Two- and three-dimensional turbulent airflows in a 9-degrees-bent channel are studied numerically. The inner surfaces of upper and lower walls are parallel to each other upstream and downstream of the bend section. The free stream is supersonic, whereas the flow at the channel exit is either supersonic or subsonic depending on the given backpressure. Solutions of the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are obtained with a finite-volume solver ANSYS CFX. The solutions reveal instability of formed shock waves and a flow hysteresis in considerable bands of the free-stream Mach number at zero and negative angles of attack. The instability is caused by an interaction of shocks with the expansion flow formed over the convex bend of lower wall.

In this study, we present a grid refinement model in the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for two-dimensional incompressible fluid flow. That is, the model combines the desirable features of the lattice Boltzmann method and stream function-vorticity formulations. In order to obtain an accurate result, very fine grid (or lattice) is required near the solid boundary. Therefore, the grid refinement model is used in the lattice Boltzmann method for stream function-vorticity formulation. This approach is more efficient in that it can obtain the same accurate solution as that in single-block approach even if few lattices are used for computation. In order to validate the grid refinement approach for the stream function-vorticity formulation, the numerical simulations of lid-driven cavity flows were performed and good results were obtained.
A simultaneous measurement system that can analyze the flow-structure interaction has been developed. This system consists of four CCD cameras, two for capturing instantaneous flow fields and two for tracking a solid body. The three-dimensional vector fields around a cylinder are measured, while the motion of the cylinder forced by the flow field is measured, simultaneously, with the constructed system. The cylinder is suspended in the working fluid of a water channel, and the surface of the working fluid is forced sinusoidally to make the cylinder bounced. Reynolds number for the mean main stream is about 3500. The interaction between the flow fields and the cylinder motion is examined quantitatively.
The hydrodynamic flow between two eccentric cylinders is examined for small values of modified Reynolds number porosity parameter and the non-dimensional slip velocity parameter in the presence of a radial magnetic field. The stream function and the pres-sure distribution are calculated and the results are presented graph-ically.

A two-dimensional Stokes flow past a vertical plate in a channel is analyzed. The vertical plate is located at the center of the channel, and plane Poiseuille flow exists far upstream and downstream of the vertical plate. The Stokes approximation is used, and the flow is investigated analytically using the method of eigenfunction expansion and the point collocation method. From the analysis, the stream function and pressure distribution are obtained, and the pressure and shear stress distributions on the plate and channel wall are calculated. The additional pressure drop induced by the vertical plate and the force exerted on it are calculated as functions of the length of the vertical plate. For a typical length of the vertical plate, the streamline pattern and pressure distribution are shown. In addition, numerical analysis of laminar flow with a small Reynolds number is carried out to analyze the effect of a small Reynolds number on the flow pattern.
Direct numerical simulation database of an axial turbulent boundary layer is used to compute frequency and wave number spectra of the wall shear-stress fluctuations in a low-Reynolds number axial turbulent boundary layer. One-dimensional and two-dimensional power spectra of flow variables are calculated and compared. At low wave numbers and frequencies, the power of streamwise shear stress is larger than that of spanwise shear stress, while the powers of both stresses are almost the same at high wave numbers and frequencies. The frequency/streamwise wave number spectra of the wall flow variables show that large-scale fluctuations to the rms value is largest for the stream wise shear stress, while that of small-scale fluctuations to the rms value is largest for pressure. In the two-point auto-correlations, negative correlation occurs in streamwise separations for pressure, and in span wise correlation for both shear stresses.
In this paper, a classical gust problem is treated by using the numerical lifting¬-surface theory to verify the effect of gust-a sudden fluctuating fluid velocity around an object, which is normal to the main stream direction-on the hydrody¬namic forces, especially the mean thrust in upstream direction, acting on the two¬-dimensional flat plate. In this case, the mean thrust wholly resorts to the leading edge suction, and it is the same situation to the case of the heaving plate in uniform flow. The ph¬enomenon of leading edge suction is very important for the flapping propulsion of animals, typical to fish and birds, and can be related to the prediction of the hydrodynamic forces acting on marine propellers operating in gustlike wakes of ships. The results of this paper can be easily superposed to those of the reference [1J in order to solve the problem of the two-dimensional oscillacting plate in gust

The results of flow feature around two circular cylinders in various arrangements are carried out using two-dimensional simulation at Reynolds number of 200. In this work, time-averaged fluid force acting on the upstream and downstream cylinders were calculated for staggered angle ${\alpha}=0{\sim}90^{\circ}$ in the range of L/D = 1.1~5, where ${\alpha}$ is the angle between the free-stream flow and the line connecting the centers of the cylinders, L is centre-to-centre distance and D is cylinder diameter. The dependence of magnitudes and trends of fluid force coefficient on the spacing ratio L/D and ${\alpha}$ are discussed. In all arrangements of two cylinders, tandem arrangement (${\alpha}=0^{\circ}$) is the case produced a minimum drag coefficient for downstream cylinder. Moreover, the locations of separation and stagnation points or pressure coefficient on surface of the cylinder were examined. To integrate the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations numerically in multiply-connected flow regions, the vorticity-stream function formulation is used. The steady stream function value at the surface of the multibody, initially unknown, has been determined interactively by introducing a line integral which requires the single-valuedness of pressure at each interaction step. This procedure is relatively simpler and more efficient than the primitive variable formulation which requires much more computing time and shows poor convergence. Three doubly-connected flow problems are defined and numerically analyzed by the present method. The results have been compared either with earlier existing ones or with the experimental interferograms to demon-strate the validity of the presented method.
Recently, stream flow analysis has been accomplished by one or two dimensional equations and was applied by simple momentum equations and fixed energy conservations which contain many condition limits. In this study, FLOW-3D using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) was applied to stream flow analysis which can solve three dimensional RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes Equation) control equation to find out physical behaviors and the effect of hydraulic structures. Numerical simulation accomplished those results was compared by using turbulence models such as ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$, RNG (Renormalized Group) ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ and LES (Large Eddy Simulation). Numerical analysis results have been illustrated by the turbulence energy effects, velocity of flow, water level pressure and eddy flows around the piers and transverse overflow type structures. These results will be able to used by basis data that catch hold of effects on long-term bed elevation changes, sediment accumulations, scours and water aggravations by removal of obsolete transverse over flow type structures in urban stream.
