequency applications well above 10 MHz. Moreover, it can be also possible to SMC core for high speed motor applications in order to increase the motor efficiency by decreasing the core loss.

An innovative safety concept for a light water reactor has been developed at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. It is a unique concept that adopts both a fast heat transfer mechanism for a small containment and a changing mechanism of the cooling geometry to take advantage of the potential, thermal, and dynamic energies of the cold water in the containment. It can bring about rapid cooling of the containment and long-term cooling of the decay heat. By virtue of this innovative concept, nuclear fuel damage events can be prevented. The ultimate heat transfer mechanism contributes to minimization of the heat exchanger size and containment volume. A small containment can ensure the underground construction, which can use river or seawater as an ultimate heat sink. The changing mechanism of the cooling geometry simplifies several safety systems and unifies diverse functions. Simplicity of the present safety system does not require any operator actions during events or accidents. Therefore, the unique safety concept of PX can realize both economic competitiveness and inherent safety.

The role of fabric now directly related with the expression of the beauty of clothing and it provides new and creative ideas. This study was aimed at reviewing basic data that can be used in systematic design development through fabric expression for today's fashion designers who must study unique, original fashion design development. For systematic development of design technique through fabric expression, fabric expression methods and characteristics, aesthetic characteristics and fabric design of 'art to wear' were reviewed and the results are as follows. First, the highly wrought fabric expression of art to wear was confirmed to be comprehending a message within itself. Second, aesthetic characteristics of fabric expression used in art to wear can be classified as decorativeness, extensity, 2-D pictorialness, handicraft, compounding and rearrangement, and 3-D characteristics. Third, the 6 aesthetic characteristics have unique design features and aesthetic categories. The understanding the fabric expression techniques through study on the classification of the fabric expression in 'art to wear' is expected to be extended to proposition of creative direction and inspiration of modern fashion.

This study is on the characteristics of discriminating of image using unique electric wave intensity value from satellite images data. Namely this study is on studying specific image characteristics by image spectrum and is on developing procedures discriminating of water, forest. narrow-leaved(coniferous) trees, broad-leaved(deciduous) trees, terrain, farmland, grassland, etc. using unique spectrum value in material. Finally applying this procedures, we design and implement discriminating system, IDEA(Information Discriminating Extracting Agent).

At present, the Korean electricity industry is undergoing restructuring and the CBP market is being operated preparing for TWBP market open. As the circumstance of the traditional system is changed according to power system deregulation the unique market simulator is needed to analyze and study an electricity market. In this paper, we implement the main two modules of unique market simulator(PEXSIM) and introduce the characteristics of PEXSIM focused on the M-SIM and P-SIM.

Wharton Esherick (1887-1970) is the pioneer of the Studio Furniture movement which was emerging after the Second World War in the United States. As Esherick began to work on his studio at Paoli, Pennsylvania from 1926, he became enormously influential in the Stuido Furniture movement until his death in 1972. He was connecting the English Arts and Crafts ideal to the post-war craft revival. As the work of William Morris did, in the period of consumerism Esherick's furniture gave a chance to purchase unique furniture to people who wanted a different taste. Not only his furniture is unique and hand-crafted also has sculptural quality which made his followers to see furniture as a different possibilities. His work was influential to the people who followed him after the war such as Arthur Carpenter, Wendell Castle, and Sam Maloof. In the roots of the craft revival, it is hard to underestimate the contribution of Esherick's notion of sculptural furniture.

Purpose : Ando Tadao has his own unique architectural conception to reproduce natural view on site, and he continues to create new architecture without regarding to any principles. Ando Tadao experiments his imagination through the museum architecture, starts organization of space with light, and completes organization of space with light at once. Methods : The research works as follows: 1) Analyzes the meaningful characteristics showed in his architectural works. 2) Analyze organization of space and use of light in museums designed by Ando Tadao. 3) Selecte his representative museums in Korea and Japan, and then analyze space composition and light use through literature study and field survey. Result : The organization of museum space by Ando Tadao has a close relationship with the light. Light designed by Ando Tadao represents unique architectural varieties such as cushioning space, moving line, spatial characterization, and natural influx.
