  • This paper introduces the creation of a module for Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) specifically designed for VVER analysis through the implementation of the STREAM/RAST-V two-step approach. The aim was to expand the range of use by developing a UQ module tailored for analyzing VVER. This research presents two innovative computational functionalities: (1) development of a library for the pin-based pointwise energy slowing down method (PSM), and (2) extension of the analysis area to study hexagonal-geometry fuel assemblies. The proposed UQ scheme was evaluated through verification using UAM benchmark, and comparative analysis between codes using SCALE 6.2.2 for. STREAM provides an accuracy comparable to that of SCALE 6.2.2. Additionally, a PSM covariance library was utilized in the calculations, achieving 0.7941% and 0.7907% accuracies in the hot full power and hot zero power calculations, respectively. To assess the UQ sequences in the two-step method, the STREAM/RAST-V calculation scheme was verified using the STREAM lattice code. To conclude, this study furnishes comprehensive insights into the development of the UQ module within the two-step method for VVER analysis, and it validates its performance through utilization of the UAM benchmark.

  • In order to compare the accuracy of impression technique using the addition silicone putty and improved heavy body material, impression were taken for the natural 6 maxillary anterior teeth, and for the metal mast model that has full arch shape with 4 cylindrical abutment teeth. Marginal gingiva was retracted by routine method using retraction cord, and two techniques were tried to compare the length of impression materials in the gingival sulcus. This was aimed to see the effect of viscosity and hydraulic pressure of impression materials for the subgingival impression. Impressions for the full arch-shaped metal master model were taken to compare the linear stability of the different impression materials and their related techniques. The conclusions were as belows : 1. The one-step impression technique showed longer extension of impression material in gingival sulcus than two-step impression technique. 2. High viscosity and hydraulic pressure of impression material were useful to take subgingival impression. 3. There was no statistically significant difference for the two-dimensional accuracy of impression technique, but two-step technique showed better trend than one-step technique.

  • A time domain finite element based method is employed to analyze wave radiation by multiple cylinders. The nonlinear free surface and body surface boundary conditions are satisfied based on the perturbation method up to the second order. The first- and second-order velocity potential problems at each time step are solved through a finite element method (FEM). The matrix equation of the FEM is solved through an iteration and the initial solution is obtained from the result at the previous time step. The three-dimensional (3D) mesh required is generated based on a two-dimensional (2D) hybrid mesh on a horizontal plane and its extension in the vertical direction. The hybrid mesh is generated by combining an unstructured grid away from cylinders and two structured grids near the cylinder and the artificial boundary, respectively. The fluid velocity on the free surface and the cylinder surface are calculated by using a differential method. Results for various configurations including two-cylinder and four-cylinder cases are provided to show the mutual influence due to cylinders on the first and second waves and forces.

  • The output voltage value of AC high voltage source has been usually obtained by multiplying low voltage value measured at both terminals of low voltage resistor by the dividing ratio of the high voltage capacitive divider. From the dividing ratio determined of each 200 kV capacitive divider, we have developed step-up method for measuring the output voltage up to 400 kV using two same type of 200 kV capacitive dividers connected in series. The theoretical dividing ratio of 400 kV capacitive dividers connected in series coincides with that of manufacturer's certification within measurement uncertainty. Thus, this developed step-up method makes it possible to extend the range of output voltage from 200 kV to 400 kV. Furthermore, The dividing ratio of divider under test obtained using this step-up method is consistent with that obtained using one 200 kV high voltage divider within corresponding uncertainties.

  • Most segmented polyurethanes are prepared from a two-step method where the polyol is end-capped with an excess of diisocyanate, followed by chain extension with stoichiometric amount of chain extender, In the final polymer the hard and soft segments tend to segregate, due to thermodynamic immiscibility and the differences in chemical structure between hard and soft segments, and produce a phase separated morphology of hard segment-rich and soft segment-rich phase. • This paper considers a generalized method of moments(GMM) estimation for seasonal cointegration as the extension of Kleibergen (1999). We propose two iterative methods for the estimation according to whether parameters in the model are simultaneously estimated or not. It is shown that the GMM estimator coincides in form to a maximum likelihood estimator or a feasible two-step estimator. In addition, we derive its asymptotic distribution that takes the same form as that in Ahn and Reinsel (1994).

  • According to our previous study, it is confirmed that the Petrov-Galerkin natural element method (PGNEM) completely resolves the numerical integration inaccuracy in the conventional Bubnov-Galerkin natural element method (BG-NEM). This paper is an extension of PG-NEM to two-dimensional nonlinear dynamic problem. For the analysis, a constant average acceleration method and a linearized total Lagrangian formulation is introduced with the PG-NEM. At every time step, the grid points are updated and the shape functions are reproduced from the relocated nodal distribution. This process enables the PG-NEM to provide more accurate and robust approximations. The representative numerical experiments performed by the test Fortran program, and the numerical results confirmed that the PG-NEM effectively and accurately approximates the nonlinear dynamic problem.

  • In-plane free vibrations of circular beams with stepped cross-sections are investigated by using the exact analytical solution. The axial extension, transverse shear deformation and rotatory inertia effects are taken into account. The stepped arch is divided into a number of arches with constant cross-sections. The exact solution of the governing equations is obtained by the initial value method. Several examples of arches with different step ratios, different locations of the steps, boundary conditions, opening angles and slenderness ratios for the first few modes are presented to illustrate the validity and accuracy of the method. The effects of the geometric parameters on the natural frequencies are investigated in details. Several examples in the literature are solved and the results are given in tables. The agreement of the results is good for all examples considered. The mode transition phenomenon is also observed for the stepped arches. Some examples are solved also numerically by using the commercial finite element program ANSYS.
