A three-week old female Chihuahua dog weighing 80 g was presented with the absence of skull palpation, suckling disability, and growth retardation. Physical examination revealed asymmetry of the lips slanting to the left side when feeding milk. Also there were head tilt to the left side and corneal ulcer of the left eye. The absence of the frontal and parietal bones were shown on radiographs. Lateral ventricular enlargement was identified on the ultrasonographic examination. On computed tomographs, frontal and parietal bone defect, ventricle enlargement, and intracranial arachnoid cyst were observed. The dog was dead after 1 day of presentation. The dog was diagnosed as the primary acalvaria by necropsy.
A vaginal speculum examination of a 17-month-old Holstein heifer with a history of repeated artificial insemination (AI) failures via the cranial vagina revealed the presence of an intact hymen (imperforate hymen) beyond the external urethral orifice, which resembled the vaginal wall. An ultrasonographic examination detected hypoechoic fluid within the vaginal cavity between the intact hymen and the cervix, indicating the presence of hydrocolpos. After sedation and epidural anesthesia, the intact hymen was incised using a scalpel and scissors and removed, while the incised portions were sutured using a simple interrupted method. The heifer became pregnant after three consecutive estruses with the intervals of approximately 20 days and concomitant AIs. The heifer gave birth to a healthy male calf with no complications after a 291-day gestation period. This case reports the presence of an imperforate hymen with hydrocolpos in a Holstein heifer, followed by successful insemination, conception and delivery after removal of the imperforate hymen.
A 3-month-old male Maltese dog was presented with generalized trembling, ataxia, and seizure. The patient had traumatic injury on history takings. Physical examination revealed dome shaped craniumwith open fontanelle, nasal hemorrhage, and blepharoedema with hemorhage on the left side. On serumbiochemical profiles, creatine phosphokinase was severely elevated. There was no remarkable findingon radiography. Ultrasound images of brain were obtained via a persistence bregmatic fontanelle, andbilateraly dilated lateral ventricles with a hyperechoic mass on the left temporal lobe were detected.Based on clinical signs, history, physical examination, laboratory findings, and ultrasonographic findings,we suspected this intracranial mass to intracerebral hematoma induced by head trauma. Methylprednisoloneh after initial diagnosis. We performed necropsy and confirmed intracerebral hematoma. This case reportdescribes the identification of intracerebral hematoma using ultrasonography.

Background: To determine the prevalence of rotator cuff diseases in a population older than 40 years in or nearby Chuncheon city, Republic of Korea. Methods: Sixty shoulders of 30 people older than 40 years who participated in a health lecture were examined for free by an orthopedic surgeon. Visual analog scale of pain and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons scores were assigned, and routine physical examination was performed. Ultrasonography was performed on the shoulder. Results: On ultrasonographic examination, there were one shoulder with full thickness rotator cuff tear, 20 of 60 (33%) with partial thickness rotator cuff tear, five of 60 (8%) with calcific tendinitis, one of 60 (2%) with tear of the long head of the biceps, and five of 60 (8%) with tendinitis of the long head of the biceps. Participants older than 60 years showed significantly high proportions of lesion of the long head of the biceps and rotator cuff diseases (P=0.019 and P=0.015, respectively). Participants who performed physical labor had high proportions of rotator cuff tear and rotator cuff disease (P=0.001 and P<0.001, respectively). Conclusions: Rotator cuff diseases showed a high prevalence in aged persons and resulted in a decrease in shoulder function.
Purpose: The focal ossification of auricular cartilage is an unusual clinical entity in which the ear becomes partially or totally rigid and immalleable. This condition may result from cold injury, local trauma, inflammation, or various systemic diseases. Patients may feel mild discomfort, but there are usually no other serious symptoms. We present a case of focal ossification of auricular cartilage in which the cause is unknown. Methods: A healthy 58-year-old man presented with a 2-year history of hard mass of right posterior auricular area. He denied any precipitating historical events like cold injury and inflammation. Routine testing did not demonstrate systemic abnormalities. Ultrasonographic examination revealed a $22{\times}10{\times}11mm$ sized heterogenous isoechoic mass showing an acoustic shadow. Results: Excisional biopsy was performed under local anesthesia. Histological examination revealed the ossification with deposition of trabecular bone in normal elastic cartilage. The patient was healed without any problems and satisfied with the result. Conclusion: We report clinical experience of focal ossification of auricular cartilage, which is quite a rare clinical entity. It should be considered that there is the possibility of ossification of cartilage when it meets the benign mass of the ear.

Median artery of the forearm and wrist is not very frequently observed because it normally involutes before birth. Persistent median artery of the carpal tunnel is not frequently observed in adult life. We report a case of persistent median artery in the carpal tunnel that was examed by ultrasonography.
This study was performed to describe the radiographic and ultrasonographic features of retained surgical gauze known as gossypiboma in 9 dogs. Female dogs (n = 8) were at higher risk and seven out of the eight cases had a history of ovariohysterectomy. Seven dogs were symptomatic and the most common clinical signs were vomiting, anorexia, and inertia. A palpable abdominal mass was detected in six dogs. Radiographic signs included a localized abdominal mass with soft tissue density (n = 7) or a mass containing speckled gas (n = 1). Ultrasonography showed a hypoechoic mass with a hyperechoic center (n = 4), or a homogeneous hypoechoic mass (n = 3). The remaining dogs (n = 2) showed an intestinal wall surrounding a hyperechoic center. Regardless of the characteristics of a mass, an acoustic shadowing was accompanied from the center of a mass in all dogs. Ultrasonography also revealed complications such as adhesion between a mass and adjacent organs, and peritonitis and intestinal obstruction around a mass. The gossypiboma can be considered when a hypoechoic mass accompanying a hyperechoic center with acoustic shadowing is observed on ultrasound examination.
The ultrasonographic examination with vaginal probe(5MHz) was undertaken in 101 patients at infertility clinic of Eul-Ji General Hospital. This study was performed to evaluate the number of mature follicles per menstrual cycle, the relationship of both ovaries for consecutive ovulatory cycle and the responsiveness of follicular growth followed by administration of ovulation inductant. The results were as follows; 1. The ovulation induction group with clomiphene citrate showed more follicles than natural menstrual cycle group. 2. Each means of numbers of follicles between ovaries showed no difference between natural and ovulatory induction groups. 3. The rate of follicular growth per one menstrual cycle showed higher in the clomiphene citrate induced cycle group. 4. Clomiphene citrate induced group tends to be easier for multiple follicular growth but had no significant difference in statistics. 5. The ipsilateral Vs. contralateral follicular growth rate for consecutive menstrual cycles in both ovaries showed no significant difference between two groups.

Warthin's tumor is a benign neoplasm that most frequently occurs in the parotid gland. Warthin's tumor shows a tendency of bilateral occurrence, but most of bilateral tumors occur at different time. It usually affects older man and grows slowly. Surgical excision is appropriate treatment for patients with Warthin's tumor and rarely recurs after removal. We report a rare case of bilateral Warthin's tumor which detected at the same time. A 54-year-old man had painless, slowly growing masses on the both mandibular angles. The masses were detected ten years ago. CT scan, ultrasonographic evaluation and fine needle biopsy was performed for preoperative diagnostic study. Superficial parotidectomy was done one after the other at ten-day intervals. After excision, histological examination revealed a mixture of ductal epithelium and a lymphoid stroma. The overlying surface of lymphoid tissue was covered with epithelial cells that was abundant of eosinophilic cytoplasm. Both masses were diagnosed as Warthin's tumor. Postoperatively, the patient did well and had no evidence of recurrence of tumor for 2 years follow-up period. Authors experienced a rare case of bilateral Warthin's tumor which detected at the same time. We recommend stepwise superficial parotidectomy at one or two-week intervals as treatment of bilateral Warthin's tumor.

A 5-year-old Pekingese bitch was presented with a history of vaginal bleeding and copulation before 4-week. Ovarian remnant syndrome was diagnosed on the clinical changes, vaginal cytology and exploratory laparotomy. An abdominal mass was diagnosed on radiography, ultrasonography and Computed Tomography. The remnant of ovarian tissue and an abdominal mass were removed surgically under general anesthesia. Ultrasonographic examination of the removed ovarian tissue (water bath scanning) revealed three corpora lutea. The condition resolved following surgical excision of the remaining ovarian tissue and an abdominal purulent mass.
