  • In this study, the 3- dimensional (3-D) learning contents are suggested using 'Augmented Reality' instead of existing 2-dimensional (2-D) learning methods. At the present, there are some 2-D learning methods using texts, image, pictures, and videos called e-learning. However, these one-way 2-D methods have some disadvantages such as declining learner's immersion and concentration. Thus, the 3-D learning contents using 'Augmented Reality' are suggested to compensate the disadvantages. According to the development of information technology (IT), the augmented reality has many applications to the era of ubiquitous. However, there are some disadvantages when learners use these contents as following; non-augmenting by partially hiding from makers and declining concentration by patterns of the makers. In this study, the beneficial marker which can solve this non-augmenting phenomenon is suggested.

  • In this paper, the required frequency bandwidth for short range communications and mobile communication networks is analyzed for the matured Personal Environment Service, which establishes intelligent personal living environment with connecting the mobile phone and living appliances to WPAN, mobile communication networks, and Internet. In spite of rough estimation of the service needs, this paper shows the calculation method of required frequency bandwidth for the service and the considerations for the Ubiquitous era in advance.

  • Recently, Korean high school students eagerly utilize the educational contents via personal computers and ubiquitous equipments like PMP. We investigated the utilization status while in high school of one class students of M university located in Daejeon area. About 30% of students used PMP and whole students used personal computer to take educational contents. Almost all of the students paid less than 200,000 won for the contents while in their high school. Most popular sites were EBS and Megastudy.

  • This thesis is the research for methods to forecast of dynamic changes at retail stores in the ubiquitous era, and, through adopting RFID based technology, to minimize cost of operation of stores and bringing up better customer service. The core methods had been researched and studied are to build future-oriented stores by providing store system with better customer's convenience based on referring to case studies of future-oriented stores and efficient inventory management method enabling more profitable store, and adopting Smart Carts, Smart Shelf and e-POP and environment sensors as a method in order to provide more improved customer service.

  • Recently, the development of sensor devices has accelerated researches on advanced technologies like Wireless Sensor Networks. Moreover, spatial sensors using GPS lead to the era of the Ubiquitous Computing Environment which generally uses spatial information and non-spatial information together. In this new era, a real-time processing system for spatial sensor data is essential. In this reason, new data processing systems called DSMS(Data Stream Management System) are being developed by many researchers. However, since most of them do not support geometry types and spatial functions to process spatial sensor data, they are not suitable for the Ubiquitous Computing Environment. For these reasons, in this paper, we designed and implemented a spatial DSMS by extending STREAM which stands for STanford stREam datA Manager, to solve these problems. We added geometry types and spatial functions to STREAM in order to process spatial sensor data efficiently. In addition, we implemented a Spatial Object Manager to manage shared spatial objects within the system. Especially, we implemented the Simple Features Specification for SQL of OGC for interoperability and applied algorithms in GEOS to our system.

  • IT technologies applied in the urban places are being promoted in each area. Especially infrastructure is performed in the central role of technical support in urban area. However, u-City infrastructure has lack of integrated way and concentrated on only feasible technology which cause frequent substitution and the nested technology in urban area. Therefore this study sheds light on infrastructure through a overall considerations of urban compositional elements and interactions, and apply technology in the process of the industrial era, the domestic supply of urban infrastructure and the cycle comparison-analysis deal with the domestic implications when applied. The results of the study, first, the u-City infrastructure should be supplied by public. Second, u-City infrastructure is in need of the agile character, and standardization of the subtleties is needed. Third, a new system of integrated-macroscopic perspective should be established by changes that influenced by convergences of IT technologies and infrastructures. Fourth, u-City infrastructures planning should consider interactions of services, devices and systems.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study building and maintaining consumer trust in mobile contents for tourism and travel in perspective of public sector. Mobile contents services are increasing rapidly. Tourism contents in mobile services are non profit business model in an early and immature stage toward the ubiquitous era. Non-profit organization plays a role as service provider through Internet and wireless telecommunication in an information-intensive and network-oriented environment. This article is proposed nonprofit organizations as tourism contents service provider to identify a conceptual framework that can build continuous trusted mobile contents under ubiquitous environment according to developing and maintaining stage. The results based on the focus group interview methodology highlights a conceptual foundation for service providers in nonprofit domain.

  • Ubiquitous computing environment, as a new paradigm of the digital information era, has been introduced to respond to rapid changes in society and culture. Today, technology research around the world competes for the preoccupancy of the core technology as well as the development of technology for providing context aware system more intelligent, more sophisticated. Research in recent is underway the implementation of intelligent provisioning system using the ontology. Erstwhile provisioning system did not providing a personalized service that provides the service after context aware. Accordingly, there is a need for studies of intelligent context aware provisioning technique considering environments and context necessary to user. In this paper, in order to provide a service that is optimized for the needs of the user, propose an ontology-based intelligent provisioning service method taking into account the usage patterns and the context of the user. The proposed system is recognized the status of the user and demonstrated a process of reasoning techniques for fit service. And it is possible to the expansion of intelligence.

  • Recently, with the advance of Ubiquitous era, the types of services become diverse. Especially, due to the rapid development of mobile technology, the new functions of mobile phones are added and the new applications of mobile phones are developed actively. Among the various applications related to mobile phones, 2 dimensional barcode-based applications are increasing. 2 dimensional barcode is mostly used for the management of past record. However, by combing 2 dimensional barcode with mobile phones, the application areas of 2 dimensional barcode are expanded to the means of publicity for education, tourism, and festivals. In this paper, we develop a QR code decoder running on smartphones, which connects on-line and off-line. In addition, we modify our decoder by detecting the point for performance enhancement based on TRIZ. We compare our decoder with an open-source based decoder in terms of the code size of decoding and the speed of decoding in order to prove that our decoder has a better performance than the other. Finally, we introduce two applications: u-map and u-pamphlet as QR code applications.

  • The core technique of ubiquitous computing is the context aware computing and the context aware technique is more like software so the important research work is to develop the core engines first and the adapted device for the engines. When ubiquitous computing era comes, the current existing internet shopping mall, the form of searching the direct goods and ordering the goods by the customers evolves and develops the form of system that recommends the goods by the search engine which combined with the input data and technique of case based reasoning and intelligent agent that is based on the context aware technique. In this paper, search engine which is based on the case based reasoning and intelligent agent is designed and the prototype is implemented to be adapted to the internet fashion expert shopping mall.
