  • This study is aimed at the application of the apparel size system to be applied for the Internet shopping mall in Korea. Especially this is focused on the presumption of the body measurement according to the age groups and the figure groups. In this regard, a sizing system is to be developed that could be used to approach consumers more easily and provide more fitness and accuracy in terms of size. The target study was on a group of women nineteen to forty-nine years of age. The 4th National Anthropometry Survey data were used in the examination. The results in the study are as follows ; (1) On the Internet apparel shopping malls in relation with this study, no matter what size in the ready-to-wear enterprises was selected by the consumers who once put their information in the member registration, the most appropriate sizes for them are automatically given and transferred to the order forms of chosen enterprises with aid of internal programs of the internet webpage. In addition, when consumers enter their body sizes in the units that are familiar to them, such as inches or centimeters, the units are automatically programed so that they can be converted for the sake of convenience. ; (2) To extract an estimation equation of body size through Multiple Regression Analysis, the circumferences of chest and hip could be presumed by stature, weight, and waist circumference of which most consumers were well aware. For more accurate regression equations, groupings were made in the three categories of age(19∼29/30∼39/40∼49) and in the three body types(Type N, A and H). Then, the regression equations were established for three sectors, $\circled1$ 'chest circumference not filled up', $\circled2$ 'hip circumference not filled up' and $\circled3$ 'neither filled up for chest nor for hip circumference'.     • Recently, environment problems have effects on the electronic equipments. Security problems are presented. For security reasons, it is necessary to study electronic equipments. In this paper, we handle the Elasticity modulus on the polymer insulator by UV irradiation. The types of material are used in this experiment, is the EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer). For increasing the reliability, real material specimens are used. For this study, we used ESPI (Electronic speckle pattern interferometry), UTM (Universal thesting machine) device, Accelerated weathering tester. Through this measurement, we evaluated how much UV irradiation has effect on polymer insulator and how long does it take to change the polymer insulator. Also this paper will give a help in electronic industry and the method of measuring the insulator elasticity modulus of polymer could be utilized in life estimation and replacement time of the products of electronic equipment that is used in real industrial fields.

    Road Noise Estimation Based on Transfer Path Analysis Using a Simplified Tire Vibration Transfer Model (단순화된 타이어 진동전달 모델의 전달경로분석법을 이용한 로드노이즈 예측기술 개발)

    • Quantification of road noise is a challenging issue in the development of tire noise since its transfer paths are complicated. In this paper, a simplified model to estimate the road noise is developed. Transfer path of the model is from wheel to interior. The method uses the wheel excitation force estimated throughout inverse method. In inversion procedure, the Tikhonov regularization method is used to reduce the inversion error. To estimate the wheel excitation force, the vibration of knuckle is measured and transfer function between knuckle and wheel center is also measured. The wheel excitation force is estimated by using the measured knuckle vibration and the inversed transfer function. Finally interior noise due to wheel force is estimated by multiplying wheel excitation force in the vibro-acoustic transfer function. This vibro-acoustic transfer function is obtained throughout measurement. The proposed method is validated by using cleat excitation method. Finally, it is applied to the estimation of interior noise of the vehicle with different types of tires during driving test.

    • The conventional methods used to evaluate battery state-of-charge (SOC) cannot accommodate the chemistry nonlinearities, measurement inaccuracies and parameter perturbations involved in estimation systems. In this paper, an impedance-based equivalent circuit model has been constructed with respect to a LiFePO4 battery by approximating the electrochemical impedance spectrum (EIS) with RC circuits. The efficiencies of approximating the EIS with RC networks in different series-parallel forms are first discussed. Additionally, the typical hysteresis characteristic is modeled through an empirical approach. Subsequently, a methodology incorporating an H-infinity observer designated for open-circuit voltage (OCV) observation and a hysteresis model developed for OCV-SOC mapping is proposed. Thereafter, evaluation experiments under FUDS and UDDS test cycles are undertaken with varying temperatures and different current-sense bias. Experimental comparisons, in comparison with the EKF based method, indicate that the proposed SOC estimator is more effective and robust. Moreover, test results on a group of Li-ion batteries, from different manufacturers and of different chemistries, show that the proposed method has high generalization capability for all the three types of Li-ion batteries.

    • The improvement in computing systems and sensor technologies devotes to conduct data-driven structural health monitoring algorithms for existing civil infrastructures. Despite of the development of techniques, the uncertainty oriented from the measurement results in the discrepancy to the actual structural parameters and let engineers or decision makers hesitate to adopt such techniques. Many studies have shown that the modal identification results can be affected by the uncertainties due to the applied methods and the types of loading. This paper aims to compare the performance of modal identification methods using Structural Modal Identification Toolsuite (SMIT) which has been developed to facilitate multiple identification methods with a user-friendly designed platform. The data fed into SMIT processes three stages for the comprehensive identification including preprocessing, eigenvalue estimation, and post-processing. The seismic and white noise response for shear frame model was obtained from numerical simulation. The identified modal parameters is compared to the actual modal parameters. In order to improve the quality of coherence in identified modal parameters, several hurdles including modal phase collinearity and extended modal amplitude coherence were introduced. Numerical simulation conducted on the 5 dof shear frame model were used to validate the effectiveness of using these parameters.

    • Installing noise barriers is the most common method for reducing the highway traffic noise to the road side residential area. After the report about edge potential concept of a noise barrier, various types of noise reducing devices(NRDs) called "noise reducers" have been suggested for getting more shielding effect on the top of highway noise barriers. But, it has been doubtful about effect of the NRDs in field because there was no appropriate and unified method to estimate the acoustic performance by using field measurement of the NRDs in Korea. In this study, the authors have considered to setup a practical method to test and estimate the acoustic performance of NRDs. For eliminating the noise reduction effect of the NRDs height itself, the source and measuring points are adjusted as highly as the NRDs height. For the frequency weighting in the estimation of the NRDs effect, the highway noise spectra were measured at asphalt and concrete road side and then averaged for a unit spectral parameter.

    • A vehicle structure needs to be more precisely analyzed because of complexities and varieties. Structural fatigue which is generated by fluctuations of stresses during the service life of a mechanical system is the primary concern in the structural design for safety. A fatigue life is difficult to obtain in structural components during the service life of mechanical systems since the fluctuating stress contributes to fatigue. This study introduces new procedures to measure the lethargy coefficient and to predict the fatigue life of a mechanical structure by using molecular dynamic simulation. A lethargy coefficient is the total defect-estimating coefficient, which was obtained by using the results of a simple tensile test in this study. With this lethargy coefficient, fatigue life was estimated. The proposed method will be useful in predicting the fatigue life of a structurally-modified vehicle design. The effectiveness of the proposed method using lethargy coefficient measurement to predict the fatigue life of a structure was examined by applying this method to predict the fatigue life of SS41 steel, used extensively as material of vehicle structures. Two types of specimen such as pre-cracked plate and simple plate is discussed. equation of fatigue life using the lethargy coefficient and failure time, both obtained from a simple tensile test, will be useful in engineering. This measurement and prediction technology will be extended for use in analysis of any geometric shapes of modified automotive structures.

    • The purpose of this research was to find out suitable soil sample preparation and sample holding tools for NIR reflection radiation for estimating soil components. NIR reflectance was scanned at 2nm intervals from 1,100 to 2,500nm with an InfraAlyzer 500(Bran+Luebbe Co.). Coarse(2.0mm) and fine(0.5mm) soil sample and various sample holding tools were used to obtain mean diffuse reflection of the soil for the calibration and validation of the calibration set in estimating moisture, organic matter and total nitrogen of the soils. Multiple linear regression was used to obtain the best correlation of NIR spectroscopy method. Correlation of NIR spectroscopy method. Correlation of NIR spectra for finely and coarsely sized soil did not show much difference. The standard errors of prediction(SE) using different types of sample holding tools for organic matter, total nitrogen and soil moisture were better than 0.765, 0.041 and 0.63% respectively. From the results it can be concluded that NIR spectroscopy with flow type cell could be used as a fast routine testing method in quantitative determination of organic matter, total nitrogen and soil moisture.

    Estimation of bridge displacement responses using FBG sensors and theoretical mode shapes

    • Bridge vibration displacements have been directly measured by LVDTs (Linear Variable Differential Transformers) or laser equipment and have also been indirectly estimated by an algorithm of integrating measured acceleration. However, LVDT measurement cannot be applied for a bridge crossing over a river or channel and the laser technique cannot be applied when the weather condition is poor. Also, double integration of accelerations may cause serious numerical deviation if the initial condition or a regression process is not carefully controlled. This paper presents an algorithm of estimating bridge vibration displacements using vibration strains measured by FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating) sensors and theoretical mode shapes of a simply supported beam. Since theoretically defined mode shapes are applied, even high modes can be used regardless of the quality of the measured data. In the proposed algorithm, the number of theoretical modes is limited by the number of sensors used for a field test to prevent a mathematical rank deficiency from occurring in computing vibration displacements.89The proposed algorithm has been applied to various types of bridges and its efficacy has been verified. The closeness of the estimated vibration displacements to measured ones has been evaluated by computing the correlation coefficient and by comparing FRFs (Frequency Response Functions) and the maximum displacements.

    Study on the Long Time Breakdown Voltage in the Macro Interface between Epoxy and Rubber (에폭시/고무 거시계면에서 장시간 절연파괴전압에 대한 연구)

    • In this paper, the estimation of lifetime with the various conditions of the interface between toughened epoxy and rubber which are consisting materials of underground power delivery system has been studied. After the measurement of the short time AC interfacial breakdown strength on macro interfaces at room temperature, the breakdown time at several voltages were measured under the constant voltages lower than the short time breakdown voltage. The long time breakdown voltage was calculated by using Inverse Power Law. Two types of interfaces was studied. One was the interface between toughened epoxy and EPDM(Ethylene Prorylene Diene Terpolymer). The other was the interface between toughened epoxy and silicon rubber. Interfacial pressure and roughness of interfaces was determined through the characteristic of short time AC interfacial breakdown strength. Oil condition was no oiled, low viscosity oiled and high viscosity oiled. High viscosity oiled interface between Toughened epoxy and silicon rubber had the best lifetime exponent, 20.69. and the breakdown voltage of this interface after 30 years was evaluated 19.27㎸.
