FDI considering Two Faults of Inertial Sensors (관성센서의 이중 고장을 고려한 고장 검출 및 분리)

  • Inertial navigation system with hardware redundancy must use FDI(Fault Detection and Isolation) method to remove the influence of faulty sensors. Until now, several FDI methods such as PSA(Parity Space Approach), GLT(Generalized Likelihood ratio Test) and OPT(Optimal Parity vector Test) method are generally used. However, because these FDI methods only consider the situation that the system has one faulty sensor, these methods cannot be directly adapted for the system with two faulty sensors. To solve this problem, in this paper, PSA method is analyzed and based on this result, new FDI method called EPSA is proposed to consider a detection and an isolation of two faulty sensors in inertial navigation system.

  • In aviation navigation by GPS, requirements on availability and integrity must be absolutely satisfied for safety. Current study on accomplishing this integrity includes RAM(Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring), checking integrity internally in GPS receiver itself. However RAIM techniques have be investigated and presented under assumption that there is included only one fault in measurements from GPS, In case of multiple fault, an interaction among bias errors sometimes results in decreasing the effect of multiple fault. This may make an exact fault detection and identification difficult, and study on mutiple fault RAIM focused on. This paper explains the reasons that techniques applied on single fault are not adequate to extend directly to two faults case and shows that RAIM solution on two fault may be given in revised parity space.

Bearing Faults Localization of a Moving Vehicle by Using a Moving Frame Acoustic Holography (이동 프레임 음향 홀로그래피를 이용한 주행 중인 차량의 베어링 결함 위치 추정)

  • This paper deals with a bearing faults localization technique based on holographic approach by visualizing sound radiated from the faults. The main idea stems from the phenomenon that bearing faults in a moving vehicle generate impulsive sound. To visualize fault signal from the moving vehicle, we can use the moving frame acoustic holography [Kwon, H.-S. and Kim, Y.-H., 1998, "Moving Frame Technique for Planar Acoustic Holography," J. Acoust. Soc. Am. Vol. 103, No. 4, pp. 1734${\sim}$1741]. However, it is not easy to localize faults only by applying the method. This is because the microphone array measures noise(for example, noise from other parts of the vehicle and the wind noise) as well as the fault signal while the vehicle passes by the array. To reduce the effect of noise, we propose two ideas which utilize the characteristics of fault signal. The first one is to average holograms for several frequencies to reduce the random noise. The second one is to apply the partial field decomposition algorithm [Nam, K.-U., Kim, Y.-H., 2004, "A Partial Field Decomposition Algorithm and Its Examples for Near-field Acoustic Holography," J. of Acoust. Soc. Am. Vol. 116, No. 1, pp. 172${\sim}$185] to the moving source, which can separate the fault signal and noise. Basic theory of those methods is introduced and how they can be applied to localize bearing faults is demonstrated. Experimental results via a miniature vehicle showed how well the proposed method finds out the location of source in practice.

  • Array CSAMT surveys were conducted in two areas where it was not easy to identify the presence of faults only with geological survey because of thick overburden. The purpose of these surveys were to locate the faults and to delineate the deep resistivity structures around the faults. The steep dip lineaments having high contrast in resistivity laterally and the low resistive zones having some width in the resistivity sections were interpreted as faults and fracture zones associated with faults, respectively, The good applicability of array CSAMT to the investigation of fault was recognized owing to the agreement between the interpretation results of array CSAMT and the conclusive evidences collected by the following geological survey. The evidences includes the recent exposure of fault and the trajectory of fault evidences of the survey line. A comparison of the applicabilities of array CSAMT method and the resistivity method using dipole-dipole array was presented with the results of both methods along a same traverse line.

  • This paper presents an approach based on knowledge models to detect and isolate faults in a voltage source inverter. These faults do not affect the existing system protections. A diagnosis system which uses only the input variables of the drive is presented. It is based on the analysis of the current-vector trajectory and of the instantaneous frequency in faulty mode. These two methods have been verified in simulation results.

  • We evaluated the potential of the limestone deposits distributed in the Uljin area, the north-eastern part of Gyungsang province, based on the results of the surface and underground geological survey. The geology of the Uljin area consists mainly of the Cambro-Ordovician Joseon Supergroup correlated to the Duwibong sequence of the south-eastern part of Gangwon province. The Joseon Supergroup rested unconformably on the Precambrian schists is divided into six formations , namely, Maesan, Gusanri, Namsusan, Songchon, Mongcheon, and Keummaeri formations in ascending order. Main geological structures are two thrust faults with NS trending, some normal and reverse faults, and folds.

  • Along the Ulsan Fault System, many Quaternary faults have been reported and investigated with outcrop observation and trench excavation to clarify the neotectonic movements and fault parameters such as length, displacement, slip rate and recurrence interval. In the northern part of the Ulsan fault system, we have interpreted small scale(1:10,000) aerial photographs and extracted lineaments by geomophological features to select trench site. After precise field survey and tracing for lineaments, two trench sites at Galgokri, Gyeongju were selected on the lineament to elucidate the fault movement history. One is successful in finding faults but the other is not. In the Galgok-Chisil trench(3m(w) x 1.5m(d) x 10m(l)), very closed two Quaternary faults cut the alluvial deposits of which age shows about 10-3ka. More than three times of fault movements can be inferred by geologic structures and C-14 dating. Repeatedly fault movements had been occurred before 10 ka, between 10ka-4.9 ka, between 4.9-1.4 ka at Galgok-Chisil trench section.

A Study on Possibility of Detection of Insulators' Faults by Analyses of Radiation Noises from Insulators (애자의 소음 분석을 통한 애자 고장 탐지 가능성 연구)

  • The porcelain insulators are important devices, that are used to isolate electrically and hold mechanically in the high-voltage power transmission systems. The faults of the insulators induce very serious problems to the power transmission line. In this paper, we introduce techniques for fault detections of insulators by acoustic radiation noises from them. We measured radiation noises from normal state insulators and fault state insulators. The used insulators were two different type porcelain insulators, a cut out switch, two different type line posters, and a lightning arrester. Each results was compared each other in time domain, frequency domain and filter banks' outputs. We found the possibility of detection of insulators' faults and also suggested techniques for fault detections.

  • In this paper, we propose the novel test method to detect short and open faults in CMOS Op-amp. The proposed method is composed of two test steps - the offset and the high frequency test. Using HSPICE simulation, we get a 100% fault coverage. To verify the proposed method, we design and fabricate the CMOS op-amp that contains various short and open faults through Hyundai 0.65$\mu\textrm{m}$ 2-poly 2-metal CMOS process. Experimental results of fabricated chip demonstrate that the proposed test method can detect short and open faults in CMOS Op-amp.
